Best place to eat in Coral Bay that we have found. Reasonable prices and good food. Game that kids or adults could play while you wait for your food. Our server Jess was great.

Skinny Legs is a funky, popular eatery at the east end of St John in Coral Bay. Mostly burgers and sandwiches with a busy bar. It's very good at what it does. Good food, fun atmosphere, decorated with college pendants and police department decals on the posts and rafters. Perfect lunch spot.

If you get a chance to visit Skinny Legs don’t miss it. The food and atmosphere are great. Try the daily special. The drive is a bit tricky if you are not use to the left handed driving, but the views on the way are so worth it. Michelle in the gift shop was so friendly.

Google
Great place to eat lunch on a beach day. The burgers were some of the best I have ever had and we even went back a second day. Very big burgers so it is plenty to fill you up. I strongly recommend trying the daily special. Atmosphere is great and staff is very friendly.

Google
Great burgers. Wish it was on the water but mixed between a few beach visits it’s perfect

Anytime we’re in the Virgin Islands, Skinny Legs is a staple! Over a week stay in the Coral Bay Area, we probably come here 4-5 times. The burgers and key lime pie are always refreshing after a long day at the beach or snorkeling. Service is great and prices are fair for the island!

Google
Great atmosphere and vibes! We stopped in for some drinks and afternoon snack after several hours enjoying the beach. The specialty cocktails hit the spot and the Red Stripe was nice and cold. We split the mahi sandwich which had a big piece of perfectly grilled fish. Loved the music and sports on tv. There was also an amazing shop attached to the restaurant with lots of clothes and souvenirs.

Google
Very nice spot in Coral Bay. Outdoor covered seating with a fun atmosphere. Simple menu of burgers and sandwiches. Turkey and Swiss was a winner. Key lime pie was frozen and tasted so-so. Highly recommend if you're in Coral Bay.

Yelp
We had our New Year's Eve, '23 dinner at Skinny Legs. What a blast! The place was quite full, and we had a short wait at the bar, but service was very good. We had rum punch, painkillers, a bushwacker... all were some of the best we had on the island. There was live music, and the guitarist kept encouraging us to give a cheer for Skinny Legs, which everyone was happy to do. For dinner, we had the amazing blue cheese burgers. If you're a blue cheese fan, like my wife, this'll be one of your favorite meals. I enjoy blue cheese, but the generosity of the cheese was a bit much for me. Next time we go, my wife will get the same thing, and I'll switch over to cheddar. We finished with Skinny Legs legendary key lime pie. Outstanding. A lovely way to ring in the New Year!

Yelp
Pretty much perfect for lunch! We drove over to Coral Bay for the day and a local we had met in Cruz Bay recommended this since we have kiddos. We got there right when they opened and it quickly filled up. I had the drink special and they even made the kids Virgin cocktails with juice and coconut cream. I had what was perhaps the most delicious BLT of my life: the bacon was piled high, and super crispy, lettuce was fresh, and tomatoes had so much flavor. Everyone else all enjoyed their meals too. They have a large patio area and a really neat jellyfish sculpture. It was the perfect place for a chill lunch prior to departure! It's easy to miss! Once in the parking lot, the entrance is either through the gift shop (perfect ending to the meal) or up an undefined short flight of steps off the parking lot.

Yelp
Really loved the food here! This place has delicious juicy hefty burgers. They don't serve fries here so I got the Greek salad- one of the best I've had in a long time! Fresh ingredients, nice staff and the bar vibe was cool.

Yelp
Classic place. Food was tasty, atmosphere was great, and staff was friendly. The gift shop also had a wide selection. Loved it all, what a fun experience!

Yelp
Super bummed to downgrade this place. But, we stopped in three times during our most recent vacation...disappointed all three times. We kept hoping it was just an off day/time. But, after the same experience three times, we had to assume it was the new norm. Last time, we loved the food, the drinks, the service, and the beach dive vibe. We just really liked the place. This time, the service was friendly.  But, the beach dive vibe had shifted much more toward the divey side.  The drinks were fine, but we recall them being more memorable.  And the food definitely wasn't as good...we loved the food last time. This trip, our burgers were not cooked as ordered (kept getting rare when we ordered medium-well), buns for the burgers kept falling apart, and the chips were always soft...like the humidity had gotten to them. Just a real bummer.  Hopefully we'll have a better experience when we visit during our next vacation.

Yelp
fun bar / restaurant w yummy burgers, sandwiches and cocktails. Got the mahi mahi sandwiches (comes with chips or salad) to go! Everyone loves the painkillers!

Yelp
Loved the chill vibes at Skinny Bar and Grill. Rather kitchy in decor with a structure meant to evoke a jellyfish in the backyard dining area. Very casual with good music playing -- even some Procol Harum - A Whiter Shade of Pale. I think they might have had an off- night with regard to service. There was a 45 minute wait for our meals and then we were given another table's check. It was so dark we almost ended up paying it, although it was quite a bit higher than our own. It took quite a bit of time to resolve, but it was correctly resolved. And BTW, food and drink prices were very reasonable and beers were inexpensive (comparatively to many other places, even in the States!) Now, to the most important aspect of the evening: the food. The turkey reuben on toasted sourdough bread was DELICIOUS! I wish I took a picture, but it was getting dark out and -- more importantly -- I was famished and could not wait to dig in. And, truth be told, a picture would not do the sandwich justice. The turkey, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and sourdough bread came together to make magic! If you ever find yourself in St. John's, make your way to Skinny Legs and get the turkey reuben! P.S. There is a nice sized parking area and some street parking.

Yelp
Great food, terrific vibes and energy from the staff Drinks were legit and the prices were actually good, like not tourist good but good good

Yelp
Great day spot after exploring the island and snorkeling. Burgers and Key Lime Pie. Fine for kids in the afternoon.

Melanie P.

Yelp
Cute place on St. John! We ordered the the hamburgers and grilled mahi mahi sandwich, which were delicious. The drinks were great, too!
google avatar

Katie N.

Yelp
We heard many people say we HAD to try this place and every time we drove by the parking lot was full. It definitely channels the island bar and grill vibes with chickens roaming around and a shabby but fun decor. Servers were friendly but it was a bit slow. We all ordered burgers, I got the daily special burger. The burgers were served with potato chips as the restaurant proudly touts it doesn't have a deep frier. My burger was tasty but some of the others at my table were undercooked. Overall a good place to eat but perhaps not quite as good as the hype. If you are staying on the east end of the island, I highly recommend stopping in.

Yelp
Great burgers, drinks, service, and atmosphere...what are you waiting for? We had intended to eat elsewhere in Coral Bay, but after smelling the burgers on the grill we decided to eat here instead...and were SO happy we did. The burgers were spectacular and all cooked as requested (two medium rare and one medium), the Milagro Margarita and USVI beer on tap tasty, and even the salad was delicious and chock full of fresh veg. The service was great (provided by "Willbobaggins"!) and the 'island bar' vibe completely on point. So come here and eat already!

Yelp
Skinny legs is a great outdoor spot for a post-hike meal. They've got a cute shop with all the souvenirs you'll want, food, and a outdoorsy patio. The food was nothing too special but it was also not too pricey. Value-wise it was good. (I got the burger with a side salad. I should note that the side salad really isn't too much of a salad, see attached pictures. Also, I'll note that all is served on paper plates which adds to the campy vibe but decreases the "fanciness" of the meal if that's what you're looking for). I enjoyed the outdoor seating post-hike and perusing the gift store as we waited to get a taxi. TRANSPORT: I would note that it was hard to get picked up by a taxi here. Not many stop by. So be sure to have an arranged plan if you are a tourist. SERVICE: The staff was friendly and helpful in both the store and the restaurant.

Yelp
My friend had the jerk chick sandwich and said it was the best chicken sandwich she ever had! I have no pics to post because the food is solid. Good. we ate it all within 5 minutes!! Great vibe. And the staff (bless them, they work so hard!!) so cool and friendly. JP is the man!!

Yelp
Skinny Lega is known for its burgers, but I absolutely loved my Greek salad topped with fresh fish. The salads are organic and locally grown. My cocktail was delish. My server was awesome. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
We always stop for lunch at skinny legs. Great vibe, delicious burgers and sandwiches, and nice service. Then go snorkel at haulover. If you go to corral bay you need to eat there.
google avatar

Jon P.

Yelp
Drinks were well priced and delicious. Pretty cool that they a drink of the day special. The food was all over the place. It makes sense why they are known for their burgers - yummy brioche bun and flavorful meat patties. However, they are only served with ruffle chips (likely store bought at a cheap value). Nothing special about the chips. Also their "dip of the week" was a spinach artichoke dip and we are pretty sure we just got some random premade or store sour cream dip with small chunks of spinach (served cold). Only come for the burgers!

Yelp
A Coral Bay institution. It's family friendly, it's drunk off your gourd friendly, it's locals friendly, it's tourist friendly- this place is what defines Coral Bay and we love it. Good food and drinks and it's just a happy place to be.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect if you need a bite and need to get out of the sun while waiting for the bus heading back to the ferry. It's a very American style restaurant, very Applebees, like with college memorabilia/flags hanging all over. The food was ok but the piña colada was very tasty. The service was very good and quick. Not as Caribbean as I would like with the flavors but St Johns is part of the US. It's located behind a gift shop and next to a fire house so try not to miss it.
google avatar

Yelp
Iconic stop for any St John USVI vacation. Burgers, local favorite GTO (grilled cheese, tomato and onion), drink specials and the island vibe.

Jack B.

Yelp
This was one of the destinations we were told to go to it was horrible. I walked in saw table for two and decided to sit down right by the entrance. We then sat there for 15 minutes while the staff and the only server actually working pranced around us. I had to get up and ask them if we can have a server, they gave me blank stairs, and I asked did I do something wrong, the server replied, "you sat yourself, don't do that again", it was disgusting belittling, and not needed! I flew all the way from upstate New York. We were told this place was excellent. It is garbage. Also do not even think about using the toilet. It is nasty save your time happiness and money. Do not go to skinny legs.! Also, it smells like cat piss everywhere

Yelp
I'd read the reviews so knew the food would take a while to come. We were a table who got 3 different burger plus a lentil veggie burger. I'd get the veggie burger next time. I know people love big burgers, but for me this was too big. Hubby and son each finished there. I took more than half of mine home. First painkiller on the island was a mango painkiller here, and it was nice. Place is packed, waiters are wonderful, food is filling, and for 4 adults, 1 alcoholic drink and 1 tea, came to $95 including tip. For St John this is a very reasonable place. We would go back if we are craving burgers. Very casual, laid back, nice crowd. Definitely felt like island time here.

Charles C.

Yelp
The food was outstanding. The ambience was perfect, and the service was great as well.

Yelp
I have been to St. John many times and finally had an opportunity to go to Skinny legs and it did not disappoint. If you are looking for a romantic restaurant then this is not the place. It's a fun Caribbean bar with good food and drinks. FYI.... It does get busy and you might have to wait awhile but it's definitely worth it. I had the cheese burger which was to die for! Yummy. My girlfriend had the hamburger which she thoroughly enjoyed. One thing.. the burgers do not come with fries. Only chips. Our bartender was very nice and attentive. If you are ever in Coral Bay.... Go to Skinny Legs! It's a fun place. Worth the drive for a great burger! FYI.. they do have a parking lot.

Yelp
i think this may have been the best burger of my life. it was INCREDIBLE. our server, tyler was kind and attentive, and the mango pankilllers were also awesome. the vibe of the place was u unique too, with the college/sports posters everywhere it made dining fun while searching for our schools and teams. overall would go back!!!

Yelp
Had a tasty chicken salad in the lovely setting of Skinny Legs when we arrived in Coral Bay St. John USVI. The service was prompt and the restaurant clean. The menu is a bit limited with burgers and salads but the beverage options are unlimited. Prices are good.

Yelp
Ate at skinny legs with the family. Great prices and delicious food. Drinks were really good too. The adults Dr. Pepper was good and the raspberry lemonade drink was delicious. My blue cheeseburger was super delicious too! Great place to eat with a great atmosphere and prices!

Yelp
This is a great little restaurant that has that "beach bum" vibe. We came here for a late lunch and was able to be seated right away. There are some tables underneath a covered area and some out in the open. They are picnic table style and there is a small bar area with TVs. There is also a kids area with a few toys like a hula hoop that entertained our kids. Our server took some time to get with us after we were seated, but we were able to get water before then as it is self serve. The menu is basic, but good and well priced for the island. I got the blue burger and the patty was was well sized and you could tell the beef was high quality. It is there special blend and the bun nice and soft. They do not have frozen drinks here, which was a bummer for me. But at least you did not have to hear the blender sound super loud while you ate. We had the homemade key lime pie, there only dessert, and it was amazing! Parking was easy in their shared lot and the bathrooms were clean.
google avatar

Erick H.

Yelp
My partner and I came around 2pm, and there was plenty of parking around. We were seated right away and had our drink orders taken. The food was good and we had great service, but the reason I'm leaving the bad review is because they don't use any reusable silverware, plates or cups. My salad order came with the dressing in a plastic cup on the side. Virtually everything is single use plastic that is thrown away. At least having metal forks and knives would be nice. The dressing could be in a small refillable squirt bottle like the ones used for ketchup and mustard at sporting event concession stands. Reusable options would be significantly more beneficial for the environment and more specifically, the local environment of St John. I can only imagine the immense amount of trash they make each day as I know none of it is being placed in recycling.
google avatar

Whitney R.

Yelp
We stopped by here on out to a boating excursion at Lime Out. Just wanted to grab some drinks. Note for visitors - drinks only means you get out "in the yard". Lol which was fine. Drinks were a great price and tasty. Too bad we weren't able to try food.
google avatar

Danielle R.

Yelp
Been going to Skinny Legs for many years, burgers are good, service is friendly, but the restrooms are still disgusting. ITS TIME to upgrade. Will not be going back. Sorry.
google avatar

Babbs B.

Yelp
There is nothing not to love about Skinny Legs! We eat here every time we visit St. John. The food and drinks are great, the service is friendly and while it is a tourist joint, you still get a locals vibe. We'll see y'all in a few days!
google avatar

Wyatt L.

Yelp
this was the most unhygienic restaurant i've ever been to. when i went inside there was one guy on the grill and making the sandwiches. he would handle raw meat with his hands and then touch other plates without washing his hands. the closest thing to hygiene was the one rag he used to wipe the grill, the walls, and his hands. if i ever come back it will only be for the shop as I'm afraid i would get food poisoning.
google avatar

STEVE B.

Yelp
Skinny Legs is as advertised - a local tradition serving great burgers in a rustic & historic, open-air Coral Bay location. Don't be surprised if a few cats rub on your leg or a rooster struts by during your dinner. As you might expect on the island - service is a combination of experienced locals and college aged kids - some more customer focused then others. I did get a lecture for standing in the wrong area for bar drinks and once positioned appropriately- bar service was a bit methodical. All good tho - we enjoyed our dinner. Drinks were cold , burgers tasty and it was great to experience a local legendary spot.

Yelp
Stopped at this place twice with slightly different experience. Their lentil veggie burger is awesome and I had the rum punch which was very well put together. Great customer service the first day. The second time the food was good again but the coconut swizzle(?) had a rancid taste. When I pointed to the server(Tyler/skyler) he remade the drink but with the same rancid taste. He didnt come back till the check. Definitely did not know or care about customer service.
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
Our family always stops in here for lunch when on the island. Food is good, drinks are cold, and the prices are great. Very kid friendly too. Kids and wife had burgers and dogs. Burgers are huge. I tried the jerk chicken special with grilled pineapple, mango chutney, and pepper jack cheese. Winning! Plus they have a store with t-shirts, hats, stickers, and other fun stuff. It's the worth the drive from Cruz Bay. Check this place out and help support a local institution.

Yelp
We've gone to skinny legs the last few times we've visited St. John and it did not disappoint. We were all wondering if we remembered it being better than it actually was after a Long Beach day and lots of drinks but the food was so so good. We all got the daily special burger with cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, and jalapeño aioli but two of us subbed grilled chicken for burger. They were all delicious. Everything was cooked well and so flavorful. Also, the bushwackers were like dessert :)
google avatar

Yelp
Great food great service great people love this place! This place is very popular, and always has a great turn of business!!!

Yelp
Great burgers, drinks, and great service! Highly recommend! Great margarita, great key lime colada and burgers were delicious.

Yelp
Stopped at this lively outdoor bar and grill on our way back to Cruz Bay after snorkeling in Haulover Bay. It has a fun open-air layout, complete with chickens, rooster, peeps, and drooling cat named Panther who all roam about the restaurant. We had a BLT (lots of bacon), a hamburger, a cheeseburger, and a couple of Reubens. All served with chips. They were all good, though the hamburgers were cooked medium instead of medium rare as ordered. I'm not a fan of adding tips to the bill for parties of five, but in this case the service was good. Good food, good service, fun ambiance, and reasonable prices.
google avatar

Justin H.

Yelp
Great fish sandwich and merch. As expected, the people are the best part. Always happy and helpful. Good food and good times.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Delicious BIG burgers and sandwiches! The drinks are really good and fun too. And they have a really great gift shop attached. Service was good and quick while we were there. I would definitely go back!
google avatar

Kate T.

Yelp
While in Coral Bay we were told we had to hit Skinny Legs for their burgers and drinks. There is a large bar with open table seating with servers. Although there may be chickens running around, they are all part of the atmosphere. Service was on point and the burgers were great. Although my burger was a little past medium it was still good and came with all the fixings..and was huge! They have two shops in the front and side where they sell T-Shirts and other beach items..of which I had to buy a shirt. I would recommend this be a stop if you're in the Coral Bay Area.
google avatar

Stephanie L.

Yelp
Great grub! & side bar, their gift shop is Amazing! Reasonable, plentiful, gifts galore. Worth a wander. This place just oozes local. Whether or not it is, is a different story. The layout is beach casual with wooden benches for seating. It's rustic but happening. It also just has a great vibe. They're known for their burgers and sandwiches. the winner on our visit was the Reuben. Although my burger was just fine too, and bunless per my request. It was juicy and perfectly flame-broiled. Another highlight was the brownie, quickly followed by the banana cream pie. Yum! As shown in pics but worth restating, this place is casual. Plastic ware, plastic cups and paper plates are to be expected. They do serve beer & wine. Expect chickens & kittens to run beneath your feet while dining here. They're all over the place looking for scraps and oddly coexisting.
google avatar

Rob T.

Yelp
Service was great, food was great, location was great. Win, win, win. Worth a stop for anyone. We enjoyed a gluten free, vegan meal after an afternoon snorkeling.

Yelp
Just a fun little place! Folks were nice, great drive up to see. Burgers were tasty! A must go to while in St. John.

Yelp
We had reservations this Tuesday night. We were told they are done for the night. Then some small man with man bun d bag decided yo be a tough guy with one of my nicest friends in the world. He acted like us being there was a challenge to his tiny manhood. It's hard to want to go to a place that has has a representative with small manhood matched with small customer service. Some people's lack of human manhood trumps their ability to be a good person.

Camille H.

Yelp
I wish I had the name of the cook Wednesday & his female assistant. I had been traveling for 2 days & wasn't truly hungry but this place was recommended. Mark the bartender was very nice. I asked about the burgers bc again, not hungry. Mark said "ask him & her". Omg-that blue cheese burger/med/rare was amazing. I've been all over the world-gotta say, it's the best I've had in forever. I ate every morsel.

Yelp
Generally good food but inexperienced wait staff and poor management. Very busy night, kitchen grill fire, no update to customers waiting over an hour for their food. Manager left and left the poor front line staff to deal with it. Found out a 'large to go order' put them further behind. So clearly, call in your order as you will get preference over customers who show up in person.

Yelp
5 stars given to the coolest people on the entire island of St John. We came in to watch our Sat night College Football games and had so much fun. Seriously where do I begin. A shaved headed gentleman who appeared to run the joint was super chill with us despite how insanely busy it was. Put our games on the TV when we asked. Brought us some of the cheapest yet satisfying drinks you ever saw. The food smelled like we were hanging out at our best friends backyard cook out. Just want to say a quick shout out to Sam and Justin who took care of us and let us stay late to watch our games. These are the type of people that made us wish we lived here. All love at skinny legs. One of my favorite bars or all time.
