Where to Stay in Melbourne During Your Visit (Updated 2025)

"I recommend Sixty Two on Grey for budget-conscious families in St. Kilda — it's a short walk to the tram and about 12 minutes to Luna Park, offering apartment-style accommodations with kitchens and very comfortable beds at a friendly price." - Matthew Kepnes

I booked this hotel recently to go to the footy in Melbourne at the last minute. Just be careful as the streets outside can be very unsafe at night. I felt quite unsafe staying at the hotel as there were some unsavory characters coming and going at all hours day and night. I think one or two of the budget apartments at back are leased permanently, and some dealing is occurring. I spoke with the Manager Alex about this activity, and he didn't seem to care less.

Remotes for TV and air conditioner didn't work properly. The freezer was so iced over we couldn't fit our ice packs in for our lunch the next day. The windows needed backed curtains as the streetlights made it feel like trying to sleep in daylight.

I would not recommend this place to anyone, my room had mould in it and the owner was clearly trying to cover it up as he had left a dehumidifier in the room, I have tried many times to get a refund but the owner has not replied. Don't not stay here.

I don’t leave a lot of reviews and usually chalk up challenging moments with businesses as a bad hair day and move on. But this place is unbelievable. We paid for parking. The girl on property said she lost the key to the gate. The owner of business said it was booking.coms fault. Asked for refund and owner said not his problem as booking.com have the money not him. The gate is one of two main exits to the street in case of fire. Ended up leaving and did not stay overnight in Melbourne. Do not stay here its a fire safety risk and service is non existent

Wow! What an amazing experience. Check in process was so smooth and the rooms and amenities were lovely. The owners are extremely kind and helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone looking for a wonderful stay in a beautiful area of Melbourne ⭐️

Nice group of rooms in a fairly good location in St Kilda. The room was nice and clean and the balcony was a added bonus that was enjoyed. The two issues that I had was the odd reception area that was part cleaning area / part front office, looked unprofessional and screamed 'cheap' but I guess didn't necessary impact on the quality of the stay but was just odd. The main issue was the bed!! It squeaked like a hour year old door! no privacy, such a unnecessary issue when quality 'non squeaking' bed costs next to nothing for the amount it will be used. One of the worst beds I have ever stayed on and would never be on that again PLUS has reminded me to check the bed before accepting the room! Felt sorry for the persons staying underneath!! needs a remedy and FAST!!

Reasonable price.|It’s nice and quiet and i liked the aesthetic of it. We had a fridge breakdown but was solved quickly enough.|It really needed a deep clean. |I was happy to leave and move into a more comfortable hotel at the same prices.|If you can get a good deal then it’s worth it.|I felt I devalued myself settling for a cheaper space when there were others in better condition. |Good for an overnighter|I wouldn’t stay longer.|Nothing against the owners they are lovely but cleaning is important to me and I had to clean toilet and fridge myself .

I had already been in Melbourne for a week before I found this place. I had been paying more for a dodgy hotel that smelled like paint. When they were unable to extend my stay another few days I accidentally found 62 on Grey. And I wish I'd been staying here the whole time
