I have always love the Skunk Hollow Tavern since I moved to the area in1993. The food, the local community and the feeling of home. It is without doubt a feeling of comfort. This past evening I brought 14 people to enjoy this bit of Vermont to celebrate a very successful event. The Skunk did not disappoint!!! Thank you to all the staff and Gretchen for cooking amazing dishes. Love all “Mikey”

What a lovely place! My partner and I liked it so much that we had to come back for a second night. Our favorites were: the fish and chips friand (asparagus and brie in puff pastry) the augustus cocktail the maple crème brûlée Highly recommend stopping here, trying the delicious food and getting to know the locals!

As a local, it was hard to believe this place could be so good since we had never heard about it and it is in the middle of nowhere! Went for a friend's birthday dinner and, wow, what a treat! It is in several small rooms of a very old house that used to be an inn. The eclectic atmosphere and historic ambiance made for a warm and homey vibe. You need to make reservations because seating and parking are limited. We sat at the bar, which seats 6, where Heidi took great care of us. What a sweetheart! The drinks were amazing, and the food was top-notch, local, fresh, everything made from scratch!! This means it takes a little longer to prepare, and it was pricey but well worth it for a special occasion. We will definitely be back! It is family-owned, and everyone, even the chef, interacted with the guests - you can feel the family ties here. These folks have a very special thing going on, and it is working, and apparently, has been for many years. It didn't appear that the building was wheelchair accessible and the bathrooms were up very narrow stairs on the 2nd and 3rd floors, so if you have mobility issues, this may not work for you.

Our waitress was lovely - The food was the most disappointing that we have had in a very long time. There were three of us and we each ordered different things and each of us was very disappointed . Years ago this was a fabulous restaurant. We would not go back again

Google
Beautiful tavern with indoor dining room and outdoor dining, wonderful, fun & friendly staff, and the food is amazing! Menu changes and ingredients change for the dishes but fresh and creative and served hot. The stuffed mushrooms were perfect and burgers are one of the best we have had. So glad we went-loved the name!

Google
Wow, almost 200 yrs old and still thriving. Great service and food is as advertised. Had the Chicken Carlos and Fish and Chips, both were excellent. Tonight was an open mic for entertainment but we couldn't stay to enjoy. If in town, go, but go early. Gets busy fast.

Google
We stopped in from out of town and had a great time. The food was A++, far better than typcial pub fare. Home made breads, deserts, and great meals with many local ingredients. The outdoor dining was awesome, we had a table in their garden with a live band playing nearby. 10/10! the picture is of the "desert menu"

My husband and I took our family for a lovely holiday dinner. The dining room upstairs was so pretty with tapered candles on each table. It is intimate and cozy and the staff were wonderful. We felt so welcomed it was like being invited to a close friends home for an indescribably delicious dinner that was made from scratch all that day from start to finish just for you. Everything from homemade baked popovers rolls and sweet bread to appetizers and main course were superb. The deserts were homemade right there every single one all just gorgeous and delicious. This, is what made our dinner so exceptional more so than anywhere else was the personal attention from everyone the dinner felt like it was made just for us. It was marvelous.

Yelp
They hd outdoor seating in the garden and some live music. There were a lot of bugs outside but they provided bug spray. We got the blueberry and raspberry mocktails and i like the blueberry one. For appetizers, we wanted to get the watermelon salad but they were out of watermelon so we got the tossed salad instead and they added cheese and sunflower seeds. The shrimp crostini was okay i wish it had more on it like a ricotta spread or something instead of just bread and shrimp. We had the burgers as our main which were pretty filling. Service was a little slow on friday night.

Yelp
Our friend lives in Hartland and brought us to Skunk Hollow. If you want local, it doesn't get more local than this. Make reservations if you can, otherwise you may be turned away - it's that popular, folks. We ended up all having burgers and drinks - all of which were prepared to perfection. Other dishes at other tables looked pretty amazing. There were couples enjoying full course dinners from cocktails and then salads and then moving on to main course and wine to folks just coming in for drinks at the bar. All of the above looked like great experiences. Downstairs is truly tavern like with old wood plank floors and a hearth in the middle. Bar is in the back and looks cozy. Upstairs is a bit more elegant with tablecloths and charming decor. The unique bathroom upstairs is a nice touch - and well-kept. The desserts are all made on site by Gretchen. I didn't sample any but it was awfully tempting.

Yelp
Great food in a friendly atmosphere. Our waitress was heroic as we were a party of 12. The food was a bit slow coming as they seemed to be pushing mixed drinks first. It was a prix fixe dinner but when we got our portion of the bill, the charge had doubled. Thanks to several guests having martinis, etc. I don't understand how some restaurants get away with it but as I am handicapped, the only way in and out of the restaurant was through the kitchen. The food was good although it took 2.5 hours to conclude. One hiccup was my wife's filet mignon which was so sinewy she couldn't cut it or eat it. The waitress's response to me was that "it tasted good, didn't it?" Oh well.

Kathleen S.

Yelp
We ate downstairs and there is no hostess desk so we walked over to the bar for our reservation. Ignored for a bit but then the bartender asked someone who was chit chatting with a patron to help us. He asked our name, the phone rang, and he walked upstairs with the reservation book. We were finally seated and our waitress was great from that point forward. My husband had the chicken carlos, he said it was okay, french fries were great. I had the chicken enchilada. Unseasoned chicken and cheese wrapped and baked in a tortilla and then covered with salsa. The only flavoring came from the salsa.

Stan D.

Yelp
This restaurant is in a dilapidated old house. It needs major work. It was very overpriced. They closed the inside and we had to sit outdoors. Food was good but extremely overpriced. Service was very good.

Cindy H.

Yelp
I rarely post reviews but felt that this special restaurant deserves some love. The service was great and our server very pleasant. Started off with the corn and shrimp soup...to die for! I got the fish and chips and the fish was very light and literally still sizzling when it got to the table - also ordered a burger and it was big and juicy. The dessert was the heath bar cake. SOooo good. Haven't been there in a bit but definitely going back soon.

Garcia A.

Yelp
The food was great, but the best thing about Skunk Hollow is the vibe and the absolutely delightful folks that make it happen. The dining area, both upstairs and down, is lovely, but I recommend you sit at the bar and chat with the bartender, Heidi, if possible. And if you're lucky, Deb and Pete will be aglow at the far end of the bar looking like Katharine Hepburn and Jimmy Stewart. I left there feeling like a beloved regular customer. Because of proximity, that's not possible; however, anytime I'm in the area, I will be popping into Skunk Hollow.

Arturo R.

Yelp
This is one of Hartland's gems. Set in a historic tavern in Four Corners, the space offers a cozy vibe on the ground floor and a beautiful garden outside during the warm months. The live music is awesome and the service even better! Oh and don't forget the old school dessert tray that is brought out at the end of the meal.

Kathy E.

Yelp
The Skunk Hollow Tavern was a recommendation from our Airbnb host and it was great! The tavern has been around for many years and it is beautiful. My sister and I sat outside in the lovely garden under a canopy adorned with white twinkle lights! We each ordered a delicious asian noodle salad with fresh, thinly sliced cucumber, cilantro, red onion, bean sprouts and a slightly spicy peanut dressing. And then shared a basket of mixed (homemade) bread that had the most amazing, fresh popovers, crispy french rolls and carrot walnut bread. Our favorite was definitely the piping hot and flaky popovers! And our server was a very friendly, young man that shared some great tips for our visit to Woodstock! I would highly recommend the Skunk Hollow Tavern!

Yelp
In the area for a weekend getaway. Four of us had reservations on a Friday around 7 p in the downstairs pub/bar. We were seated near the entrance as the live band was slowly setting up for the evening in the corner near the door. As we perused the menu, our waitress came over with water and offered any other drinks to which two in our party requested iced tea. Two decided on the soup of the day: chilled asparagus and a friend and I ordered the spinach salad to share. The pub was fairly busy and as the tea was delivered, after one sip and they realized it was iced coffee. It was a while before another server came by with the soup and salad and when our server finally came by, we commented about the coffee and she said the pitchers were exactly the same so they get confused easily. The party having the soup thought it was delicious. Our salads were good, nothing to rave about though. It took a bit for our dinners to arrive and it was worth the wait. Two had the grass fed burger with fries, one has the fish n chips and the other had baked scallops. The burgers were cooked to perfection (medium rare) with lettuce, tomato, white onions and cheddar cheese. When the burgers were assembled, they were huge! The hand cut fries were very good but would loved for them to be more crispy though. The scallops were also cooked perfectly, flavorful and fresh. Served with asparagus. The fish was lightly battered (with Panko?) and fried. Overall, great quality, friendly service, cute rustic atmosphere, reasonable prices. Service a little slow but solid a 4 experience.

Yelp
Meat dishes fine, vegetarian option terrible. That pretty much sums up this review. The staff were lovely (obviously overworked and not enough people, but that is the reality in VT these days). The reason for the two stars is the vegetarian kebob my wife ordered for $23. The rice and beans on the side were unseasoned, the vegetables undercooked, and we could have had a better meal at home for under $5. Sets a new standard for bland. PLEASE inform the cooks that some effort should go into vegetarian cooking. This was awful. The burger was average, and the fish in the fish and chips had a mushy crust. Sad to deliver this, it is a great place but we were severely disappointed in a rare eating out experience.

Yelp
A gem! The Skunk (as it is affectionately known) now offers lovely outdoor seating with lots of shade, trees, and views of their garden. A fun place for kids, delicious pizza, delightful cocktails and fresh, seasonal salads. We drove down from White River as a 4th of July outing and we will definitely be back for the live music on Wednesday and Friday nights. Try the Pink Slipper cocktail with grapefruit, elderflower and raspberry puree - its summer refreshment in a glass (and shaker!) Also, the chocolate mousse (along with all house desserts) was freshly made by Gretchen who has owned the Skunk since 1985. No recipes, no measuring cups, years of love and a memorized cookbook = Fantastic treats. Save room for dessert.

Dave S.

Yelp
What a great place! Worth the trip, even if you have to travel a bit of a distance. The atmosphere is delightful. We ate upstairs in the dining room. But the centuries-old pub downstairs was charming and inviting. And the menu is the same for both locations. We chose upstairs because we could sit by a window and we had the place pretty much to ourselves in the night we were there. The wait staff was outstanding, friendly, and thoughtful. Then we had the food! We had seen the Chicken Carlos mentioned in the other reviews. This house specialty was amazing! My wife had the burger. They use grass-fed beef and it was prepared perfectly. And since the main courses were excellent, we had to try a dessert. It was a difficult choice but the coconut cheesecake with a chocolate chip crust was something we will remember for a long time.

Vicki P.

Yelp
This Tavern was suggested to us from the Windsor Mansion Inn and what an excellent place the Skunk Hollow is. We ate upstairs and it was just such a quaint place with little lights to add to the ambiance. Our waitress was amazing. She was so animated, friendly, and just a burst of positive energy. We loved her. (I am so sorry I forgot your name- from New Orleans!) We took her suggestions on our meals and were not disappointed. The food was very good! We had such a lovely evening here and as much as I wanted to try the homemade desserts we didnt. But, I highly suggest you try this place and you will love it too~

Rachel M.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Delicious, homemade, friendly. Beautiful outdoor area. The burger and ravioli were my favorite. Also loved the stuffed mushrooms. Okay and the wings. And the crab popovers. Oh and mussels. OK - we just loved it all :)

AB P.

Yelp
So, haven't been here in years, it was ok when I did, pre-Covid, fine enough bar, packed with people and service beyond slow! Staff were beyond awesome but not enough of them thus SLIW, that was quite a few years back, people rave about this tavern, so not rating on current!!!!

Chantal S.

Yelp
Surprising find in remote Windsor, VT. Friendly wait staff with great knowledge of the menu and specials. Ambience is very warm, welcoming to casual attire. Very much enjoyed the panzanella salad, chicken czarina, stuffed mushrooms and homemade heath bar dessert with homemade cappuccino ice cream.

D T.

Yelp
Word to the wise, do not go without first making a reservation. There's nothing on their website indicating that a reservation is necessary, but the staff show that they aren't happy, a little passive aggressively, if you arrive like we did - without one - even though the restaurant had just opened and there were no other diners. Our greeter and designated table-assigner was downright rude from the get-go. The atmosphere was nice for an old tavern. We liked the candlesticks on the tables, it added nicely to the atmosphere. The tavern has a downstairs dining area and an upstairs one that unless you read up on the differences beforehand, no one is going to tell you. The website says they have music Wednesday - Friday, we went on a Thursday fully expecting to enjoy music with our dinner but lo and behold, no music on Thursday. Wish they would take a fresh look at their website and update as necessary for interested diners wanting current info. Food was OK, I missed out (my mistake) on trying one of the bartender's signature Margaritas. We look forward to going again when perhaps we can give a better rating.

Chelsea F.

Yelp
Amazing food and cozy atmosphere. We sat downstairs at the bar and talked to come very friendly locals. The service was great too. We will be back!

Philip F.

Yelp
We had a great meal, steak and burger cooked to perfection - sides were limited but the service, ambience food and wine made a memorable evening. We booked our table on a Friday night and we needed to, it's a popular spot even for visitors from Virginia like us! Definitely recommend this establishment if Kure anywhere nearby, well worth the visit!

Beth C.

Yelp
We loved the old building. Very comfortable inside. We were able to get reservations luckily. We had a cajun meatloaf dinner and a pork loin dinner. Staff was very friendly. One way in and out for all 3 floors and we were sitting next to that path. Food took a long time but was good and hot although small portions. 7.50 for one diet coke. We expect prices to be higher these days but thats just an example of costs there. The atmosphere would draw us back.

Kim S.

Yelp
Great food in a great atmosphere!!! Skunk hollow tavern has some great desserts, my favorite is heathbar or cheesecake!! All homemade by Gretchen!!!

Cori G.

Yelp
Love the live music here! This place is so unique and I love the charm to it! Absolutely come here for a beer and to relax!

Christine S.

Yelp
A historic building with a bustling tavern downstairs and a bit more formal space upstairs, same menu in both. Said menu offers both tavern fare like burgers and wings, and a bit more formal things with French names; a long list of special soups and salads was on offer this night too. The window seats down in the tavern room were unfortunately drafty, with the big fire in the middle of the room not doing much for the periphery. Our overworked server was as attentive as could be. Soup and salad off the specials menu were good and well-balanced. Husband liked the beef brochette entrée which came with black bean chili (too cuminy for me) and rice as well as the beef skewers. My burger had a long list of toppings I could choose from. I ordered it well-done and they took me at my word. It was a big piece of burger, which I guess most would consider a good thing; but for me, it just overly dominated the cheese, mushrooms and tasty bun. Fries were OK; husband liked that they were thick cut. A dessert tray is presented after your meal, a nice throwback that I wish more places would do. Cakes we got were OK. In all, I wasn't blown away, and I was chilly, but I appreciate the historic space and the hard work the server and chef and cooks are putting in to ensure everyone has a good time, and we did.

Marilyn C.

Yelp
Great local hangout. After setting up our campsite 20 mins. down the road we headed here on the recommendation of the park ranger. When we first walked in there was a band setting up and the place was packed (it was Friday night). On a search for the restroom I realized there was a whole upstairs! The upstairs is completely different than the downstairs. My bf and I had a very nice dinner - it was getting late so we were the last party to leave the upstairs. They started to blow out the candles and pack up other tables, but we didn't feel rushed. It was a great atmosphere. To start we shared a salad and soup - both were ample portions and were very good. I had a summery cocktail that hit the spot. Main dishes were also good - we both got hamburgers. Overall a great find. I liked the different vibes going on. We could hear and feel the music from our table upstairs and that worked for us.

Yelp
Wow... this place really is one of those "middle of nowhere" gems! I came across Skunk Hollow on my trip back from Montreal through VT. I was looking for gas, and checked my Tom Tom for any food nearby. After seeing this place with 5 Stars (albeit on 4 reviews), I decided, being in the middle of nowhere, why not stop in for something quick before I finished my drive to New York. ... so not expecting anything much better than say McD's, I was absolutely IMPRESSED by this place. The restaurant (main floor), bar (Back of the main floor), literally candle lite dining room (floor 2 + 3), make up each of the levels of this 17th century house. When we got there, a 4 person band was setting up on the main floor. There music and performance were both on the house and amazing! As for the food, it's decent. A lot betters than McD's, but simple and homely. Nothing fancy. Think a decent, fresh cooked burger and fries or fish and chips. They do also have other steaks and fish on the menu, but we went for the burgers ($12 each) and a beer to enjoy the live band playing 10 ft from where we were sitting. I would definitely advise ANYONE driving past here to stop in for a dinner or even lunch if you could. Very much to gem in the middle of nowhere, untainted by the prejudices of big city life!

Annalise E.

Yelp
Start your meal with a cocktail made by Gretchen, a basket of homemade bread that is worth the fee!! Followed by either the homemade soup, or salad. If it's the Thai Pasta salad I highly recommend it! Followed by one of the Skunk's classic Chicken Carlos and top the evening off with a wonderful piece of Heath Bar crunch cake with some homemade ice cream! Never a disappointing meal at the Skunk and they have wonderful outdoor seating right now during this whole COVID situation!

Heather D.

Yelp
Our stop here was a completely serendipitous accident. We were driving through the Vermont country side in the dark, when we heard the most beautiful jazz coming out of this little tavern that looked like it should only exist in a story book. We were so lucky to find first Friday jazz night. Wonderful experience, great gin & tonics and nice people.

Domenico M.

Yelp
Tried this place based on Yelp reviews and I'm glad we did, Food and service was great. Had the Mushroom Dill soup and Carlos chicken plate. Amazing!!!! Will definitely be back again when passing thru. Thank you!!

Minsu K.

Yelp
Food was pretty good. They accommodate our 3 children and the service was very good. I would come here again when we visit Vermont.

Kelly L.

Yelp
Back in the early 80's my 2nd husband and i visited a Skunk Hollow Tavern. It was small.quaint,,It had very good pizza cooked in a hearth and a restaurant upstairs and pub downstairs, they played darts in the pub. We partied with the then owners and I learned about putting apple leaves in salad. I remember it being a wonderful time and I felt so in my element. Is this the same tavern?

Mitch S.

Yelp
I learned of Skunk Hollow Tavern from Yelp as I planned my vacation on a little getaway with my wife. From all of the 5 star reviews I read, I had pretty high expectations and expected everything on the menu to be good. We decided to split and order of fish and chips and a ribeye steak that sounded awesome and at $27 dollars I expected it to be really good. The fish and chips were delicious but I sent the over priced steak back. I ordered it medium, but it tasted like a wet raw piece of cheap ribeye slathered in corn and chili. I was given a butter knife to try and cut this ligament filled ribeye apart. All of the things I love about ribeye were not present and I was really sad. It was hard to cut, and stringy pieces of ligament were like cutting wires for my butter knife. It had a few completely bland chunks of boiled potato and some sad looking pieces of overcooked broccolini tossed next to them like an afterthought. What a sad dish. I loved the at home family feel of the restaurant but I was really surprised to be charged 5 bucks for a bowl of bread. She asked "would you like to start off with some bread?". At 99% of restaurants its how they ask if you would like to eat some free bread while you wait for food. At the end of the night, all I had paid for was a beer for myself, and my wife had a beer, fish and chips plus we ordered a little desert to go. With tip it was just shy of $50 bucks. Normally we would spend around this much at a restaurant where we both ate delicious entrees and paid for both. If you go there, be prepared to be gouged on beer prices. It was over 4 dollars for a bottle of beer. Stay away from the over priced entrees and stick with simple things like burgers or fish and chips. If they ask you for bread and you don't really want bread, say no because it isn't free (even though it is delicious).

Jill M.

Yelp
A little white house in the middle of the woods, this is the spot to be for locals, and the place we bring every single visitor. I've easily been here 30 times. Downstairs is like an old English pub with live music on Wednesdays, and upstairs is much quieter: candles, table clothes and no electric light. Not only a great place to run into the neighbors, but it's consistently delicious, fresh, Vermont-y food. My dad's favorite is the Chicken Carlos (the chef's specialty: spicy fried chicken), but I try everything, including the amazing daily soups (warm butternut squash is my favorite) and salads (always local veggies and cheeses), the chicken enchilada, the steak, and all sorts of pasta dishes. At first we were upset that you pay for the bread, but after tasting each of the three types of bread in one of their baskets, the in-house baker's presence is clearly invaluable. The bread basket is a MUST. And the dessert tray is always hard to resist, with a different homemade ice cream every night. Try the night's ice cream with some warmed-up Heath Bar Crunch cake. MMmmmmm!!

Becky D.

Yelp
Such a fun experience. Unique and homey atmosphere and really food, fresh food and drink. A bit pricey but worth it for the food and atmosphere. Desserts are amazing--you get to see them on a tray before ordering, the amoretto chocolate mousse was to die for!!!

David L.

Yelp
This venue is a REAL Gastropub, totally unfussy and fine dining it is not! It does offer good solid food at a reasonable price with a bloody good pint of ale. Hailing from the UK I know a good pub or three, so I am always delighted when I visit here that the atmosphere is genuine. Candle lit at night, their bread basket is amazingly fresh and homemade and on this visit the pear...yes pear soup was historic! Out waitress could not have been more jolly and certainly had a good sense of humour. If you like noise with your food then dine downstairs (well it was open mike night) or for a little more privacy ask to sit upstairs. The daily specials are always creative so do ask....

George G.

Yelp
Skunk Hollow Tavern is definitely the place to experience a local Vermont hangout. Stopped by to have some beers and dinner with a colleague. Ordered a pint of Trout River and picked the Chicken Carlos for an entree. I was not really impressed with the Chicken Carlos as it was simply deep fried chicken and was not very spicy. However, the atmosphere was phenomenal. Everyone here knows each other. Right after dinner time, a live band set up and started playing. Slowly tables were moved to the side, and then some of them outside, as all of the locals started dancing. I enjoyed a few more beers and the music/dancing.

Marta D.

Yelp
Great food, menu and service. Ate upstairs. A band was playing downstairs which made it a little noisy and tight quarters getting in and out.

Sally H.

Yelp
We love the Skunk! Always a great meal and a nice place to catch up with old friends. If you go on Wednesday you can catch some local talent at open mic. A unique historic pub.

Stephen N.

Yelp
This is like a home to my family, great wait staff and chefs, if you are not impressed by the cozy atmosphere and the impeccably friendly wait staff then you will definitely be impressed with the food. The Hollow Burger is always a favorite along with the Carlos Chicken.

Craig S.

Yelp
Great place. I was told by a local that it was a definite on Wednesday evenings. It's open mic and you will never know who you might see get up and sing. I think there were about 5 different people that performed. Get a burger with mozzarella cheese. It's juicy and reminds you of a classic. Atmosphere tops it off.

Michele M.

Yelp
The dining room upstairs is very cozy and romantic. The dim lighting and candles on the tables set the tone for a relaxing evening. The food was delicious. Try the stuffed mushrooms and the freshly made fettuccine pasta in a tomato vodka sauce! Excellent... The martinis and service were perfect as well.. Highly recommend this little gem.

Nicole D.

Yelp
There were so many things about place that I loved! The atmosphere was wonderful, a bit casual but still intimate on the 1st floor. More formal and still very intimate on the 2nd floor, and a very cozy feeling overall. My girlfriends and I went all out and tried many dishes during our dining adventure. We had the mussels and stuffed mushrooms to start. Both were great. We also ordered a bread basket to soak up all of the wonderful mussel juices, and the bread was an awesome variety and delicious. I had a dirty vodka martini to start and asked for extra dirty, but I really didn't care for it. It tasted like really strong vodka and I like my martinis to taste like I'm sipping olive juice from the jar. I sent it back and asked for more dirt but it came back nearly the same. So it goes, I grinned and beared it. Our entrees were next. We shared the cajun meatloaf - okay, tasted like something I could easily whip up at home. The porkchops, tough and raw in the middle, and the chicken leaves balinese - amazing! The entrees are a little pricey and the quality varied dish to dish, so that was a bit of a bummer. Then came desserts. Wow!!! Carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, a heath bar brownie and chocolate cake with raspberries, all out of this world! The table next to us were regulars and talked us into trying the drink special named after them, the ploufftetini, also amazing, and perfect sweetness with our deserts. Overall we were very pleased with the food, the atmosphere was lovely, our waitress was attentive and I would definitely go back the next time I'm in the area. Cheers!

Ira H.

Yelp
I was in VT for a 50 mile mtn. bike race at Ascutney with a bunch of college friends. We lucked into finding this place. The building is historic. It looks like it's been a local tavern for 200 years. We sat upstairs in the dining room which is nicely done. Everything we had for dinner was great. Waitresses were very friendly. The patron Margarita was perfect. After dinner, we went downstairs to the small tavern. We had some beers and listened to an awesome band. I will return next time I'm in the area.

Bonnie M.

Yelp
The skunk was amazing! Old tavern building from the 1800's nicely decorated with fresh local flowers on each of the tables. Options to sit upstairs for a more formal setting or downstairs which was more rustic. Same menu regardless of where you sit. Chicken Carlos was a staple dish here and it was amazing! Mussels and Vermont grass-fed burger were mouth watering dishes too! Waitress brought the desserts on a tray for my friends and I to pick from! We loved the options we picked (chocolate mousse, fruit cobbler, and raspberry ice cream).Service was a bit slow but the food made up for it!

David D.

Yelp
The service and the food were both outstanding. We were a large group, 27 people, but the staff took it all in stride and the service was impeccable. Everything we ate was excellent but the Monkfish was truly outstanding. Well worth the trip.

Michelle G.

Yelp
Heading home to CT and we just picked a place off Yelp. Waiter was wonderful. Meal so so, my husbands burger was dry, my pork tenderloin was not worth the $$ and the French fries were just bad. I would say the best thing was the waiter, watermelon salad and bread basket.

Monica G.

Yelp
If you check my profile, you'll see I rarely review restaurants, but Skunk Hollow Tavern is taking me out of hibernation! Everyone was extremely friendly, especially Gretchen who made phenomenal drinks and treated us like regulars even though it was our first time there. The deviled crab and asparagus cannelloni was excellent, tempered nicely by the cool cucumber salad that we ordered with it. Dinner was the organic, local beef burger and Chicken Carlos - both wonderful. If I were into desserts, there were plenty of tempting offerings, but I can't report on any of them. I really can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Cannot beat the atmosphere. Food is very good. The bread should be illegal. Great experience every visit. We always eat downstairs with its pub feel. The upstairs looks nice but the downstairs feels cozy.

Yelp
If your on your way anywhere near this place, stop in and check it out. Skunk Hollow has been one of my husband and I's favorite places to go. Not only is the food really good, but the atmosphere is so cute and cozy. The restaurant itself is an old farmhouse style, and upstairs is lit by candle light. We even went there for an anniversary dinner, to which the staff helped me by setting up our table with our wedding candle and champagne flutes ahead of time for a nice surprise. And a note to chef Carlos: Please feel free to move to Derry, NH. I'm just saying..........please.........???
