Sítio dos Tucanos

The owner of the pousada and the staff were so friendly and made sure I had a good time. The Pousada is a little bit up a hill surrounded by nature. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. Since I did not have a car the owner of the pousada even drove me to the beach and also one night into the village for dinner. I can really recommend to stay in this pousada. But keep in mind that your are in the middle of the nature outside of the village of Pântano do Sul and its beach (you have to take a bus or drive there, to walk there is long but doable for fit people) and do not expect it to be a luxury resort and you will have a great time there.

The two of us spent our first 4 nights on the island in the Pousada. It lies on the edge of the forest and is ideal for anyone seeking a relaxing few days away from all the hustle back home. As a bird watcher I was happy to see about 50 species on the grounds which included Green-blled Tucan and Long tufted screech owls. The suites ( we had number 5) are wood chalets; clean and next to a stream which helped me fall asleep at night; my partner felt it was a little loud though. Suites are about a 1 minute walk from the main house in which breakfast was served and dinner if requested. The suites have not been renovated in quite a while (the mosquito net was new though) and when the wind blew it sent dust and small debris from under the eaves of the roof into one corner of the room; not nice if the suitcase is lying open just below. Not sure whether this is the same in the other suites. The shower was a bit archaic but all in good working order with both hot and cold water but needing to get used to to adjust to the right temperature. Gerta, the owner, was always very nice and helpful with lots of tips for things to do. Breakfast was simple but good, especially the coffee. Parking space is readily available and there are a couple of nice nature trails. ||As a conclusion: Nice Pousada, could do with a little doing over here and there, in a lovely spot which is also a good base for travelling around the south of the Island. For nature lovers the spot is pretty much ideal and at a price which is fine.||Many thanks Gerta!!

I am so pleased I found Pousada Sitio Dos Tucanos. It is a little piece of paradise and Gerta and all the team could not have been more welcoming. The entire place had a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Having stayed right on the coast for a few nights before, moving to the edge of the forest gave a lovely, luscious contrast. I stayed in the lower building that sits by the edge of the stream. My room was perfect. Simple and cosy all at the same time, and there is a lovely shared reading room. In the garden, birdsong was everywhere. I've not seen wild toucans nor hummingbirds so close before. Breakfast was delicious, as was the evening meal and I met some lovely fellow guests. If I have the chance I will definitely return. Waking up to the sound of birds, enjoying the stroll on the trail before excellent breakfast buffet. Good recommendations from the owner on what to do on the island, tasty dinner prepared on demand by local chef, simple but cosy rooms with details to make you feel comfortable. Moderate prices, great service attitude of staff = relaxing stay! Thank you Gerta and team!

My husband and I booked this place for 3 nights, we were super confident after reading lots of wonderfull reviews, but be prepared if you decide to book because your experience may not be so good. We were there by 2pm and there was no one in the front desk, actually, no one at the place at all, we then decided to go to the beach and come back later. At night when we were finally able to get the room keys, it was absolutely dirty, dusty, stain spots all over, mold in the ceiling (specially in the bathroom), well, the bathroom...quite an experience...I had to wash hairs from previous guests on the shower and sink, really disgusting! There was no electricity on the first night, we were not able to charge our cells, the coffee is suposed to be served at 8am, though, it never was, we got up early to enjoy the day, and ended up waiting for half an hour everyday till they had it settled, by the way, my daily breakfast at home has more options than the coffee we were presented at this pousada, really poor breakfast. So, we paid 270,00 reais per night, we had nothing, no descent breakfast, no clean rooms, and the room itself has nothing, no TV ,no AC, wich is ok as it is supposed to be a nature getaway, but cleanliness, sharp breakfast time and descent food options and at least 1 person on the front desk are very basic things to welcome guests! Will never return and do not reccommend!

Beautiful accomodation with a very lovely host. We felt very welcome from the beginning. The pousada is in the middle of paradise with a nice garden and beautiful rooms. The breakfast is excellent. We would definitely come back. Thanks for the wonderful time.

Inside the nature, it's quite far from the city centre, but that's the purpose.||Go there if you want to connect with the nature, if you want peace.||The owner and the crew are very receptive, kind and i got surprised when i got there, it's way better than i had thought, there's free and nice breakfast included.||The area is huge, the sky at night is incredible (i posted a photo). ||And it's very close to the beaches (from the south part of floripa), quite beaches, simply amazing!

if you seek a true escape, this is it. The pousada is set up on a hill with a commanding view of the little town, beach, and ocean. You will need a car to get here, the hill is steep, and you have to drive for lunch and maybe dinner. But if your aim is to read a book, lie in a hammock, and take walks, this is it. It's also interesting to be on the south side of the island, which is very un-commercial.||Note: the Google maps location is a bit off - best to follow the signs on the road.
