Beautiful camping ground but expensive for the low value you get (read: facilities).
Location: Great! With a stunning view to the glacier. Also the area to park your vans are well maintained. Not that many muddy experiences.
Hygiene facilities: Shower and toilets. Not super bad, but rather on the dirty side. They are included in the price.
Washing clothes: One washing machine and dryer which means you have to either wait endlessly or skip and wash your clothes elsewhere. On the good side: it’s included. But it eats your time.
Common area: There is only one outside area with 4 benches. Nothing indoors.
Food: No good restaurants in the area. You stop here to hike or to stay the night and keep moving.

Great campsite next to the glacier. It has really clean toilets / showers, the only thing we missed was a common area. There is a small area outside with picknick tables, but no place to charge phones, etc.

Good facilities overall, washing machines and dryer, plenty of showers and bathrooms. Have to good adventure and glacier tour companies on site and a park office for hiking recommendations and tours. Good place to camp if your planning ln a glacier hike.

This is a large campsite area at the Visitor Centre at Skaftafell National Park with loads of space for overnight camping. You can register and make payments at the Visitor Centre (9am to 7pm) or at the smaller reception building at the other end of the campground (8-10am and 7-20pm). Paid parking is covered with your overnight stay registration. ||Rates as of June 2025 are 2800kr per person. There is a large communal building in the centre of the campground with nice toilets and large shower (free). There is also free laundry but only one machine so be ready for a queue or give it a try very early in the morning before most others wake. Loads of space for everyone to spread their vehicles around but expect company as many stay here every night it seems. ||There are outdoor sinks for washing but no communal kitchen area. You'll find here is a food truck nearby and Visitor Centre cafe with a large seating area. There are glacier activity businesses here for booking and meet up. The national park trails basically start at the campground and Visitor Centre. You can walk up to Svartifoss and the other falls from here. ||Overall, this is a good campground with plenty of facility and activities. We liked our stay here and would gladly stay again.

Recommended campsite: There is plenty of space and nice quiet spots for self-sufficient vehicles, far away from the usual infrastructure. Washrooms are OK. There is also a good selection of washing machines.

Excellent location with beautiful views. Busy but lots of clean bathrooms and showers. Great hiking right from the campground. We have been camping in Iceland for a week now, and this the best place we have seen so far!
