We have been going to the park for many years and staying at Skyland. We really enjoyed our stay this time. Our room was clean, warm and comfortable. Loved the valley view from our porch. Beautiful sunsets. Great service at the lodge for breakfast and dinner. The food was delicious and the wine was a perfect pairing. Really enjoyed the blackberry wine. The blackberry ice cream pie was the perfect way to end our trip.

Remember: you are there to see the park. The park is beautiful, with plenty of road-side lookouts and lots of hiking. Not surprisingly, the hotel is a place to sleep. While there is a vista view from the restaurant, almost all of the rooms we saw had great views of trees and shrubs. I believe our room was one of the older ones, so others may be much better. That said, ours was small and clean, although the mattresses had exceeded their best-before dates. If it was outside the park I would compare it to a $60/night roadside motel, but this is inside the park and the prices reflect it. That said, if visiting the park in high season I would stay at Skyland or Big Meadows because they give you a head start on the most popular hikes and drives. Visiting in low season, I would consider both, but look more seriously as hotels outside the park.

Loved our stay at Skyland Resort! The cabin was spacious, clean, and very functional. Staff were friendly and helpful. Location was perfect for hiking with numerous trails nearby. The food at the Dining Room and Tap Room was delicious - especially the Brunswick Stew!

I did not stay at the lodge here. I ate at the restaurant. The restaurant was pretty good: The server was very friendly, quick, and attentive. The restaurant has some very nice views. The food was good, hot, with good portions. There is a gift shop here that is well stocked with souvenirs and is priced similar to all of the other National Park visitor centers. They also have a Starbucks coffee shop.

Rooms are cabins. Be ready for what that means. They are not fancy but they are nicer than a camping lodge. Location is the true draw. The view is great, restaurant is good, and the hiking is close by. If you need fancy accomodations and nice bathrooms, don't stay here. Staff is generally wonderful and the grounds were very nice.

Skyland is in a beautiful location and right in the heart of Shenandoah. The food was good quality and the service in the restaurant was great. We enjoyed the entertainment on one of the nights we were there. The first room we had had a leaky roof from the torrential rain but we were immediately moved to a new room and upgraded. The upgraded room had a few more amenities and was much closer to the lodge. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating . The rooms could do with some updating and  the beds really need replaced. It was like sleeping on a camp bed.

Can’t wait to go back for more hiking and outdoor fun. Already recommended to family members who have added the park to there list of places to visit. The park is beautiful, anything you need is available close by and the staff everywhere we went were super friendly. The park was hosting an artist weekend. Offered lots of free courses for art in nature, photography, paining and lots more.

Dirty, bugs and mice! Great location. On first night thought room was basic and a bit run down especially for the price, but understand the premium for being in the park. On closer look the room was quite dirty, my stuff was covered in ladybugs after the first day, even with the windows and doors closed the whole time. Walking across the floor with white socks on left them completely brown. Not unexpected given location so didn’t complain. Every night I heard scratching sounds, I thought it was a bird in the roof. However on the last night I heard a noise as I was going to sleep and there was a mouse on my bedside table. I also found a mouse in my suitcase. Managed to chase them out through a tiny crack in the door but could still hear them running around - not a great sleep. I complained at check out and they refunded the last night without me asking. This is good but implies this is a known problem and their standard response. I’m now cleaning out mouse droppings from my suitcase. Not good enough for $200 a night
