The place and service was absolutely amazing. The head chef was amazing along with all the cooks our server Haley was fast friendly and very charming. My first New Mexico meal ever and I cannot recommend it enough.

Google
Great food and an amazing atmosphere at this mid size cafe/restaurant. Lots of people hanging out in the morning and having brunch. They have good mimosa options with a full bottle and three juices costing about 25 dollars. Their breakfast options are diverse but there are not too many and they all seemed very good. I had a breakfast burrito which was well done with a good amount of red chile on top. The chocolate cupcake was also very delicious. Bathrooms were clean.

This place is near and dear to my heart so we are thrilled that dinner service is back! Zeke was an excellent bartender up in the Wine Loft and we are thrilled to hear wine tasting nights are making a comeback soon. Dinner was delish and all the food is fresh and delicious. No matter what meal you choose, Slate Street is sure to deliver!!

Servers were terrible, restaurant was slow yet servers were lost. Asked for ice water with lemon server quickly brought water but dropped them off quickly at table and walked away not to be seen for another 10min. Had to catch her at another table to ask for our lemons. Food dropped off by food runner. Everything was delicious. Server did good job of pre-bussing dropped off check. We needed change and had wanted desert to go. waited 20 min before chasing down server in back after hounding busser for help to find server. I get that they close at 2pm but stay attentive to your job for gods sake. Waited another 15 to 20 min before having to chase down server again to get the desert. Wait staff and cooks could be seen in back socializing. Very frustrating lunch. We arrived at 12:31pm did not get out till 1:52pm. Only had a soup, grill cheese w/salad and 2 bread puddings that only needed to be place in boxes majority of the time was waiting. This is the second time we’ve been there and both times service was horrible. Foods great, just order it ahead for pickup. Not worth dealing with the wait.

Google
Not your run of the mill brunch. I loved the chicken sausage on green chili biscuits. The tortillas are fresh and very good. The bacon is sweet. Serving size is good. My granddaughter had the child’s portion of French toast with fruit. This was very good too.

Found this quaint place while on vacation. Great atmosphere, service and food were over the top! Really recommend the Cobb salad and baked apple delight..Yummy doesn't cover it.

Google
Great service, from tye waiter and tye manager. Bith came around often to check on us. There were many special requests, and they all were meet. The food is done beautifully. I had the Huevos Rancheros red, nice spice and rich flavor. . We will return

Google
An absolute gem! First time I’ve been here and it was amazing! The host and servers were in great communication together! The food both looked and tasted delicious. The pomegranate mimosa was just the right amount of dry and sweet. I was skeptical that the grits and shrimp was going to be either to hard or to overcooked. Absolutely not the case! The grits were cheesy and savory the shrimp was cooked to perfection. Followed by a lemon blueberry cupcake that was dense and nicely sweet. Our server was so kind and attentive! Will return for sure!

Yelp
Never quite a reason for me to drive downtown on its own, but I'll sometimes meet people at Slate Street Cafe for lunch if we need a solid and fast place in the area. The food is reliably good - not great. Good ingredients and tasty: you aren't going to be unhappy but the chow somehow never ever hits the "I can't wait to come back!" level for me. Part of that might be that portions are not particularly large - yet the prices are reliably at the warm end of things. Service is reliably good - although not warm. The room is attractive - but stacks of patio chairs stored in the hallway don't bring an upscale vibe. The owner knows her wine - this is a solid place for that. For me Slate Street teeters between "Okay" and "Good" . . . let's go with "good" in this review.

Yelp
It had been entirely too long since having been here and I'm so glad to see that it's still around. It is as awesome as I remember. We stopped in for a weekday lunch when we were in the area and it was busy but not overly so. There was a nice off street parking lot which was nice as well. Hubby had the fish & chips (so glad they still have them which is what made love this place 10+ years ago!) and I had the egg sandwich with green chile chicken sausage which was sooooo good. Our waitress was fantastic, the prices were pretty reasonable ($5 mimosas too!) and just an overall great place for comfort food. So glad that we stopped by- it had been way too long.

Yelp
The inside is so aesthetic! Staff were friendly! Food was AMAZING. Definitely coming back for the all day breakfast. Highly recommend. None of those food chains could compare to this food it tasted genuine including the eggs.

Yelp
Solid breakfast with a wee bit high prices, but I guess that is the new norm. There wasn't anything I took a bite of that made me say "Omg - I would crave this again", but the atmosphere was very cute. I really liked the colors and set up of the restaurant. The food was not very memorable, but it was good.
google avatar

Carlos O.

Yelp
Outstanding customer service, great environment and overall good experience however, the food was just okay for me. I had an omelette and it was good, don't get me wrong. It was just nothing to brag about or to make me want to come back and try something new on the menu. I don't like being super critical if I haven't tried at least three things on the menu so I'm not saying it's bad by any means, I just didn't have anything that was outstanding or exceptional with the meal, I still gave four stars for the incredible staff and overall dining experience.

Yelp
If you're looking for a brunch spot that offers the perfect blend of atmosphere, service, and incredible food, look no further....Slate Street is absolutely incredible! We grabbed brunch here last Saturday around noon and could not get over the immense flavor packed into every bite. Don't miss the banana bread as a starter...it's slightly grilled and paired with whipped butter, simply divine!

Yelp
Found this little place for a late breakfast after a walk through the rail yards with a friend. I ordered a grilled cheese with apricot chutney with no onions. Unfortunately the chutney had onions and I had to send it back. They were very kind about. Had just a grilled cheese on sourdough. It was good. I'll come back and try something different. It's super cute, loved the colors and the staff was super friendly. They have the shew fly fans which I appreciate. Nice indoor and outdoor seating.

Yelp
First time at the Slate Street cafe and unfortunately I was not impressed. The place is nice, big, and cozy. The service was quite friendly, always with a smile and time to answer questions. I ordered the huevos rancheros. My partner ordered the Dutch oven pancake (not pictured). The pancake was dense, thick, and perfectly sweet. No complaints. However, the huevos rancheros were a big let down. Even though the green and red were fine, the rest of the dish fell flat with thin, soggy, flavorless corn tortillas and very simple hash browns. Overall, I'd say that the sweets may be better than the savory. Even though the ambiance and service are nice, the food did not convince me to return.

Yelp
What, a carnivore eating a zucchini-black bean burger!? Wife and I rarely needed much of a lunch after the AYCE breakfast buffets at the Hilton downtown Albuquerque. Came here after getting up at 4am for the Balloon Fiesta. Located in a residential area, just beyond blocks of law offices in downtown Albuquerque. Would not have found it unless looking for it. Large cathedral ceilings, two level restaurant, which included a loft. Bright, with large windows, airy and clean. My $15 veggie burger patty was made of zucchini and black beans. Flavor came with spread of cheddar, delicious corn relish, avocado, and green chile mayo. Had to eat it with a fork and knife, as the patty fell apart in my hands, a common drawback of veggie burgers. Tasty enough to satisfy a carnivore. French fries on the side, which would have tasted better unsalted, but firm and on the thin side, and flavorful. Wife had the $8 green chile stew with chicken and tortilla chip strips. Meal tasted just the way she fondly remembered after living 18 years in Santa Fe. Not often I write about burgers, let alone veggie burgers, probably the first this decade.

Yelp
The food was not very good as a matter of fact, we waited so long by the time we received our food it was cold. It was truly disappointing. The ambience was nice clean.

Yelp
Red and green chili 4/5 pretty spicy. Chicken fried steak hand breaded thick was delicious. The gravy was good too.

Yelp
Went to slate street cafe for the first time. Our waitress Violet was amazing. We were seated right away, but our food however took a really long time to come out. We ordered the apple fritters to start. At first glance, they looked amazing. Each one is baseball sized. I cut one open and we shared one, because they were on the large size. They were light and fluffy and not to sweet. However, they were missing one main ingredient to be called an apple fritter and that was the apple. I was a little disappointed in them. The fritter itself tasted delicious but I expected to taste pieces of apple. I ordered the fish and chips and my husband ordered the salmon club. His dish was very tasty and well seasoned and a nice unique idea. My dish was really greasy and a little on the breaded side. It seems I got more bread than fish. The chips lacked salt coming out of the fryer, but I liked the bag idea. It reminded me of something authentic. Overall a good experience with the restaurant. Our waitress Violet was the most impressive part of our visit. She was on top of everything and very apologetic about the delay of our food.

Yelp
A nice place to meet for breakfast. Great menu and service is exceptional. Definitely worth a try.

Yelp
Well it was a very busy day at slate street and our waitstaff hustled and was amazing however that's the best I can say. I got the fried chicken and waffles, I did not come to a restaurant to eat Tyson breaded chicken strips, my waffles were so cold the butter was still solid and never melted. My son got the french toast and it was a soggy mess with barely cooked insides. Our waitress suggested an appetiser as there was a super long wait for food, I don't have a problem with that, it's mother's day I get it. The Queso and chips...... again didn't go out to eat velveeta!!! Despite having a reservation made several weeks ago we were giving no option but to sit outside, it was cold and they have no heating, we all sat with our jackets on! Not the experience and quality of food I expect.

Yelp
A cute, inviting space with indoor and outdoor seating under a covered patio. SSC has counter-booth seating, large booths, tables, and outdoor seating on a covered patio. There's street parking available that's free on the weekends. I was visiting SSC for brunch on a Saturday and found street parking right out front, and was sat immediately without a wait. SSC offers iced coffee, which is nice as some brunch spots don't. The service was friendly and checked on us through the meal. I had SSC's fried egg sandwich for $13, which comes with white cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, and a fried egg over-hard on ciabatta. I added green chile to the sandwich. White cheddar hash browns come with the meal on the side. The sandwich was good, and I enjoyed the heat of the chile and the crispy bacon. Unfortunately the hash browns were so salty I almost couldn't eat them. Since I had the hash browns first, the sandwich initially didn't seem to have much taste compared to the salt bomb I just finished. I'm glad that dissipated and I ended up enjoying the sandwich. I like SSC's environment, service, and vibe. I also enjoyed the sandwich. I'm hoping the hash browns were a one-off, and I'm interested in trying SSC again at some point.

Yelp
To contextualize - it is Mother's Day. It is very busy but despite my patience, the food was severely disappointing. The chicken was practically fast food caliber. You could likely get the same chicken at Sonic. The waffles were disrespectfully dry. Not even the syrup could revive the grains. I can't speak for the rest of my party, some of them were satisfied, but I will never return. We were also waiting so long that I had time to get 3 mimosa's... (approx. 1 hour from ordering to table)

Yelp
It's a beautiful open seating cafe near downtown. Great for mimosas and bloody Mary's. The food here was good but lacked some seasoning. I had the French dip sandwich, cup of soup and a Bloody Mary. The French dip was warm and cooked well on a nice baguette. The meat was very bland and the au jus was plain as well. The creamy calabacitas soup was very rich and flavorful. The Bloody Mary was delicious and well made from their in house mix. The service was very slow and inattentive even though there weren't many customers in the restaurant.

Yelp
I was really excited to return to Slate Street Cafe since I had such a good experience before. This time, I opted for one of the specials, the Antipasto Omelet, a Maple Cinnamon Latte, and a Green Chile Cheddar Biscuit. Absolutely every bite/sip was enjoyable. My companion had another special, the Butternut Squash Salad. It must have been great because it was all gone at the end of the meal. The service was great...a nice mix of checking in and also leaving us to our conversation. Parking was easy (on the street right across from the restaurant). Their patio is the best! Covered on top but open on the sides for nice breezes while you munch. This place is quickly becoming one of my favorites for brunch. I really hope you will give this place a chance. They have great food and wonderful service. It's also nice to see that many months, they are still consistently good in all areas. Definitely pop in for a quick bite or a leisurely brunch!

Yelp
Literally stuck on the toilet in the stall in the men's restroom right now. There's no toilet paper. My boyfriend is helping me find some but omg this is so embarrassing and unnecessary. Keep and eye on your supply levels plz.

Yelp
Arriving about 10 AM, there was no line and the host was able to accommodate my party of 7 without hesitation! Upon entering the establishment it's very appealing and the ambiance is very modern and fresh! The layout is big and they have an upstairs seating area too. Upstairs they have a bar and all their awards on display. The food is great and lives up to other reviews regarding taste. As time went on it got busy. We waited about 45 minutes to get served but it was a pleasant wait. Will return during the week :)

Yelp
(4) ~ very good overall brunch & service. Note: They have a small parking lot next door, or street parking. DRINKS: ** Water (tap) = (4.25) Very good, must be filtered;) ** Orange Juice (small) = (4) very good, but tasted from carto than fresh squeezed... ** Coffee = (4) very solid FOOD: ** Sausage Sliders = (4.25) Very tasty, added two sunny eggs; avocado; & green chile sauce ** Dutch Oven Pancake = (4) very shareable, but too thick. We did like the berry compote though;) * Blueberry Lemon Cupcake = (3.75) Good, but I like when cupcakes have fillings;)

Yelp
This place is so good I had to go back again today. When we first walked in there is a hostess, she was sweet and gave us the option of the bar or a table. We chose the bar since we wouldn't have to wait. Violet was our server and she was so sweet. She was patient with us while we looked over the menu. I got the steak and eggs. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking. The mimosas were good and affordable. A friend recommended this place and I want to go again tomorrow but I have to slow down lol.

Yelp
We were nervous about parking when it said it was in the downtown area, but they had a parking lot and street parking so that was a relief! I ordered maple cinnamon latte and Dutch Oven Pancake. They were both very good. The pancake itself was not very sweet but the compote was, so they paired well with each other! We also shared the banana bread and the apple fritters and they were amazing! The server was great! Helpful and friendly :) I was surprised how clean and beautiful the inside was as well! Would love to come again!

Yelp
Amazing food with excellent service in a restaurant with great ambiance. Our most recent visit was for brunch. They have quite the extensive menu with so much to choose from that looked so amazing that we took a while to settle on what we felt like eating that day. The variety of types of food was surprising, but clearly done well. We both thoroughly enjoyed what we settled on and will definitely be back when the opportunity arises.

Yelp
LMO = ladies morning out for champagne brunch! Get there early or make reservations if you must to dine on the patio. It's a small space, but quite a loud crowd; since everyone chats - good times! Champagne was the attraction factor for us. The grubs were just some fillers; as we had a day planned ahead for more wine tasting. If you plan on doing the same, welcome yourselves to start your leisurely day out at Slate Street Cafe. Do enjoy the outdoor seating!
google avatar

Anna W.

Yelp
Food was very good. We each finished our plates. Server was very friendly and engaging. We also ordered apple fritters which were good but one could easily be shared by 3 people if you don't have a sweet tooth. Exceeded our expectations. We even considered adding it to our venue possibilities for a private event we are planning but the hostess was a bit rude at the end when we were discussing it with our server, hence the 4 stars and not 5.
google avatar

Daniel W.

Yelp
A solid choice tucked away downtown for lunch or brunch. I would recommend an omelet or dutch pancake for breakfast, but steer clear of the French toast unless you are looking for something very, very sweet. Parking is scarce, as this is a residential street, so diners with large vehicles may want to park a few blocks away and walk.

Yelp
After finishing the Safari Fun Run, friends and I decided we earned a good brunch! Slate Street has amazing food, so off we went! We were seated immediately and our drink order was quickly taken. Mimosas and a cup of Joe. Drinks were served and I could not resist ordering what my friends ordered. The coffee looked amazing and believe me when I say it was!!!! We each ordered the Katie breakfast and each ordered our eggs to our liking. All with red chili and bacon instead of ham. Plenty of time between our mimosas and coffee as we caught up on life since the pandemic. Breakfast was served and did not disappoint! My eggs were cooked to perfection and the red chili was the perfect Fall weather topping. Nothing left on my plate. I think we all ate up with no guilt. We finished up as the waitress brought over apple fritters to the table next to us. ..... Looks like I'll be making another trip back!

Yelp
Third time at Slate Street and still a pretty great experience. We tried a few new dishes this time around. The french toast was surprisingly delectable (surprising because they use baguette for their bread). The shrimp creole according to the husband's reports was delicious. However, I felt the portion could be a little bit more. My mac and cheese was as usual very delicious too. The biscuit wasn't up my alley. I wish I had gotten the banana bread instead but I'm glad I tried it! We didn't get to taste the apple fritters even though we ordered them.. they were very busy but it was a little sad to see neighboring tables get them while we were unfortunately forgotten. From what we saw, they were very well received. Maybe we will get to taste them next time! Recommend this brunch experience!

Yelp
Stopped by for breakfast at 1pm on Wednesday and were seated immediately. The inside is bright and clean without a clear theme but cozy enough. Our food came out quickly and we dug in. My "Katie's eggs" were delicious! All the ingredients tasted fresh and the red sauce had just the right spicy kick. The BF's Huevos Rancheros were equally yummy with perfectly cooked over easy eggs. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Back in ABQ for Mother's Day We were fortunate to go to Slate Street The hostess was so sweet, so the brunch started off on a very positive note! The weather was beautiful so we sat outside Delicious drinks Delicious food! I would definitely visit again

Abigail B.

Yelp
Service was good, but my food was overpriced and not very good. I got the soup of the day (a tomato corn chowder) and a grilled cheese (cheddar with apricot chutney). The soup was cold so I asked for it to be replaced and the replacement was better but not much, definitely not hot. The grilled cheese was good but nothing to write home about, and not very warm either. A hot herbal tea was 4.50 and a small latte was 5 which seems a little expensive but not terrible. Outside seating and parking was nice, and the ambiance was bright and airy inside. I don't think I'll be back.

Yelp
Went to wine tasting last night. Bubbly was the varietal this week. Enjoyed the selections along with the appetizer of baked Brie with cranberry compote, green apple slices and baguette. Only suggestion I would have for the appetizer is I think I would have enjoyed it more had my baguette been toasted. Was then shared a spinach salad and tempura honey jalapeño chicken. The best past of the tempura Dish was the jalapeño. Finished up splitting a cupcake. Good food and service. We really enjoy the wine tastings Thursday evenings.

Yelp
Their brunch options are 10/10. The food is good no doubt but I did feel like it was just a little over priced. The whole building and vibe was great very welcoming. I did give them 4 out of 5 was just because I left the wait was pretty long, and when we sat down it felt rushed to make sure the next people waiting were served. The pricing as I said before but I would definitely recommend this place. And I can't wait to go back again.

Lisa K.

Yelp
My husband and I dined at Slate Street Cafe for breakfast. We both got an omelet which were very tasty and fresh with ample portions. The server was very friendly and attentive to us. It was our first trip to New Mexico and he reminded us to drink plenty of water because of the altitude. The atmosphere was clean and inviting, nice music playing in the background. We opted to eat inside but the patio looked nice too as the weather was very pleasant. Great spot and highly recommend!

Yelp
Looking for someplace new for breakfast. Reviews looked good so a few minutes later here we are. Surprisingly it's located in the middle of a residential neighborhood. Quickly seated and given menus we tried to decide what to eat. The menu was loaded with items that sounded good. I settled on the Dutch Oven Pancake. It came with loaded with compote. It wasn't what I had envisioned - it was better! You could taste the egg and between the pancake & compote it was delicious. We also got the sausage sliders with 2 eggs on top. It came with chipotle gravy. The combination was equally delicious. There was green chile in the biscuits. It gave them a great taste with a little kick at the end of each bite. In addition to our server checking in frequently the manager was also present and came by our table often. So great food & great service meant many return trips. This one is definitely worth looking up.

Anita T.

Yelp
Excellent food, great service! Perhaps the best huevos rancheros ever. Crab cake special was indeed special!

Jorge S.

Yelp
The food is good, but the portion is a bit light. I should have had 2 eggs that looked like one egg divided into my sliders. Most of all, I came to get online and do some work, and the gentleman with glasses that seemed like an assistant manager was tactless. I indicated it should be a service that's offered with the price of their food. He looked at me and went on his way. Lol whateva, I'll probably stop coming here.
google avatar

Tiffany M.

Yelp
This hidden gem (is it a hidden gem?!) is one for the books! Green chile turkey sliders on green chile cheese biscuits with poached eggs and a cup of coffee. Stop reading and go order that exact thing! Vibe is cool too and the staff is always friendly and honest!

Yelp
Loved having brunch here with my friends!! It was a beautiful day to sit on the patio. Our food was bomb. I had Katie's eggs with both red and green chili and there was so much flavor in every bite. I highly recommend the mimosa bucket. We got to try the orange, grapefruit, pomegranate, and prickly pear juices. Staff was very sweet and attentive as well.

Claudia P.

Yelp
Came here on our last day in Albuquerque and the food was very good. My husband and I had the Country fresh Eggs, I asked for the turkey sausage and it was very tasty. My husband also got the apple fritters which he said were amazing and ate one before I could get the pic of all three on the plate, they are quite big. I had the banana bread and that did not disappoint, it's the best I've had. The restaurant is very clean and service was excellent. Highly recommend coming here for breakfast. The rest of the menu had good selections.

Yelp
Dined here many times in the past, prior to my Yelp-ing i guess, my first Slate review so here goes Sunday morning and wife decides Slate Street is our breakfast destination, know I've not been here in awhile but nice, shady downtown backstreet is welcoming us for breakfast Quick to get in and sat down, coffee and Cappuccino are life saving. Nice to see the bar is open yet a bit early for us I had super simple ham and eggs yet Slate took it up a level with a double thick ham slab, toasted hash browns and a green chile biscuit at my request...outstanding Mrs had dutch oven pancake smothered with berry compote, another winner Great service and best meal out in awhile. Worthy of frequent visits ------------- 2/22/20 Breakfast today at Slate, almost got here too early, arrived at 9:00 as they opened the doors ! Wife's huge portion of french toast and my steak and eggs went down fine Really enjoy our quiet breakfast here

Monica F.

Yelp
Hosted a bridal show at Slate Street Cafe yesterday for 35 women in the Wine Loft. it was PERFECT! The food, ambience and service were all spectacular. everyone was so complimentary. The staff is super easy to work with. i highly recommend this place for just about anything. They cater too. thanks Myra Ghattas

Yelp
We visited over the holidays and we had such a wonderful experience. The service was top notch! I had the steak and eggs with a side of red chili, the steak was cooked to perfection. Other guests had the Huevos rancheros and veggie omelette and both recieved high praises!! We went on a week day so it was nice, cozy and quiet - I can imagine it being packed and noisy during the weekend tho. Will definitely visit again!
google avatar

Devry A.

Yelp
We've been twice... first time I customized an omelette with cheese and the green chili turkey sausage and gluten free bread... it was 5 stars!! The next time we went they were "out" of the green chili sausage which is the main reason we came... we even brought more people bragging about how great it was... Because of the inconsistency I dropped the review to 4 stars. Outside dining area is wonderful! On our second visit I got a turkey sandwich on gluten free bread. The turkey was bland and very forgettable... if they'd change the turkey to something with flavor it would have been great. Fries, house made chips and queso are all very good... We will be going back and fingers crossed they have the green chili turkey sausage!!

Yelp
Food was amazing! And the iced latte was also delicious! Service was great as well! Such a great little place and vibe!

Yelp
This was my first time here after being told how great this place was. They have reserved parking outside and nice inside and outside dining. But what's impressive is the white glove service they give you! The go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy the service and food. Now I'm a serious food critic so I will say that the food didn't blow me away but it was good. Good enough for me to say I will come back. I'm very curious to know how this stuffed pancake tastes! They only make it on the weekends so don't try to get it any other time.

Ebony B.

Yelp
LOVE this place! The food is always delicious and the servers are really friendly. The restaurant has a very welcoming environment as well.

John T.

Yelp
The huevos rancheros are pretty good, and their cupcakes are a nice treat after the main course. Parking is a little spare because it is in an older part of town. Sitting in the back room by the kitchen can be a little distracting, but the restaurant has a nice vibe. Our server was good, but they were really busy so we had more empty glasses than we would have had if they had been slower. No complaints, and I would return.
