"Soak up the sunshine at Sister Srey The coffee may not be the best in Siem Reap and the food can be hit and miss. But there are few more relaxed places to hang out than the wooden tables and benches at the front of this sunny cafe opposite the riverside. Owned by two Melbourne sisters who do a lot of charitable work, it's a good spot to meet expats and there's a noticeboard promoting volunteer opportunities and other ways to give back."

Restaurants That Give Back - AFAR

"This cheery café hires Khmer students and offers hands-on training in hospitality, English, personal development, banking, and health and hygiene, while directing a portion of its profits toward clearing land mines." - Billie Cohen

Sister Srey - SilverKris

"Located on Pokambor Avenue in the city centre with soothing views of the Siem Reap River and directly opposite the maze-like Old Market (Psar Chas), this long-established eatery (opened 2012) is a tourist favourite and social enterprise. Attractive plating and friendly service complement a menu of Western and Australian-style breakfasts, hearty carnivorous and vegan options, fresh juices, smoothies and excellent coffee, keeping it busy year-round. A portion of profits is donated to APOPO, the landmine-clearance organisation that uses trained rats near Angkor Archaeological Park, and the business focuses on empowering disadvantaged young people by training staff in hospitality, English, personal development, health, hygiene and banking so they can better support their families. Bright, jokey signage lifts the mood, and book sellers are often outside trying to earn a small income despite disabilities caused by landmines." - SilverKris

7 cool cafés and boutiques to visit in Wat Damnak, Siem Reap - SilverKris

"An airy, Instagram-friendly café and social enterprise launched in 2012 that prioritizes employment for young Khmer students who juggle study and family support. Beyond serving coffee and food, the café is active in community initiatives—such as lunch donations and support for small local businesses and farmers—and emphasizes environmental sustainability practices like reusing, reducing and recycling." - Tara FT Sering

Extremely friendly staff who speak English very well. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Great coffee. Teeny weeny but disappointed with fried chicken rice because I was hoping for a piece of chicken drumstick or sth like that but the taste makes up for it. Love that they are supporting Apopo (the landmine sniffing rats) and love the bamboo straw, I had to have one

After an exhausting day of taking the sights in, I wanted to sit at a cute cafe, with a coffee to unwind. This place apparently does a lot for their community such as donating 1% back to a charity that clears land mines. Sadly, land mine related deaths still occur monthly. The cafe was cosy, modern, clean and bright. The staff are super friendly, speak English really well, & there are 2 floors. There's an art gallery upstairs where you can purchase prints, lounge in the comfortable chairs and there are several fans to cool the floor. ☕ The iced coffee I had was of a great standard, came with a little biscuit, & was forthy at the top. Round the corner from the old market, so if you ever need to rally before or after the complexities, & abundance at the market. This is a great place to do it. 😆

Amazing food here. Excellent service. I really enjoy the breakfast. I like to order Al a carte because of my dietary restrictions. But in the past I've really enjoyed their big homemade cashew cookies. Their espresso is extremely good. It's right next to the river. When I'm craving a really good Western style breakfast this place hits the spot.

Could this place be any better? Probably not! Coffee was amazing. Breakfast was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient. All profits to land mine clearance. Please go and support this incredible cafe. 💕🙏

They have gluten free food options (and deserts), clearly labelled on the menu. Staff super friendly and speak great English. Place is clean. Also for a great cause #herorats! Would highly recommend 😊

Great little chill cafe in the centre of town directly across from the river. Another one shown to me by my local friend who comes here often. Excellent coffee and amazing eggs/bacon breakfast on a rosti base. Quite a highlight. The staff are super friendly and quite proud of the establishment. Give it a try!

This is a great cafe! Excellent cappuccinos and breakfast choices with very generous portions. The service is welcoming and very attentive without being intrusive. It's a nice location for people watching as well.

Cute little place. Beware, they closed at 6pm the day I ate here. I arrived at 520 and almost wouldn't serve me because the kitchen was closing. I ordered gluten free fried rice with chicken. They forgot the chicken, but I didn't ask them to fix it after the fuss on being able to order at all. Overall an ok place, but waaay too many onions in the fried rice. With so many other great places in town, I probably won't go back, unless it's for drinks and a treat only.
