"“Skara” means grill and that’s what you’ll get here. Set in a park behind the theatre, Skara Bar’s sole purpose is to satisfy every carnivore’s demand for mountains of meat. And when we say mountains we’re not kidding. Just order Skara Planina (a pun on Stara Planina, Bulgaria’s vastest mountain range) and you’ll get a kilogram of Skara Bar’s offerings. Beautiful!" - Next Digital Creative

I liked the grill offerings and the starters. Nothing fancy but very well prepared. It's a great place for outdoor seating. The buns are bad thought, they should improve on that and source better bread.

Food was good, but service, though nice, was extremely slow. They also missed a dish we asked. It was a sunny Sunday, the place was full, and they just weren't able to handle the amount of people in a quick time.

The first reastautant in Bulgaria with a real concept, without the eagerness to sound posh or to be offering something with a modern twist. Proper Bulgarian BBQ, I highly recommend the kebapche, kiufte, or pork chops, like everything on the menu they come with side fries and salad. If you ever wondered how all restaurants in the 70s in Bulgaria looked, you have the answer. Simple, delicious, and you always get the best attitude.

Love the place. The food is delicious. The staff is nice. If you are barbecue lover, definitely check it out! I also loves the "shkembe chorba"!!! I love how one can order a normal portion, but also 1 kg from the barbecued meat part of the menu. The location is great - near the center, yet in the nice quieter park... perfect for the summer.

Overall review - excellent • Customer service - great, staff makes you feel welcome and service is fast. - the fast service and the fact that it's located below a theater makes this a great place to eat before a play. • Atmosphere - the Establishment is clean and organized, it has a cozy and light mood, great for casual gatherings with friends or significant other. - I would also recommend it as a place for a small party. - there is music but it's not too loud and it doesn't interfere with conversation - great place for families. • Food - The food is tasty, well seasoned and the portion sizes are good - From the dishes I tried * The beef burger was juicy. The bun was perfect * The beef patty is similar to the burger but without the bread. It was also well made. *Chicken fillet very tender and juicy, unlike any other I've eaten. * The desert - chocolate brownie with ice cream was nice, it was a bit on the dry side but it wasn't too bad, with the ice cream it was good. • Other - Location it's in a great location and it's easy to find - Price as it is in the center of Sofia it is more expensive than other places but I'm my opinion it's worth it. - Hygiene facilities, something that I find very important for a restaurant and I'm happy to say that the facilities that this restaurant offers are great. • Conclusion This is a great restaurant for casual gatherings, it's family friendly and the food is excellent. I would come again

It's definitely not a restaurant as it's made out to be. It is absurd to serving the food directly on the table, even without a disposable serving mat, to put the utensils in a mini-bucket together with the napkins. Yes, for a neighborhood establishment it might be an acceptable place, but only that much. The service was slow, the waiter definitely had a hard time writing down exactly how each meat should be cooked - medium or more rare and which salad should not be seasoned with vinegar and salt. After reviewing the menu, one finds that if you are a vegan or fasting, you can only order a green salad. The waiter didn't even know what the asterisk on the hummus menu meant, and what it contained. The menu itself does not contain the allergens for each food, and of course, a list of allergens is missing.

This is the best place I've been to in Sofia. Beautiful location, wonderful staff, delicious food, desert and drinks. If you visit Sofia you should more than definitely make sure to eat here.
