We booked this hotel for a long weekend while we were in the area to take classes at King Arthur. It's the perfect little hotel to use to explore the area. The staff are wonderful and the rooms are very comfortable. If you're in town for Dartmouth, it's right near Main Street without being ON Main Street so it's pretty quiet. No negatives about our stay at all. Would stay again.

Great new hotel in Hanover. Upscale feel. I loved having 2 king beds instead of 2 queen/double. Each floor has free refreshments, cookies, fruit, water, eye mask, ear plugs. It was a very nice touch. Parking was valet and $38 for the night and the next day. Staff were very friendly.

Great hotel! Rooms are spacious, modern, and spotless. The staff is so kind and welcoming as well. They also offer refreshments on every floor (water, apples) and fresh cookies every night. Would definitely stay again.

Modern and spacious room, immaculately maintained. Super warm and welcoming lobby staff — makes you feel as though you are in a small country inn. I wish the bar stayed open later and were less sterile; it would be nice to have an inviting spot to unwind after dinner.

EDIT: My credit card was charged, twice, without my authorization after checking out. Not outright racism, but definitely feel-able and read-able racism. BEWARE!! I’m on the phone now trying to resolve things since my card was charged twice without my authorization after check out! Right now I feel gaslighted as if I didn’t prepay for the reservation myself… two female employees told me that I should have only been charged $209.38… uh… no I shouldn’t! I prepaid the rate on a different card. This card should have no charges at all! Why does this happen? Negligent staff? Or perhaps a continuation of the discriminatory atmosphere I experienced. The tall slim man with the black shoulder length hair and beard was supposed to check us out. I asked him specifically if I needed to retap my card for any incidental fees being returned. He reassured me it wasn’t needed. Original review below: My stay at Six South St Hotel was one of the most disappointing and disheartening hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I arrived expecting basic courtesy and professionalism, but instead felt disrespected and discriminated against. When I approached the front desk, the white receptionist asked if she could assist another guest—despite me already being there—and spent over 20 minutes helping them while I sat waiting in the lobby. When she finally returned, she gave me a half-hearted apology and rushed through my check-in. What made it worse is that she clearly wasn’t in a rush—she had all the time in the world—but still chose to skip over important information about the hotel, like the amenities and what was included in my stay. I later watched her explain all of these details in a warm and welcoming tone to another white guest. The white male valet was equally disrespectful, treating me like I was a burden rather than a paying guest. He showed no professionalism, warmth, or basic customer service skills. The room was small, unappealing, and definitely not worth the $240 price tag—especially since the complimentary snacks were expired. Most painful of all was how my family was treated. A tall male receptionist with long black hair was openly rude and dismissive toward my father, who speaks with broken English. My family and I speak with thick accents, and throughout the experience, it felt like we were being looked down upon because of it. As someone who is not part of the racial or cultural majority in this town, I strongly believe we were treated differently because of our background. I felt so uncomfortable that I left the hotel after only two hours—but still paid the full amount. This was not just poor service—it was a deeply unwelcoming and discriminatory experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone, especially guests of color or those who speak English as a second language. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Fantastic downtown hotel in Hanover NH (Dartmouth College). They have every amenity covered for your stay. The Hotel is completely updated and the rooms are extremely comfortable. You have it all, downtown valet parking, 1st class bar and restaurant, along with gym, comfortable lobby and complementary water, fruit and snacks. The Staff is super friendly, Patrick one of the managers understands hospitality and will go out of his way to make sure everyone at the hotel has a great experience. He is upbeat, friendly and makes you feel welcome when you call to inquire about reservations and when you show up at the hotel. Great lodging option if you are staying in Hanover!

Great tapas menu…easily shared and a great vibe. The bartender and owner were happy to accommodate us and we had a wonderful evening.

Google
If only design and beauty were a category for stars! This stylish hotel would be given 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟! The rooms were AMAZING - modern, spacious and so well appointed. The decor was stunning throughout the hotel. Sadly where the hotel fell short was service and staff! They were definitely short staffed and one cannot then place blame on the staff. It is a management issue. There was no one manning the front desk at times and the friendly, relaxed and fun vibe was missing. At the end of the day/stay you want to feel welcomed.

Yelp
Room was clean and comfortable for our stay. We traveled in for the Dartmouth powwow. We enjoyed the welcoming staff and hospitality that was given to our family. The room was very comfortable with two king size beds. I enjoyed the amenities of the room which was coffee, water, snacks and the shampoo/soap that we did not have to pack for travel! We had Ramunto's Brick & Brew Pizza one night because we were tired and the staff was kind enough plates and utensils for us to use. Our Nespresso machine in the room was an extra bonus for us and we did enjoy a cookie one evening. I would definitely stay here again near campus as it was convenient.

Yelp
Great location clean room very functional for trips to hanover. Wouldn't hesitate to stay there again

Yelp
No review seems to mention that the hotel is situated directly next to a large dump site where many local restaurants take their time sorting glass bottles and compacting trash throughout the evening, on my stay what must have been an employee of a bar was sorting bags of bottles past midnight.

Yelp
We've been coming to visit family for years in the area. We've stayed at all the places. This hotel is, by far, the best experience we've had. Staff is very friendly, accommodations are excellent: comfy beds, spotless room, free water, free cookies (if u happen to be in the lobby in the afternoon when they're brought out), quality linens and towels, quiet, and in a perfect location. Two adults and two teen boys in our double Queen room did not feel small at all. Very spacious and well-appointed including a small fridge, a safe, and plenty of charging ports, drawers for stuff and well placed lights. I highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again.

Yelp
I stayed here while visiting Dartmouth for a few days, and wow, this is a lovely hotel! It is in a great location in downtown Hanover and is very clean and modern. The rooms have many nice little luxuries, such as N'spresso pods, rain showers, and plush linens. Each floor also has a fridge with mini water bottles and bags of ice. If I return to Hanover, I will definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Nothing wrong with the hotel. Clean, recently renovated, foos location. But, it's simply not a good value. I travel for work and am in a hotel 3-4 nights per week. This hotel should be no more than $250. Drive 5 minutes and save $200 per night.

Yelp
Whoever developed the concept of this wonderful new hotel deserves accolades for anticipating every guest's every need, and exceeding those needs with panache. The basics: very comfortable bed with many pillow choices; well-furnished and spacious bathroom with a great HOT shower, designer soaps/ conditioner/moisturizer and lots of counter space; Nespresso coffee machine that makes REAL coffee, not the brown water offered up by sub-par machines in most other hotels; real glassware [no plastic cups, thank you very much!]. As you exit the elevator on the way to your room, you will find a lovely hutch with two pull-out drawers: one a refrigerator with lots of bottled water; the other a freezer with perfectly sized bags of ice. On top of same hutch is a big bowl of apples and another bowl filled with cookies. If big screen TV is your thing, you're in for a treat... it's huge! The refrigerator in the room is a pull-out drawer, like the water/ice drawers in the hallway. Artful, apparently local photographs adorn both the rooms and the hallways, elegantly framed, and add to the overall ambience. The Dartmouth campus is adjacent; thus, this little college town is packed with all kinds of great shops, food choices and nice people. If I'm ever looking to stay anywhere near Dartmouth again, I will not hesitate to stay at SSS!!!

Yelp
I'm struggling with this one. Very expensive 200+ a night. Undergoing construction. Maybe don't charge this. Maybe u do. Because of this. It's a struggle. Definitely a Dartmouth family reliant. Not me. I don't need to pay college rates. Sooo meh. Nice room no doubt. Courteous front desk staff. Friendly manager. I guess it would be 5 stars without pandemic.

Yelp
Stayed here for a few days while I was visiting Dartmouth campus. Staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, and walking distance to the campus. They always have coffee and tea available for free in the lobby and they also provide newspapers as well. I would highly recommend this hotel when staying in the Hanover.

Yelp
Had a very good stay here recently. I was by myself for just one night. Check in took two minutes with the friendly front desk gentleman. He (thankfully) pointed out that my plan to Uber was not going to work, and instead gave me some business cards of drivers. He also noted that this was going to be very expensive and suggested I could opt to take the free public transit, helpfully giving me the schedule and explaining how to get there. I was grateful, since this saved me $75 round trip!! My room was lovely, definitely modern and very clean. I appreciated the quality of the tools available - I've been in a LOT of hotel rooms around the country for interviews over the last few months, and this place has a really nice iron/board, coffee maker, blow dryer, etc. Bed was super comfy with nice sheets. Bathroom very clean with a great shower. All in all I'd definitely recommend this place if you're coming to the area. I would have happily stayed longer!

Yelp
Love this place. Kelly at the front desk is so great. Nice. Helpful. Acccomodating. Everything a front desk staff should be! Love coming back here.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay! The rooms were very nice, comfortable, and quiet! We had everything we needed. It is also in a great location (within walking distance to great restaurants, a CVS, has station, and other local shops). The best part of my stay was the amazing staff! Everyone was SO kind and considerate. From the Valet staff to the staff behind the counter, everyone was extremely nice and helpful. It truly made my experience. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

Yelp
Again... an average rating of 3.5 stars seems really out of place for such a nice hotel. I had a great experience. The room was among the better hotels I've ever stayed in. Beyond this, after staying in hotels in Vegas and New York, this hotel's pricing is really great value. I would recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Dartmouth. It's a quick 5 minute walk to campus and has lots of nearby restaurants. Don't listen to the negative reviews. Dependable and great value! FYI there is no Uber or Lyft in Hanover, but the hotel gave me a free ride to Lebanon airport!

Yelp
If the W is to the Waldorf Astoria Then 6 South is to the Hanover Inn The Hanover Inn is across the street from the Dartmouth Green while 6 South is less than 6 blocks away. So, unless you need to have a view of the campus from your window, 6 South is a great option. (Well, now that the Inn is under renovation, it's the only option in town unless you want to join the Occupy movement (which, due to cold weather has moved indoors somewhere).) It's perfect for the city slickers who want an urban oasis with a boutique feel. Decor is very modern... & red. (Wait, am I at Harvard?) Environmentally-friendly products in hip rooms. Coffee & tea in a comfortable lobby. Restaurant on the premises. Helpful staff. I think it's a win.

Yelp
We stayed here because we had a night to kill in the area and figured we'd treat ourselves. We have two dogs, so we looked up the pet policy on their website, which clearly states there's a $25 total pet fee... Whatever, we were just glad we could stay at such a nice place with our dogs. Of course when we arrived it mysteriously turned into $25 per dog. Okay, fine. We didn't complain. Parking is another $18, but fine... We were treating ourselves so we didn't mind. Here's where it gets dicey though. It is no nicer than the Baymont, for example, which costs something like 90 bucks! It's way less nice than a Marriott. We were really disappointed. It isn't worth the extra money at all. It's clean and has a bed, which is really all I need from a hotel, but there's no reason to pay what we paid just to get that. My husband found the bed fairly comfortable, but I didn't. So that one is just a matter of preference. They were nice enough at the front desk, but I did notice that they charged us an extra 138 bucks for no reason. Depending on whether they refund this or not, and how much of a pain it is to get the refund, my review may gain or lose a star. Having to deal with that at all is unpleasant and reflects pretty poorly on their business, since it sure looks like they're just trying to trick us out of yet more money. Overall, this is an unremarkable 3 star hotel charging 5 star prices (at least by NH/VT/middle of nowhere standards), plus some ethically questionable charges (the extra pet fee beyond what's written on the site), and some completely bogus charges.

Yelp
We had a great stay at Six South over the weekend! Not only were the rooms great, but they had wonderful toiletries (body wash and moisturizer especially) and the service was awesome. When I asked the concierge for a fork to eat my leftovers with she happily brought me two, and when we asked to split our bill on 4 credit cards, it wasn't even an issue. It's the best of both worlds--When you enter Six South you feel like you're in a chic city hotel, but when you walk out the door, you're back in quaint, quiet Hanover. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Exactly what a small college town needs! A clean, affordable hotel in the middle of it all. I don't normally give 4 stars after just one visit but this place was golden for my quick visit up to Hanover . Here's your info: Hotel room: B+. Very clean and comfortable. I could have slept on that bed for days, then again I normally sleep on a Doritos bag..... Service: A. Everyone here was very helpful, they even got me up to speed on the cab situation (there's like 5 in town) and helped me come up with a back up plan in case my flight to Boston was snow delayed..which it was..... Location: A. In the middle of it all and when you're in a small town this goes a long way. Visiting in late Jan when the temperature is minus cold as ballz made this location even better. I was close to the shops, restaurants and bus stop. This place gets packed quick so be sure you call and have them put your name on the waitlist if you can't reserve something online. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the upper valley.

Yelp
This is a review about the Bistro and Bar only: We came here for a girl's night and wanted to go somewhere new (which is really difficult to do in Hanover.) One of us saw a small sign advertising food and drink here, so we decided to try it. Well, the fact that we were the only patrons there for dinner at 7pm should have been a warning sign. The drinks were fine (after all, how could you really mess up on wine and beer?) but our entrees were pretty disappointing. They probably don't get much turnover so don't expect fresh ingredients. My friend was pretty disappointed with her fish. The bar lounge area is nice - great place for an after work drink. But go somewhere else for food until business picks up!

Yelp
Stayed here while in Hanover because I was attending a wedding in Woodstock. The staff was very frienedly and accomidating. The valet on the other hand is a different story. The 3 rotating valets were inattentive and were not even at the podium severa times I came for my car. Not withstanding crappy valet services the front desk and wait staff in the restaurant were amazing. The rooms were clean and put together well. The location is great and in the heart of the city. If I were in NH again I would stay here...

Yelp
Pros: Very friendly staff Comfortable Beds Clean Nice gym (small but new equipment) Free Starbucks coffee and tea at the lobby 24hrs Walking distance to Dartmouth and the cute stores/restaurants around it Great Showers (and soaps/lotions) Cons: 11-a.m. check out is pretty early ... that's all I got I had no problem with the valet they were quick and attentive. I think you would be happy here.

Yelp
ATMOSPHERE - The outside of the building is bland and really doesn't befit the atmosphere of the town. The interior feels like a misplaced chic urban hotel in a quaint New England town. The hotel has clean lines, contemporary decor, and a slight retro flair. The forced valet is always irritating for a small hotel that is not in the midst of city where parking is scarce. I did like that they did not nickel and dime you for everything. Wifi is free, there's a computer and printer in the lobby, coffee and tea available at all times, and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the evening. ROOMS - I had some issues with the cleanness of my room - food and drink stains on the desk, fingerprints on the mirrors, hair on my towels and tub, etc. I informed the front desk and they promptly helped me switch rooms and gave me a complimentary breakfast. Overall, the room is very comfortable with "earth friendly" products. RESTAURANT - Given the few dining options, I ate at the Bistro downstairs. I ordered the Filet Medallions medium rare and they appeared a very medium well. The medallions were sliced fairly thinly, which makes it difficult to execute a medium rare. It was, overall, well seasoned and the side of potatoes had a chunky texture, which I like. They ran out of maple syrup for breakfast so I got the eggs benedict with salmon. It was actually very well done and satisfying.

Yelp
The bed was very comfortable, and free internet and Starbucks coffee in the lobby. Also, there was an unstocked fridge for leftovers. However the room was dark. There were lamps but not enough to make the room bright. Parking was $18/night. Cost was $139 and $99 for Saturday and Sunday. This was a special wedding rate. Comfortable room, and overall nice stay. But I wouldn't stay here at full price.

Jo V.

Yelp
The staff of the hotel were as friendly and welcoming as could be expected. I had no issues with them. My biggest issues was with the rooms. They are very bright, which is wonderful in the day time. Unfortunately, my streetside room continued to be extremely bright throughout the night. The blackout curtains do not close all the way, so one must bury their head in a pile of pillows and hope for the best. Also, because the room was near the street, there was no way to drown out the noises of passing traffic or beeping public service vehicles. The icing on the cake was that the restaurant in hotel stopped serving dinner an hour early because they ran out of many of their menu items. The chef had a brief temper tantrum within ear shot of guests because they were unexpectedly busy.

Yelp
Nightmare on Six Street! Starting with pulling into the driveway. I was dissatisfied how the staff treated me and my car. Then, I found out that the normal rate was increased more than 150% because it was visiting day weekend. If you have to stay here, check the plumbing in your room before you unpack. In my opinion, the decorations were truly 60's or maybe 70's, time for a remake. Even the check out was early, 11 AM.... mostly 12 in other hotels. In my opinion, this hotel was inhospitable. We found the staff to be cold and business-like, definitely would not go back under any circumstances!

Yelp
Clean, modern, inexpensive hotel in a quaint little town. My sister had a conference at Dartmouth, and I joined her for the week. The location is perfect; everything is in walking distance (it's a really small town). Rooms are big, bathrooms have a shower, tub, and plenty of storage. Staff is friendly, and they have free coffee in the lobby. There's also a CVS right across the street if you need anything. Yes, parking is pricey, but they are really great about getting your car quickly. I would definitely recommend this hotel, just double check the rates before you book and before you stay. I booked early and got a rate of $220 a night. The night before I left, I checked the rates and they had dropped to $130!!! The hotel was great about honoring the lower rate, but it was weird how it dropped like that, and I wondered what would have happened if I hadn't noticed the difference. Overall, great experience here and a relaxing place to visit.

James N.

Yelp
I am sure Six South is a nice hotel, but their booking system is inept. On 5/11/14 I made a reservation for 11/6/14 and received a confirmation e-mail. On 8/22/14 I cancelled my reservation. I received a cancellation confirmation e-mail on 8/22/14 and a second cancellation confirmation e-mail on 8/23/14. On 10/30/14 I received an "Enjoy Your Stay" e-mail. I replied to confirm that my reservation had indeed been cancelled and 8/22/14 and was assured that it had been cancelled and this e-mail was in error. On 11/14/14 I received a "Thank you for staying with us" e-mail. I replied again to confirm that I had cancelled. Aargh!!! As I have indicated, I have not had the pleasure of staying at Six South. From my dealings with staff members Jennifer, Richard, and Elizabeth over this, I can say that the staff is friendly and polite. Nevertheless, a polite staff and an attractive website, do not lessen the need for a competent booking system that effectively purges cancelled reservations. I urge Six South to fix its booking system, so that the booking and cancellation process can match the charm of the staff, the website, and (I presume) the hotel.

Yelp
I love the Bistro. Always great service from Jen! I have had dinner there twice. Their Bistro burger is one of the best in town. Candied bacon!! Beats the burger from Pine hands down! Great food. Great service. Good prices.

Yelp
Awesome place to stay when visiting Dartmouth. I always choose Six South. When I flew out at the last minute to help my Dartmouth student recover from surgery, once again I chose Six South. They were so kind and accommodating to both me and my daughter. She needed to recover at the hotel. The entire staff helped make a very stressful situation better. I give it 6+ stars!

Jim S.

Yelp
Dropping an urban chic wannabe hotel in the middle of a tiny New England town is awkward, but aside from design issues the hotel is...mostly okay. The major problems with the hotel are the lack of a guest laundry room (in a town that is lacking in laundromats!) and the hotel's desire to force guests to use $18/night valet parking. Also, the staff seems to be forced to use some kind of script when talking to guests, which just feels awkward. The design issues may be hard to fix, but it wouldn't be hard for management to provide a simple washer/dryer in the basement, and to allow guests to park their own cars. Also, the restaurant was less than impressive, especially for the price. The only reason I can see for using this hotel is it's in-town/close to campus location. As a workaround for the valet parking issue, information on convenient, nearby municipal parking is available at www.hanovernh.org/Pages/HanoverNH_Parking/index Just be aware of winter-time overnight parking rules.

Yelp
Higher end restaurant that was very good. Great staff and service with plentiful drink selection as well. For special occasions this is a great place.

Beata R.

Yelp
My relative stayed and was disappointed that the television package did not include PBS. (Last episode of Burns' Roosevelt shows). We weren't quite sure if it's the cable company's motivation or what. But it would be nice if hotels/motels paid "extras" for these radical channels.

Mark Q.

Yelp
Pretty pricey for what you get. Based on name and rate, I thought this would be a cool boutique hotel but rather it could be mistaken with any number of very average brands. The bad: moldy shower; HVAC sounded like a lawn mower was in the room. I opened the panel on the HVAC to investigate and the large metal frame fell out. Sadly , no change in noise level. In fairness, I did not bring this to the attention of staff, it was late & I used my earplugs and called it a night. The good: location is great - very walk-able to main street, onsite bar/restaurant with outdoor patio, free coffee stand in the lobby, fitness room was small but clean & usable

Michael H.

Yelp
This is the hotel's restaurant review only - we did not stay in the hotel (the decor and architecture is off-putting but that's beside the point here). We ate in the dining room one recent midweek evening and were the only people there. The bar is in the DR and a few people were at the bar, but we were the only seated diners. The food was O.K., not bad, not great. Service was O.K. also. The meal was generic pseudo up-market hotel fare. Ambience was minimal and not to our taste. We won't be eating here again.

Erin L.

Yelp
We recently stayed here for our wedding weekend that took place in Quechee. We reserved a block of rooms for our guests at SSS and from our very first interaction with the folks at SSS right down to the last, we experienced nothing but positive, helpful, flexible exchanges. Upon arrival we felt welcome. The staff has a way of making you feel right at home. They are sociable and accommodating and it is clear that they enjoy their job. We heard similar comments from our guests as well. The rooms at SSS are comfortable and reasonably priced in comparison to its neighbor down the street. I would certainly recommend a stay at SSS whether it be for business or pleasure.

Soliya N.

Yelp
The hotel itself is decent, but the customer service was pretty bad. First, I've NEVER been to a hotel that doesn't provide you with complementary toiletries. I thought it was really weird that you had to pay if you forgot toothpaste. I travel a ton and this is the first hotel ever I've seen this. On top of that, I asked if they could bring the toothpaste to my room as I didn't want to leave a sleeping baby alone and the woman at the front desk was extremely rude and refused. Also, no free parking - $17 per night. Definitely left much to be desired.

Eva C.

Yelp
When my boyfriend and I walked into the hotel at about midnight on December 23rd, laden with bags of gifts and wrapping paper, the gentleman at the front desk greeted us so warmly and then said, "Do you need any scissors or scotch tape for wrapping?" Our stay was perfect. The valet was fast and courteous, the staff was unfailingly kind and warm. We stayed here as an alternative to piling into the family farmhouse for the holiday. The beds were comfortable and clean. The location is fantastic -- right across the street from a terrific bakery! We're definitely coming back.

David C.

Yelp
We had a 7:30 reservation and planned to bring two out of town couples to dinner here. They were not impressed. Our meals were not delivered to the table until 9:30. At no point did a manager or our server explain the delay or apologize for it. This experience left us all befuddled, hungry, and owing our baby sitters more than should have been. It was hands down the worst restaurant experience I've had. I gave them one star because the bartender was very friendly.

Yelp
Stayed at Sixth St. South last week while in Hanover for a medical meeting. We were moved from Woodstock, VT as the flooding there had impacted the Woodstock Inn. The meeting was moved to the Hanover Inn and some attendees were lucky enough to be placed at Sixth St. South. The hotel was really fantastic. It is new, so the common spaces and the rooms are bright, clean and wonderfully appointed. Also, the hotel is dog friendly. They only charge a $25 cleaning fee per day if you bring your pet, which is much lower than most hotels. The location is wonderful. You can walk to all of the downtown Hanover stores and restaurants as well as to Dartmouth college. Also the staff at the hotel was fantastic. Everyone seemed to go the extra mile for the customer. When I checked in, my pup and I were greeted warmly, a treat was offered to my dog, and I was quickly helped to my room. The room was spacious, very clean, and quiet. Bed and bedding were super comfortable. Also room had a couch, a large desk area, a large flat screen TV, and a great bathroom area. We had a cocktail in the nice bar off the lobby, which also has an outdoor area for sitting if the weather cooperates. I ordered a salad for dinner, and the waiter in the restaurant offered to bring it up to my room ( even though room service is not really offered there). Food was delicious and very fairly priced. I will definitely stay at Six South again. Everything about our stay was perfect!

Yelp
Clean and new. Air and heat less obtrusive than alternative hotels in area. Super location for Dartmouth. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Having to valet a bit of a pain but worth it.

Yelp
I had the pleasure to stay here in April for a wedding and again in August for a conference. Really lovely, modern hotel, great service and staff. The location is perfect for anything involving Dartmouth. Free Starbucks coffee, luggage stowage, and a nice restaurant make this nice for business or pleasure.

Yelp
This is my first review on Yelp; our excellent experience at the Six South St Hotel has really driven me to get the word out about this spectacular place. We arrived early on a Friday morning after driving up from Boston, having arrived at 6 am from LA-- the staff let us check in at the ungodly early hour of 9:30 am, so we could rest before our tour of Tuck. Everyone was gracious, incredibly nice, and as helpful as could be. We later had a great time in the bar, grabbing a drink before dinner, and could easily see ourselves spending time in that same bar when we soon move to Dartmouth. The lobby is really nice too. There's even a cool little library corner. I understand the previous review about how "ugly" the building is, though I disagree. Hanover has many gorgeous old, stately buildings, and this building is certainly contemporary, but we weren't off put by its newness; it is just a facade, after all. More important is the interior, which is somewhat like the W's younger sibling. It's modern inside (see the website for representative pics) and I'm really glad we were able to stay within walking distance of the college. Everything's new since it was just opened two months ago- you can practically still smell the paint- and this will be a lovely option for parents visiting with their prospective Dartmouth students who are used to a more up-to-date hotel. The Hanover Inn is certainly historic and closer to the campus (by 2 blocks), but it's in need of updating. We heard via school staff that the Inn is actually going to be closed down partially for renovation, which it needs. There's some new competition in town!

Yelp
We stayed here one night after touring northern Vermont and we wanted to be closer to the Manchester airport for our flight home the next day. I selected this property because it seemed to be a good, non-chain hotel in a pretty small town. We found it to be attractive, clean and well kept. The rooms, though, were very small. There were three adults in our party and it was really tight. There is nothing real special about the hotel. I do feel that for what we got it was very, very overpriced. We couldn't even get an AAA or AARP discount. In addition to the exorbitant rate we also had to pay to valet park. We had breakfast in the restaurant and it was very mediocre and the waitress was very strange. I am glad we didn't eat dinner there. If I were in the area again I would not stay here unless the rate was half of what we paid.

Yelp
Great hotel right in the heart of downtown Hanover! Very central location, close to great shopping, and easily accessible. $20 valet parking seemed expensive but they were quick to get us our car and were very pleasant. Excellent staff! We had a late arrival (2am) and they were very accommodating. Quick check in/check out. The beds were very comfortable and the room was decorated appropriately. Great bakery right across the street. I will be recommending this hotel to my family and friends.

Yelp
Excellent location, second only to the Hanover Inn. But this one's new, so the rooms won't be as run-down and depressing as the one's at the Hanover Inn...yet. I just have to point out how ugly the building is. From the outside, it looks like cheap, student apartments at a big state college in the Midwest. If they wanted to have a nice looking hotel, appropriate to Hanover, they should have modeled the outside after the new Ledyard Bank building in town. Or any of the College-owned properties across the street from the hotel (eg, Umplbies, True Value, and Ramuntos). But I guess this is what happens when cheap-skate developers, rather than the College build stuff in town... Still, you can't beat the location, and the rooms are new. I guess that makes it the best choice for visiting Hanover. So if you have to visit Hanover, this should be your first choice in lodging. But if you live in Hanover, it is a cheaply-built, depressing eyesore, and not much of an upgrade over the old buildings it replaced. At the very least, the owners should shell out for some new windows that don't look so cheap.

Yelp
I am nursing my baby but had to travel to Hanover without him - so I was pumping and the hotel was so accommodating! I had contacted them ahead of time about whether they would be able to freeze my milk bags if I gave them a container and each and every staff member was informed about my request and welcoming. Anyone who is so comfortable and accommodating about their guest's breastmilk is 5-star in my books. Even the men were comfortable without skipping a beat. A+ in terms of service and staff. Apart from this, the service was pretty good, valet was good, the hotel room itself was clean and updated. One negative was that my room didn't have a bathrobe like they promised. Another negative was that the bathroom doesn't have an exhaust and the shower doesn't have a door so things can get wet. The style of the hotel is very modern so some people might get annoyed with that but I enjoyed it. and I'm glad they don't rip you off with charging for wifi.

Yelp
The highpoint of this hotel is definitely the very helpful, smart and interesting staff. Yeah front desk and valets! Even though the decor suggests they are aiming to look like a trendy NY hotel, the staff reminds us that it is a small town after all--albeit an intellectual small town, home of Dartmouth. In addition to the great staff, I appreciated the complimentary and bottomless access to the Starbucks carafe, and the small, but ok exercise room. A few things need some work to earn Six South a five star review: first the parking is really expensive, $18 a day. They may as well just roll this into the room cost and not have us feeling gouged. Second, the place aims for some green environmental stuff, yet the carpet (or something) emits a really toxic odor in the hallways. Third, the room stayed kind of dusty, and there weren't quite enough towels after replacements--overall not big deals, but not five stars. Finally, the restaurant and bar area are eerily empty. There was never more than one person dining here. The menu is posted in the elevator (not sure how this is appetizing) and nothing seems like anything beyond hotel wedding fare. [ If I were a consultant for this establishment, I would suggest they revamp the menu (the town has not one restaurant that specializes in healthy seasonal choices, despite a lot of runners, bikers, hikers and well educated people who tend to want some healthy choices).] I guess the above sounds kind of critical. But actually this is a really nice place to stay, and I would just like to see them get even better. Again, a shout-out to the great staff at the front desk and the valets.

Yelp
I spent one night at this hotel and it was incredible. The staff was friendly and helpful. They had my car ready for me in the morning before I came down to checkout. The room was comfortable and clean. The amenities were excellent including free WiFi. And most important, I left a tie in the room after I had checked out. When I called them they told me they found the tie and would send it to me, no charge. I got my tie in the mail 2 days later! Very impressive.

Yelp
I stayed at Six South Street during their first week open. What a BEAUTIFUL hotel!! It's right around the corner from Dartmouth College, which made everything within walking distance from the hotel! The Town is SO CUTE, with some great restaurants, bars, and shops that kept me busy in my down time. The hotel staff was AMAZING!! Some of the best I have ever encountered, and I travel quite frequently. The concept for the hotel is very chique & classy with a fun flair. The beds were VERY comfortable, the food was DELICIOUS & the service was superior! I will not stay anywhere else when I am in the Hanover area!! Thanks to the team, you all were exceptional!
