I visited this outlet of Sitaram Diwan Chand at Pahar Ganj after more than 25 years, and the taste is still the same and very special. The flavour is still excellent. The bhature are soft and fluffy, without any crispiness, and go perfectly with the spicy chhole. Fully satisfying. After the meal, I had sweet lassi. It was fresh, mildly sweet, not very thick, and very refreshing. One thing to note is that bhature are not deep-fried live here. They are pre-cooked and heated on a tava, which gives them their unique taste. Overall, this place is a must-visit for chhole bhature lovers. They also now have several restaurants in Delhi and NCR, I usually visit Faridabad outlet in Sector 85. Same taste, same flavour...

Chole (Chana) Bhature - Rs.95/- Lassi - Rs.40/- Sita Ram Diwan Chand, Paharganj, Delhi 29.11.2025 After last night's Butter Chicken it was time to wake up & go search for the most proper Delhi breakfast which is Chole (chana) Bhature. I recall growing up in the late 80's in a middle class family where the tastiest & most economical dishes to have in a restaurant were veg items like Masala Dosa & Chole Bhature. Places like Chirag, Delhi Mistan Bhandar & Regal were the only places to find them. While me & dad would mostly order Masala Dosa, my mom & sister were huge fans of Chole Bhature, although sometimes I would also order it. So my memories of eating Chole Bhature are almost 4 decades old. So I got up at 6 am & reached @sitaramdiwanchandpaharganj at 7:50am, 10 mins before they opened. Afterall I did have a meeting to rush to at 10am. This iconic place is where Chole Bhature (chana) was first sold in the streets of Delhi after Independence in Paharganj near New Delhi Railway Station. It was basically an east Punjabi dish which has now somewhat taken over pan-India ever since then. I've seen pictures & reels of every international (famous & not so famous) foodblogger eat here & now I'm also very excited to be here as well. Now I stepped inside & noticed that there were only 2 dishes on the menu, Chole (chana) Bhature & Lassi. Imagine how this place has managed to thrive & become iconic banking on just two item. This is specialist stuff at the highest order. Here is my review. Ambience - 4.2 Well you basically buy a token then pick up your order & stand & eat on standing tables. This isn't a place for one to feel pretty but to fill up & leave. Atleast the place looks very clean. Service - 4.35 This was self service but the guys handling the different sections were nice & some became smiley when I took out the camera. Quantity - 4.7 I always imagined the OG Chole (chana) Bhature to be huge puffy balls of fried bread. Well these were half the size of what I imagined but we're thick & very filling. Visited Sita Ram Dhyan Chand and can confirm it's usually very crowded, so be prepared for a bustling environment and self-service. The great news is that despite the rush, the service is incredibly fast, which is a huge plus for a quick meal! The bhature themselves were excellent—soft and flavourful. However, I found the chole quite disappointing on this visit; they lacked the robust flavour I was hoping for. For the price point (₹100–₹500 per person), it’s a quick and budget-friendly option. A decent place overall, but hopefully, they can improve the chole soon

Everything was okay but bhature was not fluffy... As they were previously made by them... Literally hilarious 😆 As bhature is the 50% of total food (chole+bhature) and it should be as fresh as possible but due to their customers need they have to make it in stock. But my question is, should we forget our necessities rather than having an superfast served food?? I think in IND we must respect our culture and FOOD and we must serve it as freshly as we can. Hence, overall taste was brilliant but i can understand that bcz of their customers they must have to be rely on these methods. Also I presume that all their products were fresh and healthy.

There’s nothing particularly special about these chole bhature. The taste was quite average, so it’s not really worth traveling a long distance just to try them.

Once upon a time . It was one of the best chole bhature . But now recently visited this place , somehow it is losing its charm. As i didnt get the same taste . Travelled almost 2 hours just to get disappointed this time . Maybe my badluck or genuinely quaity has degraded.

Traditional breakfast restaurant serving an incredible Chole Bhature - very tasty, with just the right level of spiciness - in a no frill environment with shared metal tables where people eat standing. The place is very popular with locals. Would definitely recommend!

I recently visited Sita Ram Diwan Chand and it lived up to the hype. The chole was rich, spicy and perfectly balanced, not overly oily but packed with flavor. The bhature were soft and not too greasy, which made them easy to enjoy. The meal was elevated by their sweet lassi creamy, refreshing and served chilled, making it a perfect end to a heavy dish. The place is known for its fast service and old-school charm. Seating is minimal, but the turnover is quick. If you're a fan of North Indian food, this is a must-try. It’s simple, iconic and deeply satisfying.
