The most delicious fresh seafood I've had in a long time. The scallops and langoustines were incredible. The view of Skipness castle and the Isle of Arran just rounded off the experience!

Great stuff this. Seafood platter, half a lobster, scallops. With a wine and a beer. Scallops and salmon excellent. Good value, under £70. Lobster very tasty and for under 20 notes you can’t complain.

4 adults and a dog, stopped for lunch on a hot summers day, sat in the garden on a mixture of seating, which was probably the only downside, not that comfortable after an hour. We all had crab roll, nothing special, then shared a plate of languastine, very meaty, 6 oysters, first time for me, don’t see the fuss about them and king scallops, again very meaty and my favourite. A few drinks each and a very leisurely lunch, if in the area well worth the visit, quality of the fish was best we had in that area

Lovely fresh tasting seafood. Very small portions. I had the salmon platter and my partner had the scallops. This was a late lunch and we had to fill up on bread. Good produce, but needs work to entice people back. Probably more of a tourist trap to be honest. Lovely surroundings, right next to Skipness castle. The staff were friendly. There’s indoor and outdoor eating areas. Probably wouldn’t go back if I’m completely honest. The smokehouse produce is available online, and I’d probably buy it for a special occasion.

The best seafood place we have ever eaten in. Fresh food, great prices, and the service is outstanding! Our first visit was 20 years ago when it was much smaller and we were thrilled to see it thriving now. We visited multiple times on our visit to the area and enjoyed every bit of it. Wish we lived closer as it would be our favourite place. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, we actually miss seeing them now that we are home. Make sure not to miss this fantastic seafood served with a smile. Near Skipness beach and Castle, it has beautiful views and access to the beach beyond the castle. There is also a smokehouse offering a variety of fish and souvenirs.

If you like seafood, then this place is worth a visit. It's off the beaten track, but it is a well-worn track. Highly recommended. Fantastic views to boot.

After reading so many glowing reviews, we were genuinely excited to visit Skipness Seafood Cabin and try their seafood from the local smokehouse. We travelled a long way—over two hours—and were really looking forward to it. The final stretch of road is narrow with passing places, which adds to the sense of adventure, but also makes the journey more demanding. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on the food, because we weren’t served. Despite arriving at 2pm and seeing available tables, the staff refused to seat us, saying they were extremely busy. I understand that peak times can be challenging, but turning customers away without offering the option to wait or even explaining how long the delay might be is disappointing and, frankly, unprofessional. We would have happily waited if told there was a delay. Instead, we were simply turned away after a long journey, which felt dismissive and poorly handled. A restaurant with such a strong reputation should be better prepared to manage busy periods and communicate with customers respectfully. Sadly, based on this experience, I can only give one star.

Visited the cabin for an excellent lunch. Excellent mixed seafood platter for two with mussles, a good selection served with a mixed basket of fresh bread and butter. Two thick slices of tasty fresh home made cake - one orange, one chocolate. There was plenty to eat. Very good, well-chilled bottle of white wine. Total bill £76 for two.

Yelp
This little spot off the beaten path near the ferry is an absolute must! While heading over to the ferry, we were looking for a place to have lunch and nothing seemed to be open. Came across this and was a little skeptical on the location alone, but it showed open so we went for it and boy was it worth it! Driving out to a castle ruin, the cabin is just off the water looking to the west with free-air tables and farm next to. All the seafood is freshly caught and prepared to order, and absolutely amazing. When in Scotland, mussels are an absolute must! We had the full seafood platter plus the mussels and we all wanted to eat more and more. If we didn't have to catch the ferry to Islay, we could have easily stayed for a second helping and enjoyed the view and laid back atmosphere. The staff is friendly and wonderful and it's just a picturesque place to eat.

Yelp
The Seafood Cabin has got to be in your top ten list of places to visit before you die! As you walk to The sleepy remote village of Skipness down a remote single track road you may start to give up thinking there cant be anything much beyond. Then you turn a corner and the point of what feels like the end of the beautiful earth and you will join maybe 100 other lucky people at picnic tables in the grounds of Skipness house, surrounded by farm animals and a stunning view of The Isle of Arran, dining on huge platters of seafood dripping in garlic butter, bread and good wine finishing with great coffee and homemade orange cake. Very reasonably priced! Its pretty amazing! Just go....

Yelp
Spent a purely fantastic afternoon here eating a wonderful selection of fresh seafood and wandering the grounds of Skipness Castle. Good food, good beer, and a beautiful location. If you are in the area, do not miss this! The only qualm I could mention would be that the foul weather seating looked a bit tight and dingy, but in anything other than a gale, I'd recommend a visit.
