Very very poor hostel.we booked 4 nights here overpaid for the room that had every mattress was thin. Our dog has a better bed. We we're then charged more because apparently it was a bank holiday weekend. This was all booked 4 months in advance. Not enough toilets or showers for the amount of people there. The fan in the shower was so loud it wakes people up. NO hot water for a shower the morning we left. Out the back they have cavarens that make the place look like a dump. Be interesting to find out if they a legal. Only good things about this place was the free tea and coffee. The staff were good and location was good. Worst hostel we have been in on our 6 weeks in Scotland.. Do not book here is rubbish

I booked a room for four, and this accommodation offers great value for the price. The room had a pleasant view, the bathroom was clean, and the private parking was very convenient. The shared kitchen was a good size and fully equipped, which made it even more comfortable. An amazing place to stay — clean facilities, a friendly atmosphere, and welcoming staff. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Overall a good place to stay for a night or two if you’re on Skye. Kyleakin is a super small town and it’s quite far from the sights on Skye (especially if you don’t have a car). The room was okay, it was clean and comfortable but quite damp and a bit musty and you could hear the rest of the hostel very clearly. We got the breakfast for £4.50 p/p and that was great. The guy at the reception was super friendly and accommodating.

Very lovely place! They allowed us an early check in so we could visit the town. The room were clean and staff very polite and helpful, they suggested us a tour to see the cows and we loved it sooo much! The sharing area are clean and there is a lovely atmosphere all around. The parking is also good. Very good location and close by to lots of gift shops and cafe

we booked 2 nights here last week as it was the cheapest available option on the isle of skye. big mistake. if you want to stay in a cold, smelly static caravan in the back garden shared with strangers (and no privacy curtains or anything on the beds), with no lockers for your stuff, be my guest. if it had been more clear when we were booking where we would actually be housed i would never have chosen to stay here. we didn't realise that our room wouldn't even be inside the hostel until we arrived as the pictures did not show anything of the sort and the only small mention of this important detail was in the small print right at the bottom of the hostel description on booking.com. the kitchen was alright but when we got there it was so crowded we had to sit and wait in the lounge (with a random guy playing guitar to himself) until about 8.30pm until we could start making dinner. the blonde woman who works there was also quite rude when telling us the kitchen was closing at 11pm and that we had to leave so she could clean. not even a sorry or thank you in the process. not only that, but if you needed to use the bathroom you had to either go to the hut outside or walk back inside the house and wait for one to be free. the showers were somewhat cleaner than other hostels ive stayed in though. overall, this place was very overstimulating and one of the worst hostel experiences ive had and my gf ended up leaving midway through the trip because it was so unbearable to stay. you get what you pay for i guess. on the plus side, the rest of the workers were very friendly and helpful when needed. the location of this hostel is also quite out of the way for any activities on the isle of skye- a 1 hour drive in the car from portree, about an hour and a half from the fairy pools and 2 hours from neist point lighthouse. this meant we didn't quite get time to do everything we had hoped to. so good luck if you plan on taking a bus to get around. the only place it was really handy for was the bridge to leave the island 🤣 that being said, the town of kyleakin itself was very pretty and cute to walk around.

Very nice staff and clean premises. The location is really great. Although you have to get to the other side of the bridge for grocery so that’s sad. It is priced on the higher end though but that is expected because of the location and not a lot of options around.

Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The guest's kitchen is of a reasonable size and fully equipped for a self-catering holiday. Generous breakfast at an acceptable price. The room is not very big though and there's no storage space therein. Passable for two occupants but not suitable for four adults with suitcases or other luggage as well. Washroom and toilet facilities could do with an upgrade. Clean and basic but certainly not sufficient enough for the number of people staying there. Nevertheless, a quirky hostel with helpful staff on hand to answer any questions you may have about the area or the hostel itself.

Would not recommend to anyone. We left a night early and stayed at another hostel (similar prices!) in Skye that was so far beyond the standard of this hostel it's almost comical. Therefore: for the same price you CAN get a lot better in Skye. The staff were really friendly no faults there. We checked in 9.30pm, perhaps that's why we weren't shown the bathrooms or around. (We ended up searching for the showers for a while – turned out to be a closet in the wall on the floor above). There are simply not enough bathrooms and showers for the amount of people and they are horrendously outdated. We decided to leave after a night and upon stripping the sheets found the mattresses and pillows in gross condition. The location makes for a poor base to explore Skye – long drives needed to get anywhere.

Yelp
I love this hostel. It's friendly and comfortable and everyone is very hospitable. It is just a place to rest your head, so don't expect sky tv in all the rooms, and be prepared for bunk beds. But that's what you expect from a hostel. And you know what? It's absolutely fine! The sheets are clean, the rooms are clean, and there are quirky little touches that make you go 'awwww.' Better yet -they have a house cat! Laxziest and most unfriendly cat ever, but awesome nonetheless. The lounge is my favourite bit to be honest. I stayed here about 10 years ago and the lounge was what I remembered the most, and remains virtually unchanged. It has a fireplace that in the chilly evenings is cozy and warm, and everyone in the hostel congregates to this room. You end up chatting to people from all over the world, sharing a whisky or a beer. I will make mention of the toilets and showers. Clean. But few in number. We stayed at the front part where there were two rooms, with six beds each, and one toilet and one shower. Luckily they were separate doors altogether, but made it tricky for shower timings. Furthermore after a particularily booze filled Christmas eve in the pub, trying to find a toilet from the lounge took me up three flights of stairs where I couldn't work out the lightswitch. That's not entirely the fault of the hostel, but more my inebriation. It was interesting to say the least ;) Overall, Kyleakin is not a big village by any stretch of the imagination. But they have three hostels, and a hotel. When I was there at Christmas, just the one pub, although supposedly more will open up. It's a good base for travelling around skye, and it's well priced. In the evenings you can go to the pub, or play boardgames in the hostel. Even...take a cheeky swim in Kyle Akin, as some were want to do on a chilly boxing day morning. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here, all three times I stayed.
