From start to finish our time at Skillogalee Estate was such an amazing experience. We dined at the Barrel House and the service and food was sublime. We also were lucky to stay at the Owl Cottage on the estate which was wonderful. The cottage was so beautiful, clean and cozy. They even provided items for breakfast such as local bacon, eggs, milk and bread. The added special extras that they provided just added to the best experience. Thank you so much! We hope to come back soon!

We can’t comment on food, as we came for a wine tasting only. From the moment we arrived, we were made welcome and the ambience of the Barrel House was much more than we’d anticipated too. However, the stand out was our host Iris. She did an outstanding job, providing a superb introduction to the wines, and optimising our experience by being attentive, but not hurrying us at any stage. We chose to finish with an extra relaxing glass of the sparkling Riesling in the lounge area. Our experience exceeded expectations at every stage. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Beautiful new venue with tastings amongst the wine barrels. The person who walked me through my tasting was lovely and allowed me to try 5 of the range since I was driving. The warm towelette at the start of the tasting was a nice touch. The food also looks great but will come back to try another time. Walked out happy and with a few wines to share.

Beautiful location and good ambience eating amongst the wine barrels. Service was fine but lacked energy. The Shiraz was exceptional and the food was awesome - could not fault it The ice cream dessert was phenomenal

Our stay in Owl Cottage was amazing and lunch was superb. We could not fault anything. Thank you for making our stay fantastic. The night time visit from an echidna was brilliant. Thank you again from 4 very happy guests.

Always hard to beat. A long favourite of ours, we were concerned about the limited menu in the new Barrel House set up - we certainly needn't have been! Everything was outstanding - food delicious and plentiful, wine always top class, and best of all the service. What a welcome change to dine somewhere with properly trained, attentive and friendly staff. You never have to catch someone's eye for another drink. Staff are always keeping an eye on you, even when they are busy. There when you need them without being asked, but fading away when you have everything you need. Thanks, Skillogalee - dining with you was leagues ahead of other high end Clare dining experiences in the same week. Looking forward to exeriencing the new Rising Sun in the near future. And a special shout out to the chef for stopping by the table - my husband is still raving about the fish!

We have been to Skillogalee for lunch for many years. Unfortunately our recent trip to the new restaurant location was overpriced and underwhelming. The size of our group meant that we had to opt for a ‘feed me’ menu ( this has never been the case in the past ), there was only an option for 3 courses which is quite inflexible for lunches. We were only offered 2 dishes for each course and they were not of our choosing. The food was quite nice but both of the desserts were disappointing - an icecream dish and a cheese platter with a tiny insipid piece of cheese. There are restaurants in the Clare Valley that offer much better value for money and variety. Won’t be back

Absolutely beautiful. We had the 3 course lunch which we could not fault. Service was amazing and left with a bottle of the most beautiful tasting Muscat. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Skillogalee Wines was the most disappointing of our wine tour. The tasting area was miniscule, and it was difficult to fit everyone in there comfortably. There were 15 of us, and the staff seemed quite put out that we were crowding the space. One of them also seemed quite put out that we were there at all, and was on auto-pilot as she was pouring the wines. We had to ask quite often what it was that we were drinking, as she didn't bother telling us. I get the feeling that she thought we were just another drunk wine tour bus (not true), and didn't bother to find out whether we were serious about wine (which we were!). We were given some lovely wines to taste ... but they were way overpriced for what they were (one was $70 per bottle!!) - then again, the woman didn't give us much of a chance to savour the flavours, as she was rushing to get through them all and get us out of there. I don't think any of us purchased any wine there - and I think this was due mainly to the attitude of the staff. Won't be back here!
