Our family has many good memories at this park's playground they always called the "Pirate Park" We installed the current park equipment when I was the PCR Director and my kids loved it. What makes this park so unique is that it is also a "Natonal Historic Landmark" with its trees and the oldest recorded forestoration project in North America. The parks interpretive signs provide the story of the orignial trees, some now close to 200-years old. A pond, birds and flowers complement the scenery. A play park and senenity can be found here.

Unlike many of the Aleutian Islands, Dutch Harbor has trees. Hidden behind a playground is a tiny valley that holds a Natioal Landmark/Park; The oldest recorded forestation project in North America. A few of the original trees,  only waist high and nearing 200 years old, can still  be found with a little searching.  Their prodigy has thrived,  filling the valley and peppering the surrounding hills. A pond, birds and fall flowers complement the scenery. Here, serenity can be found a short walk from the airport.
