This was our 2nd time to enjoy the Sunset Serenade train ride. It’s so enjoyable and fun! What more can you ask for: having drinks, good live music, and a stunning leisurely view of the sun setting in the mountains!!! Shout out to Edgar Wonder (musician) who did not disappoint entertaining us along the way!!! Oh and the staff take very good care of you as well! Highly recommend doing this while in Santa Fe!

We had a terrific evening on the sunset serenade ride. BEAUTIFUL SUNSET!! Of course that’s not guaranteed but we were lucky. TBH we stayed outside on the flatbed car almost the whole time. There was a guy playing guitar and singing inside, he was good but the real show was the landscape. It’s not cheap!! I think we paid $137 per person including taxes and “fees” (are fees really necessary at these prices?). Great way to spend an evening in Santa Fe.

This was such an amazing thing to do in Santa Fe. The train we rode in was from 1923 and we learned so much historical facts from Jeff one of the employees on board. The music in each train car was different and when booking make sure to plan accordingly. Country music, cabaret jazz etc…. The open air platform was a must to get the most amazing pictures.

Great diversion trip. Spent a nice 3 hr train ride viewing the Sante Fe countryside out to the turnaround to enjoy a quaint tribal dance showing by two young performers. Along the way out and back we enjoyed a guitarists/ singer entertaining us with train songs and other requested tunes. Had a lot of fun. Nice bar service and comfortable seating. Enjoyed the out side cars to catch the sight with a little fresh air and sunshine. Nice experience and a great add to our Sante Fe visit. The staff were all very hospitable and friendly.

We had some friends come visit from Iowa and riding the SkyRail was on the top of our list! We rode the Sunset Serenade train and it was absolutely amazing! So beautiful to ride out into the New Mexico landscape and get to watch the setting sun! The music in both cars was phenomenal, always is, and the ride was great for all ages! Would definitely recommend! So fun!

I’ve experienced many of these trains events and every single one is totally worth it. Bring the family, bring your team from work, bring you friends visiting town. Bring em all! Such a lovely and fun experience in Santa Fe. Photos from the sunset serenade.

Highly Recommend! We took the afternoon Margarita Rail trip. The price includes one margarita per ticket. The train itself is beautiful. A piece of art on the inside and out. Our train car had a three piece band playing great rock - everyone was singing! While these included margaritas were a bit sweet, they weren't terrible. I'd recommend the one with lavender (can't remember the name).

I loved every minute of this. I was visiting Albuquerque and saw this option. Me and my children jumped at the opportunity to go to Santa Fe. I love that my son rode free b/c he is military and my daughter got a student discount. We had such an amazing ride. The scenery was absolutely beautiful.

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed the train. We went on the margarita train. What we liked: The old historic train, the live musician and cocktails. All top notch and made this a great experience! (Oh yeah, if it matters there were no kids on the margarita rail!) What could be better: Service was not great. We preordered food and the waiters went around asking for tickets and completely skipped us. We had to wave someone down after we realized they were not coming back. Not a huge deal but then it happened again and again with drink service. Would have chalked it up to not enough servers but I watched the crowd and plenty of others had food and drinks flowing without a fuss. When it came time to pay for our cocktails, the waiter held up an iPad, screen facing her, and she asked us to pay. I had to ask her what my total was and to see what I was paying for. ‍ Go experience this train but expect the service to not be on par with the price of the ticket.

Yelp
What a great experience! The service from Caesar was top tier! Eddy had everyone jamming the whole ride and is truly talented. We sampled some lovely wines while we got to watch some nice views. I really enjoyed the included charcuterie on board. I'm glad we made the last minute decision to buy tickets. :)

Yelp
I had booked two seats in the Acoma Car on a Sunset Serenade train ride during our stay in Santa Fe. We had a ball. We arrived early and walked around the Railyard exploring a few shops until it was time to board the train. The Acoma Car is an additional cost, but well worth the experience for any train fanatic. The car was originally a luxury lounge car carrying celebrities and elites back in the day. The car ran on the Super Chief from Chicago to Los Angeles, and ran on that rail line starting in 1937. It has been beautifully restored. Inside there are tables seating 4, two large sofa's and individual seats. There is a bar with a bar tender and we had live music throughout our ride. The train left out of Santa Fe and went almost to Lamy following the setting sun. We saw some beautiful scenery, a stunning desert sunset and met some really wonderful people. I kind of feel like this was a hidden secret in Santa Fe and it took some digging to find it, but we are so glad we did, it was a fabulous evening. We ordered the charcuterie boxes and were given a small glass of champagne upon departure and other drinks could be purchased along the way. Parking at the Railyard can be tricky. There is a parking garage, so that works well. There is some metered street parking, but can be filled depending on when you go. We rode the train on a Sunday evening, and at the time we arrived there were open spots on the street, saving us from the expensive parking garage and the gift of being there on a Sunday, the street parking was free. This is a real gem in Santa Fe, and having the opportunity to ride in a historic, luxury lounge car from years past was a treat.

Yelp
It was a nice ride going to see the sunset. There was a group of us that filled one car. Service was outstanding. Only problem I had is that the train car shook so much it was difficult to stand and talk to others which was an important part of the tour.

Yelp
This was fantastic, absolutely gorgeous views and pics. Great local drinks (blood orange cider is nice!) and really nice atmosphere. Great for couples!

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous train. The staff is also very kind and helpful. There's a dragon painted on the side and a wolf in the back that howls if you ask the conductor to show you the feature. The margaritas are phenomenal. The music was elegant guitar (some bossa nova) that I absolutely loved. Took the sunset train and it was relaxing. The snack boxes were delicious. The desert sunset was phenomenal. Such a fun, new thing to do in Santa Fe! Seems like they've really worked out the kinks.

Yelp
Breathtaking views the whole way! Truly fantastic entertainment, the acoustic singer made the whole night magical. Fri 12/06/24 the sunset serenade. First class upgrade was worth every penny! The food boxes were much better than I thought they would be! Fresh made super high quality packaged in the shape of little train cars. The train carrrr was sooo comfortable and beautiful and to my surprise.. Exactly exactly as it was in 1936! They stopped the train at the perfect time and we walked out to open air car to see the most beautiful sunset behind the mountains. The service was friendly and attentive and the drinks flowed! You could tell the employees loved their jobs. We will treasure the memory of this experience for the rest of our lives. Thank you so much!

Yelp
The Manager contacted me immediately the following day to remedy the issues I mentioned in my prior post. He graciously offered us a full refund and also reported he would be communicating the issues with the contracted musician. He also clarified that Pablo the Dragon had a malfunction to his costume and unfortunately missed our train ride. Thank you to management for ensuring its customers are happy and can create positive memories with their families especially during the holiday season. We will visit Sky Railway again in the future when the opportunity comes.

Yelp
When a friend asked if I would like to join a group of fellow nerds on a train ride into the New Mexico desert to watch the solar eclipse, how on earth could I say no?! I drove from Denver to Santa Fe just for this event, and it was very much worth it. Sure, ticket prices weren't cheap, but I thought it was a good value. The event was timely and well organized and I liked that we had the opportunity for food and beverages on the train rides out and back. Live, local music playing in the cars was also a very nice touch and the nerd in me adored being told fun facts on the way to see the eclipse. If you're a train person, this is worth checking out - especially if you go on a day where the farmers market is happening. Plenty of places nearby to grab food or drink before it afterwards, too. I'd also recommend keeping your eyes peeled for special events since I really enjoyed mine!

Yelp
Gorgeous landscape and sunset views!!!! Friendly train members ALL ABOARD: The depot and tracks are beside Tomasita's Restaurant. Do not park at Tomasita's unless you want your vehicle ticketed and towed. Please be at the depot 15-20 minutes prior to departure or risk getting left behind. No need to print your tickets because a friendly platform associate will check you in. My train car was extremely fun because we put in song requests and actually sang them. Even though we were all from different places we were united in singing. KUDOS to the Entertainer/Performer was who outstanding. He kept us singing! NOTE: Sky Railway does not go all the way to the Lamy depot during the 2 - 2.5 hour ride. Leave your cash at hone because it won't be accepted; EXCEPTION- CASH ACCEPTED FOR TIPS; Oh, if you're thinking about drinking alot on the train? Think again. 3 drink per person and that's all you're gonna get....just saying. ***Gather a fun group of family and friends and try the Sky Railway***

Yelp
100/10 experience! I am so glad I ignored the negative reviews and booked with Sky Railway. I feel like I've stumbled upon the best-kept secret of unique travel experiences in Sante Fe. I don't often leave reviews- but I felt it would be selfish not to share this secret local gem with you all. First off, picture this: live music, a beautifully restored train, brilliant ambiance, and gorgeous views. The talented musicians on board turned a train ride into a rolling concert. Their playlist was like a musical love letter to the stunning scenery we breezed through. And speaking of scenery, the views were nothing short of magical. Sunsets over the desert? It's like the universe decided to show off. I'm talking about a panorama of colors that even the best Instagram filters can't capture. It's the kind of stuff that makes you believe in magic. My friends loved me for booking this. It was a hit. And the snacks! The snack boxes were a gastronomic delight - a mix of flavors that were fresh and well curated. Delicious and thoughtfully put together, they turned a simple munch into a culinary journey. And then there were the margaritas. Absolutely delicious- they nailed it. In my opinion, isn't just a train ride; it's a once-in-a-lifetime experience aboard a train you can just feel so much heart and soul was put into, it infuses some magic into the ride and you can feel the love it was given when created. I'm already planning a round two with my crew for a party on the tracks. Imagine celebrating birthdays or anniversaries with this level of class and charm - it's a memory in the making. The staff who owns the train are accommodating, kind, and responsive. They've turned hospitality into an art form, making sure every passenger feels like a VIP. I've never encountered hosts who genuinely care about making your experience unforgettable. I love trains, and have taken many luxury rides. This particular luxury train ride is the ultimate blend of music, scenery, snacks, and margaritas. It's not just a journey; it's a celebration of the beauty of the natural landscape, an ode to the beauty of Sante Fe, and a celebration on rails. Do yourself a favor, book your ticket, and get ready for a fiesta that showcases the best of New Mexico's beauty. Worth every penny. Go, enjoy. You can thank me later!

Yelp
We did the sunset serenade and I don't have anything negative to say about the experience at all. The staff was lovely, the sunset was beautiful, and the musicians were fun. The only downside was the price. I can't say that it's something I would do again for that price.

Yelp
Highly recommend! Absolutely amazing and beautiful views! Fun drinks and snacks. Friendly staff. Fun music. Excellent experience!

Joy S.

Yelp
We went on the scenic serenade rail and it was a waste of $240. The employees were lovely but you looked outside a window and then stopped to take a beautiful photo of the sunset . No one guided anything and there were two people singing. Very overpriced for not much of anything.

Randy B.

Yelp
Margarita Train 09/28/2024 1:30ish Very disapointing 1 small drink per person, the $14. meat and cheese dish was 4" long with stale products. However they are happy to run you a tab for as many drinks as a person wants to buy to the point of inebriation, to the point where a passenger was attempting to sing with the musician for the whole trip. Then to top it off the drunk passenger made contact with myself and my wife laying hands on my wife. I am usualy subdued in situations but found myself being forced to insist that this stranger take his hands off my wife. NOT a expense I would recomend to others.

Yelp
I thoroughly enjoyed this experience! The combination of live music, the scenery & drinks + snacks was perfect for a lovely evening away. Will be coming back!

Ellen R.

Yelp
Six of us took the Margarita train -- the live music was way too loud!!! The people who worked on the train were very nice and tried to turn down the music but the acoustics were so bad it didn't matter. The "free" margarita was acidy and small. We stopped somewhere ? And returned without knowing where we were. Oh, well.

Yelp
Our company, being previously named "The Best Place to Work in Texas," as well as ranked in that general category for The City of Houston, we know hospitality and put our best foot forward for our guests and clients, as hospitality is in our blood. Sky Railway and their employees would never make these lists, as they do not understand the basics of hospitality. In lieu of hospitality, they decided to use basic forms of punishment by closing the bar on our chartered train ride, treating our team like children. This is no way to treat guests from a company which spent thousands of dollars to rent the whole train for a proper experience, simply trying to have fun. If I could rank Sky Railway with a 0-star rating, I would. We had been warned ahead of time that the train did not have a good reputation, but we tried anyways, as our company loves trains. PUBLIC BEWARE!!

CArol M.

Yelp
Very little food. First class you have to pay for water!!! Give me a break. And it comes in a plastic bottle!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow... SO expensive . For my family of five.. a thousand dollars to ride a train ? In which you get ONE drink ??? And NO air conditioning ?? These people be crazy . Not even affordable for an upper middle class family Good luck. Sheesh

Arden C.

Yelp
I'm so pleased to write a review of my and our family experience on the STARGAZET train ride hosted by Sky Railway. IT WAS A WOW! Watching others having such a good time, then seeing the family having a blast. Food was great, the drinks even better! The staff was very helpful and gracious, especially the bartender, Zoe, who made remarkable tasting drinks....so perfect in watching the stars explained by an expert ! I'd do it AGAIN!
google avatar

Renee P.

Yelp
Too expensive for what we received. We went on the St Patrick's day train. The musicians and servers were great. But it was a cold train ride in the dark. Most of it waiting for another train to get out of the way, so we never even got out of town. We saw no views. My boyfriend and I had a good time together. But for $100??? We could have just gone to a pub!

Eva D.

Yelp
Omg! Words cannot express how amazing this is! I enjoyed the live music while looking at the beautiful scenery! So good from the service to the delicious snack boxes to the margaritas. We had an amazing time. Absolutely cannot wait to go back!

Ingrid M.

Yelp
I went on sky railway last night and had the best time!! it was fun to check out the views from the open air car and I really enjoyed the music.

Yelp
My son and I went on the Yoki Train. it was a really wonderful experience, snd so much fun. I know he'll remember it forever!

Yelp
We took the Pablito Christmas Dragon train. It was so very cute. Staff is incredibly nice and friendly. Loved the options for snacks and drinks. The holiday music and story time. It's a perfect amount of time for little ones. Seeing Santa and Pablito after was so fun! We absolutely loved it! We'll definitely be returning again next year!

Yelp
Old reconditioned train, which was interesting. We went on the Murder Mystery Train Ride. Cost: $150. All they gave us to eat was a plastic cup of food, which wasn't very good. The play was mediocre. The servers were wonderful. I hope they work the kinks out because the concept has potential but so far the execution is not impressive.

Erica R.

Yelp
The sunset on this train is INCREDIBLE and the service is second-to-none and the drinks were delicious and reasonably-priced! We really appreciated the live music on BOTH cars and the fun guide who helped us navigate the stars in the New Mexican night sky. We are locals and are looking forward to taking some of the other tours they offer!

D C.

Yelp
Soooo expensive, way too expensive, and very under-whelming. Boring, mediocre music (not as advertised), half the trip was in the dark because they started and scheduled late. Love the idea, great effort, poor execution. Santa Fe needs this but GRRM and partners need to fix it.

J W.

Yelp
Definitely over priced for what you get. Nicely refurbished train. Great staff. Food mediocre.

Carol D.

Yelp
My husband and I did the star gazer train. We had the perfect night, not a cloud in the sky. We got to see the milky way. The guides were very helpful answering everyone's questions. We got a bag of granola and a "shot size" glass of wine. It would have been nice to be given a bottle of water. We did not order any other food or drinks. When we were allowed to go on the flat bed car, we did for the rest of the ride. I think it was a little pricey, but it was our wedding anniversary and we decided to splurge a little. Staff was friendly and helpful. Did not see bad scenery, per other reviews, but it was dark the entire trip. Our train was delayed about 15 minutes due to another train being on the tracks. Not their fault, Safety first! We will go again with friends or family who come to visit us.
