Lovely hotel on the fjord. We enjoyed the midnight sun, admiring the fjord from our window at 11:00PM.|Pleasant scenic deck afforded a great cocktail hour. Dinner was delicious and staff were fantastic. Lovely place to stay.

We stopped at Hotel Skjolden for lunch, upon the recommendation of a Norwegian we met on the Solvorn/Ornes ferry. What a great tip! We were seated on the back deck, overlooking the beautiful fjord. We enjoyed a hamburger and delicious fishsoup. As we were the only diners, we enjoyed great service and a nice talk with the restaurant manager.

The hotel’s only real asset is its beautiful location, but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. Staff were pleasant enough, but the accommodation was disappointing. The room and bathroom were both cramped, dated and poorly equipped, with only one pillow per bed. Curtains let in a lot of light, making sleep difficult, and the room was uncomfortably cold as the heating didn’t work. Food options were extremely limited, with no vegetarian choices at all. The spa, which was prominently advertised, closed early at 7 pm and did not feel integrated into the overall hotel experience. Overall, the setting is lovely, but the experience is underwhelming and poor value.

Older hotell that has been refurnished, and holds a good standard. The view is great, and the food is fantastic. Even better is the service, which is open and friendly no matter who or when you talk to.

We arrived the hotel Friday June 7th together with 3 other couples. Great hospitality and welcome. The location of the hotel is just perfect by the fjord and the view is so nice. Great lobby area and outside area to take it all in, and enjoy the place. Nice rooms, and make sure to order a room with sea view. Dinner was perfect, and all staff very friendly. Can be highly reccommended.

Family owned, friendly, helpful staff .... The women owner gave us great info on where to hike.|Beautiful views from the room and dinning room.|The food was the best we had in three weeks in Norway. The 3 course menu was different every night. The rooms were nice, modern and very clean. |Very relaxing sitting on the terrace before dinner with the view of the fjord.|We travel every month in the summer to some European country and stay in a lot of very nice hotels. 4 and 5 Star hotels. I can highly recommend the Skjolden hotel.

We loved this cute, historic hotel located right at the innermost corner of the sognefjord in the cute little town called Skjolden. My family and I were wanting an off the beaten path vacation in Norway, and Skjolden was just the place. Beautiful fjord views from the hotel and our room, and the host was so lovely and accomodating. When we were soaked from a hike, she was able to do our laundry and have it ready promptly the next morning. In addition, the food is delightful - we tried both the bar food and their restaurant both nights and one of our favorite dishes was from here. Highly recommend. It’s quite a simple, no-frills hotel with the rooms being quite plain, but you don’t need much when you have the beautiful fjord view.

First impressions of the hotel itself and our «mountain view» room were slightly disappointing, but we slept well and the room was clean and perfectly adequate. The swimming pool is large and in an adjacent building, with access from outside and appeared to be open to non-hotel guests too, though we were the only ones using it at the time.|The fixed 4 course meal with wine package was sensationally good, and though expensive, an unforgettable experience, matching the view of the fjord from the restaurant. Even salad and pasta from the bar menu were of an unexpectedly high standard. Breakfast was however mediocre, even compared to regular Norwegian standards.||Adequate parking space was available, as were several EV chargers. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. We will definitely return next year.
