Sirocco

Sirocco is a beautiful restaurant located just at the edge of Thesen Island. My husband and I had dinner on Monday evening and were treated to great sushi and wonderful cocktails! We had the calamari starter (which was so yummy) and sushi as our main. We highly recommend the tempura prawns which were so fresh and light! P.s I would suggest making a recommendation if you’d want to sit outside.

We had such a lovely lunch/dinner at Sirocco Restaurant in Knysna. There were nine of us (four couples and a baby), so we weren’t exactly an easy table, but everything ran smoothly from start to finish. A huge shoutout to our waiter, Elethu — she was genuinely warm, patient, and on top of things the whole time. Drinks arrived quickly (including a mix of cocktails and mocktails), and she checked in just enough without hovering, which we really appreciated. Food-wise, there was something for everyone and it all landed. The sushi was fresh and beautifully put together, the lamb curry had proper flavour and comfort-factor, and the line fish was cooked perfectly. We also ordered calamari, prawns, and spaghetti, and every plate that hit the table got the “okay, that’s really good” reaction. Even with a big group, the timing worked well and no one was left waiting forever. We ended with pudding (highly recommended) and left feeling happy, full, and already talking about coming back. Great food, great service, and a relaxed vibe — Sirocco is definitely worth a stop in Knysna.

Overall an okay experience — many of the reviews reflect what we experienced as well. We originally came for sushi, but after seeing that most of the rolls looked extremely rice-heavy on google reviews, we decided to skip it and both ordered pasta instead. My boyfriend started with three oysters and the seafood pasta. He said the oysters were exceptionally good, and the pasta had plenty of seafood, but by the end the noodles were swimming in oil, which made it a bit unappetizing. I had a similar issue with the chicken pasta. The flavor was good, but it was extremely oily—so much that I couldn’t finish it. I should have taken a photo to share. I also paid extra to add chicken, and there were barely three tiny pieces — definitely not even a third of a chicken breast. The strawberry daiquiri was good. One thing to note: we asked to sit by the window and were told you need to make a reservation weeks in advance for those seats. Something to keep in mind if you want the view, even though we were able to get a same-day reservation overall.

Beautiful canal view. Food was good. Really enjoyed the grilled prawns. Polite service was timely for us. A good seafood and fresh fish restaurant, with a slightly "chain" vibe. Good for South African standards all around. 5 star to not diminish the overall rating of the restaurant, but its more of a 4 star elsewhere.

Sushi and oysters were great, service was as well until we had to pay. We estimated a tip which clearly wasn’t to the liking of our waitress and we had a very cold goodbye. Also, we came for a special occasion which I made clear, but they didn’t do anything for it. Overall, I would still recommend, but some gratitude from the staff for receiving the explicitly mentioned “gratuity” is in place.

The view from the deck is nice, the sushis were good but not amazing. The pasta also was nice but a bit too rich, it should have been balanced with a fresher element or lemon

location on the front , very busy accommodating families , parties and couples . Food was better than the environment felt a little like a wetherspoon’s but better food

Great service, great location, great food. I loved the steak so much, I came back a few days later to have it again. Definitely one of the best, if not the very best, steak I’ve had. Thank you !!!
