Yelp
I'm from the neighbourhood and was happy to see a new independent coffee shop opened up. I regularly like to try new coffee shops vs. getting coffee from Starbucks, Tim's etc. I gave this place two chances - the first, a scorching hot summer day I was craving an iced coffee so I decided to try Slanted Door. Now, I should point out all their coffee comes from a machine and not the usual barista equipment I'm used to. My iced coffee was hot coffee poured over a couple ice cubes, and by the time I got outside the whole thing melted and became a lukewarm watered down coffee. I know on hot days iced coffee doesn't stay iced as long, but it usually lasts much longer than a few minutes.
I recently returned here, to give it a second chance. I got an iced latte to stay. Again, whatever machines their espresso/coffee comes out of melted the ice, and despite the fact that it was served in a glass this time instead of plastic, the ice still melted in seconds again becoming a watery lulewarm drink. I tried to give them a second chance but I was disappointed once more.
However, I have not tried their hot coffee which I'm sure would be a more pleasant experience, so I don't want to completely write them off. They have a lovely atmosphere and an art gallery downstairs which displays art from local artists. So I would recommend this place as a quiet place to do work and view art, but I would discourage anyone from ordering iced coffee and just stick to hot beverages here
