We visited this centre, signposted as the ‘Aros Experience’ and unfortunately ours was not a good experience!
We visited at the end of July 2020 and adhered to the COVID-19 guidelines, wearing masks, one way system around the shop. We then decided to call at the cafeteria for light refreshments. On entering this section we perused the room and proceeded to sit at a clean vacant table, just as we had done at all previous cafes during our stay on Skye. The ‘waitress’ called out to me saying ‘no, you can’t sit there as it hasn’t been disinfected’. We waited until she had cleaned the table then asked if it was okay to sit down and she rather abruptly stated ‘no, go back to the door’ to which we complied albeit felt she had been quite rude and bossy and could have politely asked if we could wait at the door and then she would take us to a table. I hasten to add that there were no sign or notices informing customers of the ‘rules’.
She then joined us and we asked for a table for two and she replied that they wouldn’t have a table free until another 20-30 minutes. There were clearly tables available. We decided to leave and as we turned to go we heard the next customers being greeted with enthusiasm and familiarity then taken to a table immediately. I believe the staff need a few lessons in customer relations!
We drove up the road to another establishment and enjoyed hot drinks and delicious homemade chocolate brownies.
We were rather pleased that we hadn’t given Aros our custom after all.
