This was my eighth time to go up in the sky tower. It is an amazing place to visit as a tourist or a local. The entrance is through the glass sliding doors next to the base of the tower and down the escalators. The ride up is to the 51st floor. The Cafe a couple of floors up is the best to sit in and watch the city. The cost is very reasonable too. The views from there are amazing and during the winter very few people are there where it makes it more fun to walk around. It is a must see place in Auckland.

Google
Beautiful and well thought of sky over in the middle of the city. I suggest that you visit the store the last day of your trip so that you can appreciate and see the places you have been going around. The observation deck has three levels. One is the main of the territory then there’s a high observation deck and the third one is a restaurant which has nice coffee and an ice cream bar and everything is fantastic. Not over pricing.

This is my third time in Auckland, but my first time going up the Sky Tower. Thank goodness we did it! It's so much cooler and taller than the Space Needle (cough). We went at sunset which made it even more special and we watched a person do the Sky Fall. Now I don't have to do it! Highly recommend this. Well worth the price!

Google
Unique experience. The city views are amazing and very beautiful. If you are in the city with time, I recommend checking with an app what time the sun sets so you can see the sunset. This way, you can see the city during the day and at night. At the entrance, they take a photo of you that you can buy later if you want. The souvenir coin you can buy for only $3 is very original and doesn’t take up space in your suitcase. The only thing I didn’t like was the highest level. It’s a very small space and there was a bad smell. The rest was very comfortable and nice to walk around. You can also sit at the bar to drink coffee or something else. There is also an ice cream shop. Prices are the same as in other places in the city

Google
This is an unique experience where you can get a 360 birds eye view of the mainland & neighboring islands. At the entrance they click a photo which can be purchased when you exit if you want to. Try to get here early to avoid crowds. There is sky-walk & sky jump for adventure seekers. The sky-scrappers that you walked along seems to be very tiny from the top. The tower is a significant hub for radio broadcast stations.

Google
Booking was simple, staff were accommodating especially as we had two mobility scooters being used on our party of 8 adults and an infant. Nothing was too much trouble. Food was awesome. So much selection yet at high standards. Been twice in 5 years and travelling from England it was definitely worth a visit. Window seat is a must!!

Google
This was my last night in Auckland and it was affordable and completely worth it. I did it for sunset. I'd say if you're here and wondering if you should do it. Id say yes. Absolutely. All 3 floors had something different to offer

I couldn't visit Auckland without a trip up the Sky Tower. The views are fantastic and we were blessed with beautiful weather. Well worth a visit both day and night, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. PCB 👌🏻

Yelp
Arrival was a bit confusing as you go downstairs to purchase tickets and get the lift. Thankfully not too busy when I went on a Thursday evening around 7pm. Was able to get my ticket at the kiosk and wait about five minutes before heading up. Amazing views of the city! Must do on a clear weather day. The 51st floor gave good views but the 60th floor was the winner. It has an unobstructed view with the glass and supports also clear. Made for some beautiful pictures. The 53rd floor was a bar/snack/seating area and leaving that floor was a bit confusing as you needed to walk down two floors. I'd hope they have accommodations for those that can't take stairs. Similar with getting back to the ground floor, no clear signs on how to do so and there wasn't anyone there standing by to provide guidance. I'd go for the views cause they are amazing and if timed correctly could see the sun set.

Yelp
The Sky Tower is undoubtedly one of Auckland's most iconic landmarks, standing as the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere. Opened in 1997, this marvel of engineering is a key part of Auckland's skyline and now visitors have a chance to experience the city from incredible heights. Built as part of the SkyCity complex, the tower serves multiple purposes, including telecommunications, observation decks, and as home to several dining experiences, including the Orbit 360 restaurant where we dined. Up we go into the tower and treated to panoramic views that stretch across Auckland's harbors, islands, and the distant mountain ranges. It's a quintessential tourist stop, but one where the jaw-dropping vistas fully justify the tourist reputation.

Yelp
Checking out Auckland from over 700 feet high was a great way to kick off our trip and get a lay of the land before all our adventures! There are three viewing decks, a revolving restaurant, and, for the more adventurous visitor (or adrenaline junkies), you can even jump off the tower or walk around the outer rim (ok yikes??!!). PRO TIP: Tickets are $2NZD cheaper if you buy them online via their website. But you can buy them at the door at one of their kiosks too. All their elevators have "operators" that take you up and down etc. They start you off at the lowest viewing deck - the "main" deck on level 51 which is 610 feet up. They have window decals with interesting info about all the sights you're seeing which was cool. You get excellent views of Westhaven Marina (largest in the southern hemisphere apparently) and the Auckland bridge, as well as the 53 volcanoes that surround the city! It was great - but was definitely the most packed floor. And the windows were super filthy - especially the ones on the floor looking down - it was gross lol. Once you're done there, the elevator operator takes you up to the Sky Deck on level 60 at 722 feet which is their highest viewing floor! This one was WAY less crowded and much better - and the windows were all super clean. The only thing missing were the info signs but it was fun bc you can look down on people doing the Sky Walk. Definitely my fave viewing floor. And last but not least the elevator operator brings you down to "The Lookout" on level 53 at 636 feet. This one was also great bc this is where you get to watch the adventurers doing the Sky Walk up close haha! Brave souls!! It looked positively terrifying to me - nope nope nope lol!! Level 53 also had couches and seating areas and a small bar type area but I didn't see a menu so am not sure what they were serving. We just so happened to show up right as the Sky Walkers were heading out so it was really fun to see them doing the photo stunts with their guide. The families of the walkers were having a blast watching - definitely a fun activity! And later in our trip we saw someone doing the Sky Jump - such a crazy thing to see haha - definitely adds an exciting element to the city. We heard a scream and looked up just in time - it was startling so just be aware that it's likely you'll witness that when e exploring the city lol. In addition to the revolving restaurant Orbit 360° they have a bar called SkyBar on level 50. There's a gift shop on the ground floor and they even have a virtual "ride" called the Sky Slide lol. Staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The tower is right in the heart of the CBD and was very convenient for us - a short walk from our hotel. We landed way too early to check in so had the hotel hold our bags and we stretched our legs and walked over. It's a tad pricey but I'd say it's a must - such great views and a great way to start your Auckland adventures!

Yelp
Looking for something quick to do... this is it! Spectacular views of Auckland! Not overly crowded! Kid's sections! Educational! Breathtaking! And even someThing for the daredevils of the family --- bungee jumping! Windows were a bit dirty on the main floor (51) but if you went all the way to the top... they were clean! Quite an experience! The staff were so kind and informative! The entire building and outside areas were spotless! Bathrooms were clean & maintained! Not a whole lot to choose from in the souvenir shop for adults... but our souvenirs are our photos, I guess! I'd definitely recommend this for a super quick stop or if you just have some time to kill! Wish I could've bungeed but the had just closed it for the day when I inquired!!!

Bruce K.

Yelp
How could I not. Even on a somewhat rainy and overcast day, there was still very good visibility from the observation deck so it was worth it. I've been to quite a few of these towers around the world including the Calgary Tower, the Space Needle, the Rhine Tower in Düsseldorf, Olympiaturm in Munich, the CN Tower in Toronto and recently, the Fernsehturm in Stuttgart. Every time it's magical to ride the elevator to touch the sky. Auckland's tower is extra special because they not only have a few sections of glass floor to walk on, there's a bar where you can get a drink. There's just something wonderful about sitting calmly with a beer a few hundred feet above the city. This was fabulous. [Review 529 of 2024 - 174 in New Zealand - 21561 overall]

Yelp
Sky Tower is an iconic landmark of Auckland. The tower is host to an indoor casino (21+ only), a restaurant at the top and their most famous featured attraction: the Sky Walk and Sky Jump. Face your fears against a height of 192m by walking around the Sky Tower on a thin circular rim attached to harness in their Sky Walk or defy gravity by jumping off the tower in their Sky Jump. Both attractions are unique and if you're up for it, it's worth doing. Any package you choose comes with free video and photos! I absolutely loved the friendly staff and their focus on safety, I literally trusted them with my life! I was never afraid of heights so I had no issues booking this, but I would encourage anyone to experience it because it's truly worth it and is a conversation starter!

Yelp
Expensive lift to floor 32 but views were amazing of Auckland. People were bungy jumping from top of tower and our floor had glass flooring. Creepy. Didn't stay long

Jasmine A.

Yelp
When I travel, I am not particularly interested in going up in a tall building or tower, such as the Eiffel Tower or Empire State Building, especially with the crazy prices that are charged. $40+ for a view? I'll pass. However, we did purchase tickets for the Sky Tower as we got a slight discount when we bundled it with the Weta Workshop tour, it was near our hotel, and we didn't have anything better to do. Due to our itinerary and other activities we had planned, we did not go until our last day in Auckland which was fortunate, as that was the one day where there wasn't any rain or clouds, so we had a great view. The Sky Tower is is 328 meters tall and the main observation deck is on level 51, with 360 degree views of the city at 186 meters. The observation deck has sections of thick glass floors so that you can see down (I don't understand how 38mm or 1.5 inches is considered thick!). The elevator also has glass floors, and it's quite the weird sensation to be able to look down as you are going up or down very rapidly -- not recommended for people with vertigo! Fortunately there weren't many people on the observation deck when we were up there, so it was nice and relaxing and we spent our time taking in the view. In addition to the observation deck, there are also restaurants in the Sky Tower and the opportunity to "skywalk" (walking around the outside of the tower at a height of 192 meters while wearing a harness) or "skyjump" which is exactly as it sounds -- jumping from a height of 192 meters and reaching speeds of up to 85kph. That's a hard NOPE for me! [Yelp collections: NZ/Fiji 2023; New Zealand 2023]

Yelp
Definitely a really cool experience. It gives a 360 view of Auckland! I went around 6:30pm in November and it was the perfect time! There are 3 different floors after you pay to go up and there is a new bar on the 53rd floor that is pretty cool to check out. There is also the jump and the sky tower walk around that are cool experiences but a little bit expensive. I did dine at the orbit which is the restaurant on the 52nd floor and it gives you free entry to the sky tower decks. I think without the dining experience I may not have gone to the sky deck as it is expensive but overall, worth it for the 1x experience.

David W.

Yelp
Buy online for cheaper tickets. Come on a day where it opens late so that you can see the day, sunset and night views. There are two floors to view from. Free WiFi. Checking this off the list of towers I've visited across the globe! Thank you mother nature for the show tonight! Happy Thanksgiving

Yelp
If a city has a tall structure with a awesome viewing deck, I just have to go! Auckland is no exception and this tower is definitely worth a visit. It obviously makes the Auckland skyline what it is. The entrance is in the SkyCity Auckland which houses a casino. "The Sky Tower is a telecommunications and observation tower in Auckland, New Zealand... It is 328 meters (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast, making it the second tallest freestanding structure in the Southern Hemisphere, surpassed by Autograph Tower in Jakarta, Indonesia." - Wikipedia

Yelp
My wife and I were on vacation in Auckland and the Sky Tower was right across the street from our hotel. There are a lot of things around it, like the All Blacks Experience (Meh) and the Weta experience, which I did not visit. We got the go up twice option, where we went up during the day and for a few dollars more, you can go up at night. The views from above are amazing and we could see the All Blacks stadium, the harbor and at night, it was beautiful to see the biggest bridge in New Zealand. The bottom stop is nice, but the crown jewel is when you go up a level, where there are less obstructions. I would say this is a "Must see" in Auckland. I would spend the extra few dollars to go up at night and during the day.

Delon L.

Yelp
View was amazing! We only have two days to visit Auckland and the sky tower was a great way to take it all in with just one stop. There's a souvenir shop at the end of the sky tower attraction so don't feel like you have to buy whatever they are selling at the viewing floor.

Robert W.

Yelp
Yes, in Auckland I think the sky Tower restaurant is an absolute must the food was great and very nicely done which I didn't expect but the view is exquisite one of the best in the world to see Auckland Bay and the sun setting. I will never forget that dinner we had And with the exchange rate get to New Zealand quick everything is cheap compared to the US where everything is crazy expensive inflation during the Biden anomic horror show has been excruciating to the wallet.

Andrea U.

Yelp
Auckland's SkyTower is the tallest structure in the Southern Hemisphere, this tower is more than 900 feet high with stunning views. There is a fine restaurant on the 56th floor a gift shop and an opportunity to walk on the outside of the viewing platforms, or by jumping off from 192 metres above the CBD.

Jason E.

Yelp
My family and I stopped through SkyTower on a whim after we wrapped up the morning at MOTAT. I appreciate how easy it is get around Auckland. I feel like the same trip from one side of the city to the city center in most other major cities would take much longer than 20 minutes. Anyway, with some extra time, we stopped here. It was super easy to get in and out, thanks to this being associated with a huge casino, which always comes with a huge parking garage. Obviously, you need to ensure it's easy to get around if you want people to come here and gamble. So, thanks, gamblers! I like visiting tall buildings with observation decks. They're always a showcase for how a city views itself, and what it wants to show you. SkyTower is a solid choice. Not the best (that was Taipei 101, or maybe Tokyo Tower), and not the worst (that was Sydney Tower Eye). Auckland doesn't have the most conducive skyline to gazing from on high, but it's worth a look. A basic ticket gets you to the 51st floor, with an option to take a second elevator to the 60th floor. In either case you're only about halfway up the tower, as the spire makes up a majority of highest points of the structure. The journey to the 51st floor is made in a partially glass elevator -- those who are not into that should be warned. What I appreciate, compared to other towers, is once you're in the tower, there's not a huge effort to upsell to other experiences. The point is to enjoy the view. And the windows, which arc out from the tower, allow you to see all the way to the ground. There's even one section of the observation deck that is thick glass floor, which is always fun. Worth a stop to get a different perspective on the city. Not essential, but fun if it is your thing.

Ester B.

Yelp
It is one of the main attractions in the city. Buy tickets on-line. Good views. There is a casino on the ground level.

Kelly S.

Yelp
I heard about this tower with some amazing 360 panchromatic views of the city of Auckland from fellow yelpers and knew I had to check it out. My firend and I arrived early and got our tickets to not only see the different observation desks but also to do the sky walk adventure. Riding up the elevator is an experience in itself, there is a glass bottom with some great views. The tower is 328m tall. We started off with the sky walk, definitely worth the price ! Lot's of safety first and changing into a full body harness. Our guide was the best, she was fun, knowledgeable and challenged us to do some things out of our comfort zones. She ended up getting us some killer photos! With only two of us doing the walk we had more time to hear about the city and take in the views 192m above the streets. They say the walk takes about 75 mins to complete the 140m metal walkway but we were out there even longer. We also got to see a few people do the sky jump... great angle! After the walk we bought our photos and checked out the main observation deck. There is a glass floor portion that is fun to stand on and take photos, not as big as the one in Chicago but still cool. There is a souvenir shop with anything and everything with the sky tour logo on it. This is a very cool experience I highly recommend, worth the price!

Gordon V.

Yelp
Very impressive tower. There is a restaurant inside that you can enter from the casino or outside the casino. There are no hats allowed in casino, and dress nice casual or better. Sign up for their players card and receive $10 of free play and a free appetizer at the restaurant. The casino was not as I had expected, but was fun for 1/2 hour. Go to the top of the tower for the view, but everything costs money.

Brittney B.

Yelp
The Sky Tower is awesome, there was a line when we went in but it's because the elevators stop automatically when they sense there is too much wind. Let me tell you, THERE WAS SO MUCH WIND! You take a 42-50 second elevator ride up to the 51st floor (the first viewing platform), then you can take another elevator to the 60th floor. The 60th floor is the WAY to go but hold on if it's windy because the towers sways a TON at the very top! It's scary but cool! Definitely worth a stop if you're in Auckland!

Nicole E.

Yelp
I couldn't seem to get away from view of the sky tower all over Auckland. I saw people on the spikes of the top, was too far away to see what they were up to. My camera couldn't zoom in enough. It's a space age looking structure. We didn't have time to go to the top. Will have to dedicate some more time and a few hours to go up and see the city from above. It reminds me of the base handle of a light saber.

Simone M.

Yelp
For almost $20 you will encounter lovely views of the city. This is definitely a great spot for tourists with tons of time as well as those with just a few hours to explore. The observation decks are pretty small so you can get around it fairly quickly to take shots from all directions of the city. I went during the day when it was clear and loved it, but I imagine it offers even more breathtaking photo opportunities during the evening when you can see the lights of the city. It provides a good vantage point to find new spots to discover and it seems like a one stop shop. You can eat and gamble in the building as well. It's very similar to the Willis Tower experience in Chicago or even the John Hancock building there as well. So get out there and see what the city around you has to offer. It's extremely walkable and they seem to have buses that will take you everywhere.

PatrickJ T.

Yelp
The Sky Tower in Auckland, New Zealand is one of the tourist attractions worth seeing. It is a cool place to visit. The panoramic views of Auckland and the surrounding area are terrific. If you are hungry, there are a few restaurants to dine at. For the daredevils out there, try the Sky Jump or Sky Walk. Gonna cost you extra, though. So go up the Sky Tower and enjoy!! Views of Auckland and beyond are best seen from here.

Leila R.

Yelp
I usually avoid overtly touristy spots, but I love going into observation towers and getting city panos, especially when a city is so happily situated as Auckland. It was actually a surprisingly painless experience. Street parking was easy to find and walking to the tower was simple as was the ticket purchase and elevator process. I went on a weekday evening, so I think that is why there was no wait whatsoever. The elevator ride is half the fun of theexperience! It has a glassbottom while you are in the covered part of the elevator shaft, then opens up with the glass windows to see the city! The 360- views are fantastic from any part of the tower and there are two decks to view from. There are also clear panels that you can stand or even lay on that give you a view to the street below. It was actually entertaining to see people freak out about sitting or standing on the panels and hanging onto the window sides for dear life! The people watching up there is fantastic. It was very crowded when I arrived at the top, but getting an elevator back down did not require any waiting. All in all, a definite tourist experience that I could recommend, even with the high price tag. But, it is all in what you make of it.

Janel T.

Yelp
When I lived in Auckland last year, I had 4 days left till I fly over to Wellington so I made a spontaneous decision to do the sky walk and sky jump for my early 22nd birthday present. I bought the 'Look and Leap" package that costed $290 USD, yeaaah it was expensive but since I'm leaving Auckland might as well end it with a bang! This package is where you do the sky walk and sky jump, meaning you walk around/hang/jump off the edge of the sky tower. The view was amaaaaazing and just reminiscing these moments makes wanna cry haha. But as for the skyjump, its like training wheels before you go skydiving haha, I already did skydiving in Hawaii before this so it felt similar except I could've died but doing the sky jump is much more safer lol. You have a harness attached around your body and you have a Go Pro on your wrist to capture the moment. I recommend trying this out when you are in New Zealand, Auckland!

Powder W.

Yelp
Not as tall as Tokyo sky tower, not as fancy (having a mall attached) as the Santiago sky tower but more importantly, is it worth it? Of course it is. Especially at sunset. We rode to the observation deck (51) and enjoyed looking at this beautiful city from 360 degrees. Then we rode up to Floor 60 and did the same thing. Finally we came back to the 51st floor, settled in and watched the sun set. What a lovely way to spend our first evening in Auckland. It helped set the tone for our entire stay and helped us get the lay of the land including the general direction of what was there. You can also walk on the glass paneled flooring should you choose. We saw many of the younger visitors taking selfies on those and it was cute to watch them giggling and snapping away. Worth doing!

Tiffany F.

Yelp
Terrifying and thrilling at the same time lol. We were originally just going to do the skywalk, but the group we were walking the catwalk with, were all doing to jump after (as well). After some encouragement and hyping up, we decided to do the jump with everyone, too! It was much safer feeling than normal bungee jumping, since it's attached to your back & not your ankles...& it's a cable that slows you down once you get towards the very bottom of your jump. Loads of fun! I'd do it again.

Chun P.

Yelp
Sky Tower...the obligatory giant tower one must visit on any trip. Its not the biggest, or the fanciest, nor the prettiest, but it gets the job done giving you a nice 220 meter tall & 360 degree view of Auckland. Be sure to go up to the next level, it seems that half the tourists don't know there is another level, so its less crowded, quieter, and the windows are a lot cleaner. The cafe is also relatively quiet and you can enjoy a generous 2 scoop ice cream in a waffle cone for a reasonable $9.50NZ. Note: We were here on a Monday evening in the off season, so less crowded overall! $32NZ isn't cheap, but it is cheaper than Tokyo's Skytree and Seattle's Space Needle. You can also pay a lot more for the SkyJump(jump off the tower!) or SkyWalk (walk outside the tower!) experiences, but I was too chickenshit to do either.

Donna D.

Yelp
One thing I've found myself doing in every city I go and visit, it to see it from above. The Sky Tower in Auckland is attached to the casino in town. They have day tickets, and you can add $20 to get another admission during the night time. We didn't do this, and instead just went up before sunset, to see the day time, the sunset, and stayed til the city lights came on. Word to the wise, a lot of other people had this same idea. There are two levels of viewing platforms. Sometimes one platform will have less people than the other, and you can go between the two with the elevator. You feel pretty high up there because all of the other buildings in the city are so tiny. So yes, you do feel higher up than you are. Also, at this specific Sky Tower, you can walk around the outside of it. You can probably jump off of it as well. This is for those thrill adrenaline junkies that flock to New Zealand. The Sky Tower gives you a 360 degree view from smack in the middle of the city. The windows are tilted outwards, great for photo ops of someone falling. They also have glass floors here and there. And seriously, there's something scary about standing on a floor where you can look down to the building tops.

Margaret S.

Yelp
We went to Sky tower to see all of Auckland! We arrived around 7:45pm which was the perfect time, as we got to see the city in a variety of lighting. We were able to see the entire sunset over the city. One of my favorite parts was the bridge lighting up at 9pm. It was definitely worth a stay! - You can re-enter the tower within 24 hours for $4 - Have your video ready for the elevator ride up! - Enter the main lobby then take the escalator downstairs to get Skytower tickets - We were easily able to find coupons for tickets, saving us about $25 total

Alice F.

Yelp
This review is for the SkyWalk at the Sky Tower: what a blast! I've done the EdgeWalk at the CN Tower in Toronto, so I had to check this out too. In many ways, this felt taller than our experience in Toronto because the buildings in Auckland are shorter, so you're really above most everything! Staff were friendly and we loved our guide, Delilah. Getting suited up was efficient, and after a quick ride to the 53rd floor, we were ready to go! Our group was 5 guests total: most of the groups we saw were no more than 6 people, and in a couple cases, only 1 person, so I like that these are smaller groups. We did several challenges in the walk, and Delilah made sure we all got good pictures. Totally worth the time and money for this Auckland thrill! (Oh, my partner added on the SkyJump. I watched from the landing pad. The staff are very nice to the observers who are too chicken to jump! )

Diane W.

Yelp
Is it 'touristy'? Yes. Should you go? Yes. The Sky Tower is one of those 'must do' when in Auckland. You will have amazing views of the city and harbor. You may also see people participating in the controlled 'fall' from the tower. On the lower observation deck they have some clear sections in the floor that allow you to look straight down - nice! The higher elevation deck was quieter and the windows were larger. One of the staff members was happy to take a photo for us.

Marissa V.

Yelp
Great views of the city from the Sky Deck. You go up on a glass elevator which you can see out of and through the bottom. You can also view people doing the Sky Walk or the Sky Jump from the upper deck. It's pretty cool. If you are a tourist in the area you definitely should do this to get a 360 degree view of the city.

Keith A.

Yelp
One issue, the entrance isn't obvious. And this area is developing a lot, so there is construction everywhere . Other than that, versus other such structures, it has the most to offer inside

Susan C.

Yelp
Well done Aukland. Loved the vistas from up top and enjoyed watching the jumpers fall:). Glad it wasn't me, whew, it made me really nervous. We got to the top as the sun came out and enjoyed a 360 degree view of Aukland. What a beautiful city.

Kai A.

Yelp
It's a cool experience to get a general layout of the city but because it's a pretty small city, there's not much to see. For $29 NZD, it's average price but unless you have nothing better to do for the day, I'd skip it. You're better off using that cash towards food (per my husband).

Angela C.

Yelp
Pretty nice tourist attraction. No wait to go up. Nice view of the entire Auckland from the top. Bathrooms are clean. Cool photos can be taken for extra fee. A cafe to enjoy with the view on top.

Rajesh N.

Yelp
Great views from the observation decks! The Sky Jump is pure fun. Buy your tickets online to save a few $.

I have a fear of heights...and on a scale of 1 to 10...it's at 11! But for someone with such a fear, there are places in the Skytower where one can sit or stand and not be in fear. Of course, at the scenic elevator, avoid looking down through the glass floor. Also try to avoid the glass floors at the main viewing deck. And most of all, keep away from the glass walls on the two viewing decks of the tower. And it doesn't help if you have family pulling your onto all these places you're trying to avoid! The views were just wonderful! Scenic 360 degree views of the city of Auckland on both the Main Observation deck and the Sky Deck levels. There were people doing the Skyjump that day. Why would someone jump off a perfectly functional tower? The gift shop was well-stocked, and the prices were reasonable. The family enjoyed our visit to the Skytower. Should be in your itinerary when visiting Auckland.

Yelp
If you're new to Auckland, you might as well visit the Sky Tower. Auckland's number one landmark! Features and things you need to know: ~ Three hundred and sixty degrees of stunning views, obviously :) ~ You'll feel the swaying on the very top level. ~ The windows are slanted diagonal, so you may feel a bit nauseous at first. Especially if hungover, eesh... Won't do that again. ~ For a straight window view to feel better. Check out the Sky Cafe to get some ice cream or share some wine. ~ They've got a SkyWalk that seems simple enough to do. Challenge yourself! ~ You can base-jump by doing the SkyJump. Somewhat free-falling down the tower, but you're cable guided. ~ There's a revolving restaurant called Orbit. My review pending: great food, mediocre service. ~ Or you can opt to chill with a cocktail over at the Sugar Club. ~ Oh yeah, love the glass floor windows. Always a trip. ~ Prices seem fair: Adult $28.00, Child (6-14 years) $11.00, and Children 5 years and under are free. ~ OR, you can book the Sugar Club or Orbit and your admission to the top is FREE. ~ Orbit has inner-dining tables that still rotate. ~ If you're looking for a window table at night, reservations are a few months out. ~ OR, (one of my tips) book window table dining during lunch time. Odds are better. Only days away versus months. ~ As the late Robin William's once said in Dead Poet's Society: "Now, don't just walk off the edge like lemmings! Look around you!"

Yelp
If I was a budget traveler, I probably wouldn't have made a stop to Sky Tower. Mt. Eden and One Tree Hill also offers superior views of Auckland for the nice price of free. Sky Tower charges a cool 28NZ (you can find a $3 off coupon in the NZ arrival brochures in the airport or bring your student ID which brings the price to 20NZ) for the privilege of shuttling you up to their 360 observation deck for unobstructed views of Auckland. You are completely encased in and the experience is similar to any other major cities that have admission based observation towers. We made it there on a Monday so it wasn't too crowded. The 1st elevator stop takes you to an area that has restrooms and displays identifying points of interest. Then you can take a 2nd elevator up to a higher but smaller area for observation. No restrooms there so be sure to make a potty stop if you want to camp out in the higher area. We got there about 1 hour before sunset to catch some daylight, the sunset and then a bit of whatever gets lit up just before dark. There is a cafe and restaurants. I think if you have reservations to the restaurant, you can do the Sky Tower for free. You also have the option of bungee jumping off Sky Tower or doing a Sky Walk (walking outside around the rim). Sky Tower is lumped together with the Sky City complex so there's a bunch of eateries in the immediate area and a casino. Free speedy wifi at the top!

Yelp
This is the tallest tower in the city. They have an observation deck that you can view the city from. They also have bungee chairs at the base for tourists to visit.

Yelp
Skywalk 360 Experience For glorious views of Auckland and beyond, this is a great experience to do on a good sunny day. It's a 140M walk, 192M up above the streets below, the walk takes about 75 minutes overall including gearing up, the safety checks and prep. Once on the outside not only do you get to see fantastic views, but you are tasked to try a few activities from your friendly guide. Your being filmed and pictures are taken thoughout the walk to purchase later. If your not keen on heights it'll either cure you or make you wonder why you ever decided to do it. It is not cheap, but well worth the cost for the experience. If you provide proof of a previous AJ Hackett experience you get a discount. Also make sure you get your parking ticket verified if parked in Skycity carpark, as can save quite a bit too. You also get a free ticket to check out the observation deck too. Take the chance and walk on the wilder side of Auckland and enjoy !

Yelp
Still have memories of going to the sky tower when I was younger. This tower is pretty much the needle tower of Seattle, Washington USA or the Stratosphere In Las Vegas. It rises up sky high above the city of Auckland and consists of a restaurant and bar. It rotates in a 360 degree giving you the best views of the City. The glass elevator and floor makes the experience a whole different level. I remember it being really cheap back then but I am sure prices have skyrocketed by now. I honestly wish the city of San Francisco had one of these because it would be a perfect addition to the city. A must to any Auckland, New Zealand Trip!!

Yelp
This is an awesome place to come and view the city. You have a 360 degrees unobstructed view of the entire city. They also take your pictures which you can buy for 35 dollars. If you are considering this place for your stay, the hotel is located in the center of the city which is a perfect location for restaurants and sight seeing.

Yelp
Pricey for the actual short trip up and to see the views. Also, we found the windows to be extremely dirty and difficult to take nice pictures. In my opinion, not a must-do activity in Auckland.

Yelp
Beautiful 360 view of Auckland! The ride up and down is smooth and quick. Once in the tower they have spots where the floor is glass and you can look straight down. They also have seating along the window area where you can sit, relax, and enjoy the amazing view. There's also a souvenir shop and bathrooms. This is not to be missed if you are in the area.

Yelp
This is a "must-do" if you're visiting Auckland. It's actually a great start to your trip, as you'll get to see the entire city, 360°, from the tallest vantage point. The downside is that you can't see the one iconic Auckland landmark, since you're in it!

Yelp
It's easy way to see all of what Auckland has to offer from a bird's eye view. The staff are quite friendly and it wasnt overcrowded when i went. The glass floor panels did make my heart skip a beat but it was great fun seeing other people's reactions too. Not brave enough to attempt the sky jump or sky walk but it's an additional to-do here. My only grouse, if any was the expensive parking rates at skycity starting from $15 for the first hour.
