Google
I had the tataki Tuna as my appetizer, it taste so fresh and not fishy at all. My favorite menu is the house salad with the ginger dressing and the Tokyo drift roll. The atmosphere was really good feels like you can chilling while you eating. The staff was so friendly which is nice. Will be back here soon!!

Google
The spring rolls are good but wish there were more maybe 4 per appetizer instead of 3. Onion soup good, miso soup standard so good, salad with ginger dressing good, hibachi is okay the chicken was a bit dry, the veggies were good and rice good as well. I enjoyed it overall and would come back. The service was good as well everyone friendly and i think the prices are good as well. Its 17 and change for hibachi but comes with soup and salad as well so i think it was worth it.

Google
Great sushi place! Very tasty. The service was great! We requested recommendations from the waitress and it didn't let down! Recommended. Self note of out selection: Appetizer-3D tartar Fried sushi: milliamum(left)/godzilla(right) Sushi: tokyo drift/super crush/salmon lover (bot2top) Derserrt: mango sherbert

Google
First time here and the sushi was great. The rock n roll is was my favorite. It had a good amount of fish and the cucumber wrap was refreshing. Plus the restaurant is pet friendly. My pup and I was able to sit on the patio to enjoyed the beautiful weather.

Google
Has been fresh every time our family has visited. It's definitely not your average Japanese restaurant. The chili flavored fries are delicious and the sushi selections meets most of my expectations. One thing that is my personal preference: I don't like that they took my glass to a back room somewhere to refill my water. I prefer that they bring a carafe and fill my water with the same water they're giving everyone else. That's being petty, maybe, but the meals are good so that's the only thing I could find to complain about. Overall, great place to meet up with friends and family.

Google
We love Sky and visit almost once a week, especially ever since new management took over in July. The staff is always so warm and welcoming and our food is always perfect. The owners also always come around to say hello and treat us like family. The sushi chefs put so much thought and energy into our meal each time. Would definitely recommend!

Google
Clean restaurant. Friendly staff. Only reason they didn't get 5 stars - they didn't have a Hawaiian roll on the menu that I was craving. Everything we ordered was awesome. Also had fried cheesecake which was great.

Google
The service was excellent. The manager was so friendly. The sushi was fantastic. I tried the Rocky mountain roll with no crunchy and they carry gluten free soy sauce. My 7 year old ordered hibachi and loved it but also ended up eating his own little tuna roll.

Yelp
This used to be an amazing place. This was the first place I took a date who is now my wife. We remember it being so nice and the food really good. Now it is a shell of its former glory. It's changed management so many times and neither seem to care to bring back the quality or service that once existed. Very sad.

Yelp
Soooo, I've tried Sky twice under the new management. My first review of the O.G. Sky was 5/5. It was our local spot, amazing food, and we would regularly go once a month. Unfortunately....not anymore. Tried it first when they changed hands and didn't care for it but didn't write anything just in case they were new at working things out. This time, almost a year later, No difference. First thing, when you walk in, it doesn't have that same nice restaurant feeling. I saw their cleaning station occupy a table towards the back and it reminded me of a lower quality Chinese restaurant. My spider sense told me to leave but we stayed. We ordered the spicy edamame. It had a nice taste to it, but weak. Like it could've had more of the sauce/seasoning on there. It just wasn't enough to wow us. We all ordered salads, entrees. The funny part....our sushi order came out before the salads did, that was a first. Which made like three items come out all at once to eat. I hate that. Separate them Salad was fine, we didn't care for the crunchy noodles on top. Got one wrong but fine. My sushi, the play boy roll, was ok. They lit the plate and just walked away, I'm fine with that bc I had a small stint waiting tables at a sushi restaurant back in the day but I do think that is a safety hazard for others. It had too much of the mayo sauce or yum yum sauce on it. Also almost every sushi item has eel sauce here. Like a lot of them did so I guess they love that. The chicken hibachi my daughter ordered was bland. It didn't have the hibachi taste at all. The rice really needed some seasoning. It also came with the yum yum sauce and not the traditional ginger and mustard dipping sauces. The best entree was the jalapeño fried rice with chicken. That was actually good. It had probably one or 2 full jalapeños in there. What bothered me was the $2 up charge for the spicy to be added to the edamame. Like really? The whole jar of sauce is prob $5-10. Then even the jalapeño fried rice, up charge to add chicken. The OG Sky had the best fried rice in LR and it came with chicken, always. If anyone thinks I'm being cheap on the price I can promise you I'm not. We go out every weekend and money isn't an issue. Compared to other restaurants they don't up charge for spicy. I do think $6 for a small salad is a lot too but that's not that big of a deal. It wasn't that busy on a Thursday night. Like 6 tables were full up. I hate to give this 2 stars. It's really worth one but I didn't want to be mean. Sadly won't be back again. I think Kemuri will have our dedication from now on.

Erin M.

Yelp
Oh no! They have changed ownership, and since then, I really feel like the quality and service have gone down. They also removed several favorite items from the menu such as the delicious lava shrimp.

Samantha C.

Yelp
I am so used to being in front of a grill watching my food being cooked it felt weird. However the food had a unique taste to it unlike your regular Japanese steak house and the yum yum sauce had a spice to it. The rice was kind of soft and didn't really taste like fried rice. I don't think I will go back there again and just stick to my regular Japanese steak house. The staff was very friendly.

Scott C.

Yelp
Lost opportunity indeed. Seat covers on booze in horrible shape. Inside of restaurant decor dark and remains the same as it was before. Ginger dressing entirely too sweet and served in a small cup with several pieces of lettuce and a tablespoon of honey ginger dressing thrown on top. Hibachi meals came out one at a time instead of cooking both at one time for a party of two. Heavily salted and enormous amounts of cooking oil and butter used in preparation of otherwise healthy contents. Did not have tofu. Nasty public restrooms so you can imagine what it's like in non-public areas? Should sign up for restaurant impossible.

Yelp
As of July 2022 Sky has changed owners/management. I find the new version lacking. I do not enjoy writing negative reviews, but truth is - the quality is subpar to the previous iteration. There is no longer a menu, which some of those items will be sorely missed. This Sky version offers sushi and hibachi - which I like both, so while disappointed in losing the menu items, I don't want to knock them for changing the business in their offerings. I approached with an open mind to check out the new owner & their menu. The sushi, looked okay but just wasn't my cup of tea. We ordered two fairly simple items of sushi - none of the more elaborate offerings. The wasabi had no congestion clearing bite, but was sweet instead. The spicy tuna, was spicy enough but it was covered in a spicy-mayo sauce. I am semi-okay with this, not my personal preference, but just don't care for a huge dollop of it on the sushi. Personal side note: pickled ginger is the kind with the dye in it. I know not everyone cares one way or the other, just an observation. The hibachi was even more lackluster. Shrimp was overcooked. The sauces were....uh....well one of them tasted like ketchup and mayo. Not like anything I expect in a Japanese restaurant. The amount of sodium in both the hibachi and the Miso soup (another disappointment) was pretty intense. Probably MSG more than salt, to be honest. The ginger salad was fine - no issues there. We asked for the steamed rice. Ours was crispy & dried out. Not that moist, sticky rice (for those that like that). If we'd gotten the fried rice - I am sure the sodium intake would have been off the charts. I work very close to here and went to Sky pretty routinely. I will miss their awesome salmon salad - so very unique. I had hoped that at least the other options at the new version would be doable as I eat sushi almost every day for lunch but I think most die hard fans of Sky will not be back. I am saddened for losing a favorite lunch spot. I'd say this is apparently geared towards clientele who don't like Japanese for it's clean food but prefer salt & mayo on everything. Fortunately, there are better options around town though the first Sky will be missed.

Yelp
Food quality was ok but that's about it Service was terrible. Food and drink orders missed completely and we never saw our server, had to keep flagging down other staff. The manager didn't so much as offer an apology. Soft drinks are $3 and no free refills. My $6 ginger salad was not enough to fill up a hamsters belly much less a person. Won't be returning.

Sofie M.

Yelp
Food was good and quality, however we were over charged for sashimi. We ordered a 2 pc of octopus and salmon and they gave us a 6 pc. We couldn't flag down the waitress for the issue and when it was brought to her attention she said both the two pc and six pc were 13.50... that's not what the menu said. I'm sure the girl had no control over it and it's just what the manager said but still not right.

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Management and menu changes have not made my experience as wonderful as before. One my favorite items was the eggplant appetizer. It was soooo yummy!

DR R.

Yelp
The food was mediocre at best. Ordered 4 carbonated waters (which were all from the fountain not a bottle!) and the owner told our waitress to charge me for each one! What a joke. Will never be back.

Kim J.

Yelp
Food is decent, service is NOT!! Service has gone downhill. In the past, I have ordered take-out from here before and didn't have issues until recently. I ate here a few months ago with my family for a celebration. Waitress wasn't too friendly but not rude either. Took FOREVER for the sushi to come out. Recently, I decided to place a take out order. When I entered the restaurant, an older lady came from behind the bar and looked bothered that I came in to order. I placed my order, paid and tipped. She informed me that it would be 30 mins. for sushi! They literally just opened and nobody was in there but me but ok. I asked could I have some spicy Mayo. She informed me that I could not have any UNLESS I paid for it. I inquired "I can't have just one?" She said they don't provide complimentary condiments unless one pays. Now if I were dining in, she wouldn't be charging me! Once my food was ready she tossed it to me and said "enjoy your food" in a snarky tone and walked off. Unfortunately, I will have to go elsewhere for sushi now. Hate to but service just isn't what it needs to be.

Yelp
I am visiting from Raleigh and my brother invited me to Sky Modern Japanese Food. I had been there before before I moved to NC. So, it was good to see that it was still opened + thriving! When I first arrived I noticed the parking lot. The parking lot was very clean and they restaurant is inside of a shopping center there is plenty of spaces to park. I ended up parking directly in front of the main entrance. When I first came in there was no one there to great me but that was okay because I was just there to essentially met my brother. They were sitting outside. The restaurant is dark but you can see everything. My brother had ordered a rice dish and he added shrimp because it already comes with chicken. I tried his food and it was absolutely delicious. I loved it. The server was really nice he seemed kind of busy but nice, he brought me a glass of water. Sky is a good restaurant. I would go back.

Blake R.

Yelp
So popped in for a quick lunch at a sushi place that I have never been to. So I ordered the pleasant ridge roll and the omega 3 roll. It took about 20 mins to order and receive the sushi rolls but I wasn't in a hurry. Both rolls looked amazing. Pleasant ridge roll is lightly fried. Didn't realize that! But it was really good with the spicy mayo. The omega 3 had seared salmon that tasted fresh, with just a hint of smokiness. Both were very good and I will definitely be back here again.

Vanessa M.

Yelp
This was the first Sushi location I have visited since moving from Las Vegas. I was highly disappointed to see that the sushi establishments here do not offer All You Can Eat sushi. It's so common to find in Vegas but maybe business is slower in this town. We were greeted promptly and the staff seemed nice. I don't believe they were as attentive as they could have been. I sat with my water empty for a bit before they offered to refill it. I was very fond of their Rainbow roll though. It was quite delicious and was a good size.

Erica P.

Yelp
Me and my girls took my sister there for her 42nd birthday we had a wonderful dinner the way you in-service was a plus she was so friendly and helpful everything was so fresh and everything was super delicious we will be back very soon I really love them for lunch it was our first time doing dinner there keep up the good work

Shelbie E.

Yelp
We were in Little Rock visiting for the weekend. My family was in the mood for Hibachi, and I found Sky Modern Japanese here on Yelp. I'm so glad I did! We came in about an hour before closing time - a big family of 10. That didn't bother the waitress one bit. She was great! The food was great, too. Most of our table ordered Hibachi, and a few of us had the pork ramen. The ramen was delicious and very filling! If we are ever in Little Rock again and in the mood for Japanese, this will be our first choice!

Richard C.

Yelp
Favorite restaurant just bit the dust! Amazingly bad fish. I just loved this place and the new ownership is dishing out old fish. Sad man. We threw it out. It takes a whole whole lot for me to post anything. Wow

Meli H.

Yelp
Things were a hit, they also were kind enough to accommodate (per my sister's request as being an advocate for myself to be reseated at a booth away from others--it was at the end of dinner shift I assure you we were not taking up a spot for a large party). The staff was professional; and the wore masks properly. The food was a bit; if anyone is allergic to fish or seafood, their clear broth soup does have fish in it, which is not explained on the menu (this will always dock a star from me, and her as she is a professional chef, if there is an intolerance or allergy not addressed in the description in the menu). However, taking her view on the place as well as mine, this is a great spot. Pictures include her meals as well as mine.

Elizabeth H.

Yelp
New management and entirely different menu. Not a single sushi roll that made me want to go to Sky over any other basic sushi place is on the menu anymore. As someone who was a regular customer -- this is a completely different restaurant with the same name, but it is not the Sky Japanese you are expecting. I ordered two of the most basic rolls on the menu -- a California roll and a Philadelphia roll. My rolls were oddly warm & completely fell apart to the touch. Hibachi filet was charred and flavorless. Fried rice was the only thing I could even stand to eat, given I drowned it in sauce.

Dan S.

Yelp
Changed Management. Menu different. Food pretty horrible. Service not good. Used to be my favorite restaurant. very disappointed.

Paige T.

Yelp
Had lunch today for the first time since new menu and management. Many changes that weren't good. Sweet waiter but food wasn't as good. Salad dressing was gross and didn't include ginger and wasabi in my takeout. Sad it's not the same

Jon H.

Yelp
Hibachi was really 'ho-hum'. Service was slow and the fried rice was bland. The rare filet was mid well, but it was decent tasting. The gyozas were really bad- tasted like they were fried in water. Overall, not a good experience.

J P.

Yelp
Walked in with high expectations and walked out very disappointed. The best thing we ordered was the filet. The fried rice wasn't very good at all, unless it was saturated with soy sauce. The vegetables weren't very good either. The service was less spectacular as well. We ordered the dinner for two so we asked for the steak to be cooked two different temperatures. The waitress seemed to be confused. I asked again. Once again, she was confused so we settled for both to be cooked the same temperature. Sadly, we won't return based on this visit. There are other options available to us that are much more to our liking.

Ray D.

Yelp
Tasty Gluten Free Review +gluten free soy sauce So we've tried the other Sushi places in town first because their menu contains +gf notations and certain items, avoided here for awhile until I found out they carry gluten-free soy sauce. The service was excellent, the appetizers were tasty (edamame was cold) but I don't knock off for that, and the miso soup was very tasty and warm. The interior is super cool, cloud lights, a silver tree, pretty awesome place can't believe waited so long to try this spot. Been to a few other sushi spots in town and this one by far had the best sushi, it was fresh, tasted great and was assembled like a pro. The Shrimp Ebi did have wasabi in it which I didn't know and it didn't say that so I avoided it eek! However I will be back soon to dive into some more sushi! Also great prices.

Artez I.

Yelp
This places literally on fire! Quality food & venue. Definitely a must if you appreciate Japanese dishes !!!!!!!!!

Renada B.

Yelp
Just left without ordering because they now precook their fried rice and won't let you make any modifications. Example, I have an egg allergy and have always ordered my fried rice without egg with no issues. Today our server informed me that the rice is precooked (we were watching the cook make these giant bowls and wondered why he was doing that) and instead of asking to make a small batch for me allowed us to just tell her we'd go somewhere else. I definitely was not going to argue I'd rather just leave. Apparently they didn't need our business so we won't be back.

Nina H.

Yelp
Nice, clean and professional restaurant but over priced. The sushi looks good but they use imitation crab meat instead of fresh real one. The Duck Breast with Veggies dish need to be called Veggies with Duck Breast instead bc the breast is way too small compared to veggies. Note that it also come with a bowl of rice and a haft of sweet potatoes. I do not need to fill myself up with so much of carbohydrates. And get what? It is $21. NEVER EVER order this dish because of its fancy name. If you really have to go there, get the sushi with real lobster shredded on top of it.

Erin T.

Yelp
My husband and I have not had sushi from a restaurant in over a year due to COVID. I had a craving and was hoping I could find a place that is worth going back to since I was only wanting to get take out and not dine in. We live in Roland, so there are not any close options. I called Sky Modern Japanese while I was driving on my way home from midtown LR. The worker who answered the phone was very helpful and recommended a couple of popular specialty rolls. I also ordered a couple of miso soups and ginger side salads. The order came just under $40. Everything was wonderful! The two rolls that were suggested were the omega 3 roll & the cherry blossom roll. Both were excellent. We will definitely be going back and we're looking forward to trying some new rolls next time.

Gabriel F.

Yelp
Tried them for the first time and definitely give them a two thumbs up. The service was great in the atmosphere was awesome and of course the food was delicious.

Annie B.

Yelp
Best restaurant in LR! The sushi & service is great! Everything is so clean and calm! Always a great choice!

Tara S.

Yelp
Ok...I've been on this huge sushi kick the last month or so. This was the first time that I have been here and definitely won't be my last visit!! Starting off with the wine list they have a really great one with reasonable prices. We grabbed two different rolls for appetizers. My husband got the Cherryblossom the ingredients on that were raw salmon, tuna and avocado. I got the Mardi Gras roll with fried crawfish with a blend of crab salad on top. Both were top notch and I highly recommend it to anybody who likes sushi. My husband's main entrée was the diver scallops over risotto with mushrooms and spinach. I think he almost licked the plate when he was done. The sushi roll filled me up so all I had was the clear soup a.k.a. onion soup. Delicious!! I highly recommend this to anyone who likes Japanese food. The ambience and the design of the restaurant really sets the mood for a great meal!

BeiBei D.

Yelp
Wanted to get some sushi after returning home but can't say this place was any different then a mediocre sushi restaurant unfortunately. I received the lunch combo with spicy tuna and a California roll and really there's nothing special. It came with two pieces of a specialty rolls that were much longer so I assume if you just order a specialty role you'll get a lot of sushi as well so I would recommend going with the specialty role instead of getting the condo is you might get better tasting sushi that way. We also tried the spicy tofu dish as well as a spicy chicken dishWhich were very high on the spice but it was more of a Thai chili spice and not really a Japanese spice. I would recommend subbing in a seaweed salad instead of the regular salad that comes with a entrée however I would not recommend squeezing lemon on the seaweed salad as it alters the taste and not in a good way. I would recommend this place for the specialty rolls and the seaweed salad without lemon!

Andrea J.

Yelp
I have not been disappointed either time I've visited, and today was no different. I've been sick, so I had a taste for Ramen. They only have one kind, but it was THE BEST RAMEN I'VE EVER HAD. Granted I've only been to one "Ramen" restaurant and can't really say I'm a connoisseur for Japanese food, but I am indeed a foodie and my taste buds were extremely delighted! Not to mention the place is always nice and clean. I will definitely return very soon!

Erin J.

Yelp
I just think Sky is ok, not great but I would eat there again. They have a hibachi grill but only one but you can order from you table. I got the hibachi steak and was good not great. The steak was kind of tuff. My daughter got the chicken and said it was fine. She loves hibachi chicken and didn't really eat a lot, she said it was salty. The fried rice at other places is my favorite, I did not like theirs at all. My daughter would not even touch it. I have been there once before and we thought it was really good so maybe it was a off day.

Sandi B.

Yelp
Wow! This place was so good. We shared a lot of different rolls. They were all so good. We had salmon sashimi that melted in our mouths. The drinks were great! Service was amazing! The rainbow roll was so good !!!!

Krystina N.

Yelp
I will NEVER come here again. We attempted to order Togo on the phone but nothing was repeated back correctly so we went in to place the order. I ordered up front, paid, and waited in the car. When we went back in, the woman at the front yelled at us claiming we didn't place an order. She said she's never seen us before, has been at the front the entire time, and was telling us to leave. Again we had PAID and she took our order! We went back and forth until she finally gave us our food. I asked for a receipt because things seemed off, and I saw she charged us for $19.99 for the kids meal, which was $11.99. I had to get a refund for that. We got home, and several items were missing so we had to go back. When we went back, it was another 5 minute argument begging to get the items that were missing. Are you kidding??? And on top of it we tipped her well! I have never experienced such horrible customer service before and will not be back. $80 to go meal to be yelled at, berated, and treated like trash.

Hunter N.

Yelp
Server kept complaining about her having to be at work, then messed up our WHOLE order and charged us for things more expensive than we ordered and made us PAY FOR IT because we were in the wrong. Maybe tell your servers to do better? She kept arguing with us saying she wasn't wrong. Like, we know what we ordered.

C W.

Yelp
Such a great Place! Our go to place for a nice relaxing date night. Delicious Sushi and awesome Hibachi.

Laura J.

Yelp
Best friend rice I've ever had. Hibachi and sushi were excellent! Service was even better. Highly recommend.

Brooke W.

Yelp
I don't know how this place doesn't have 5 stars?! It's hands down the best sushi in Arkansas. I was shocked that a landlocked state could have such fresh fish. The owners and staff are so nice and and everything came out quickly. The Rocky Mountain roll and the baked scallops roll was delicious! They have great lunch specials too. I've had just about everything on the menu at this point and I have yet to find something I don't like. So so good! Do yourself a favor and give them a try, you won't be disappointed

Tammy L.

Yelp
I had delicious vegetable Tempura. However their "calamari/spinach salad" contained, a small hand full of dried, burned Calamari, spinach was wet, overall terrible salad.. I will stick with Mt. Fuji!

Clara S.

Yelp
Terrible service for pick up. Absolutely horrible. Rude over the phone and person. Waited for 40 extra minutes, hysterically slow; I don't have much else to say but apparently I have to type more in order to post this. clara out.

Todd S.

Yelp
This is hands down the best sushi place in town. We dine here at least once a month. The Mardi Gras roll and the Baked Scallop roll are must tries. They are called Sky Modern Japanese because they do more than sushi. Their dinner dishes are amazing. The Diver Scallops with mushroom risotto is amazing as well as the Sea Bass. The hibachi grill chefs are perfectionists as well, but if you want a "show" you're in the wrong place. They cook serious food. The service is ALWAYS great and the owners are beautiful people that take the time to get to know their regular customers. Do not miss out on this fantastic place.

Anthony S.

Yelp
Horrible service, I called an order in for lunch and they told me 25 minutes. When I showed up they didn't even start my order and it took twice the amount of time. The food is good here but service is just horrible.

Rob M.

Yelp
Good, not great, Japanese, in a market that is demonstrably lacking good venues for that cuisine. Away from the coasts, Japanese is always a pricey meal, and this is no exception. I don't mark them off for that, but I guess having lived most of my life in California, this isn't quite up to the standards of even some of the run-of-the-mill Japanese there.

Elaine H.

Yelp
A go-to for great, fresh sushi and hibachi style foods in Little Rock! I also appreciate the vegetarian options. We love this place and eat here once or twice a month. The quality and service are consistently great.

Dean P.

Yelp
My first visit to Sky was in February when I visited family in Little Rock. The dining experience was wonderful. A very contemporary decor; it was fun watching the chefs do the sushi and hibachi meals. Service was great and the quality of the food was better than I had expected. Two in our party had a spicy chicken dish, which I got to taste. It was sweet and spicy, excellent. One had a sushi dish with no raw ingredients, also tasty and pleasant. And I chose the hibachi chicken...a great choice, with the hibachi flavor, served with great vegetables and choice of rice. The hibachi meals also come with 3 nice-sized shrimp cooked hibachi-style. We shared a warm shrimp appetizer. And the miso soup was top-notch, reminding me of that I had in Busan, South Korea. It was a great evening and I look forward to eating there again when I'm in Arkansas again!

Cassidy B.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite sushi places in Little Rock. I have a tendency to go back here because of the delicious options that they have on their menu. The atmosphere is semi-casual and not too fancy and people have always been very nice. One of my favorite things is the vegetables that accompany backspace backspace the hibachi dinner. They are fabulous!!! Service is relatively quick for the occasion, but once I went in a group of 7-8 and we had to wait a while for our meals. Overall this is by far my go-to Little Rock sushi!!! I love trying different kinds and there are so so many!

Alex H.

Yelp
Worst Japanese food I have had. The rice and soup tasted old couldn't even eat it. Told them about it and they did nothing. Who ever gave it five stars was drunk on sake or ate the soup. The sauce they provide was horrible. Tasted like pure vinegar. I will not be going back.
