We made a rsvp and was told a staff would call to confirm the rsvp. Unfortunately, the call didn’t happen. The request on the rsvp to sit at the corner was not known by the serving staff.
We came for the high tea menu ($57.55 inclusive of gst and sc for 2 pax) and were served 8 varieties and tea per pax ($28.77).
The food presentation was not appetising - all brown and green. Little effort made for each dish. The quality of food not great. Lacked of variety. Food served was not what we saw from the poster. A complete misrepresentation to me.
The view was great but the kitchen equipments from the open kitchen made too much noise for it be conducive and enjoyable.
While it’s Marriott, the service quality has declined. It was a weekday late afternoon and there were barely any customers. We acknowledged we sat past 5pm but staff A was unable to articulate politely to us. The first time she came, we asked for refill and new pot of tea, she told us it was past 5pm and she would have to charge but she would serve this time but not next visit (something to the effect…). It was 5.08pm, the cafe wasn’t busy and it was just a pot of tea. Surprisingly, staff B came to help served the tea and she asked if there would be any last order as it’s closing at 5.30pm.
Few minutes later, staff A came and told us there would be a 6pm rsvp at our table. We understood the message - ‘please leave’. No smile, the approach and the message made us feel uncomfortable. The hot tea took us some time and we left at 5.44pm.
I would appreciate a smile, ‘how’s the food’ or ‘ladies, can I get you anything else as we would be starting our dinner menu at 5.30pm’ or ‘ladies, can I move you to another table as we have a rsvp at this table at 6pm’? People get it and will leave anyway after they are done with their tea.
