Full-disclosure: I'm a pizza connoisseur. That being said, Slices is not a bad restaurant. It has really fantastic desserts and a variety of milkshakes and bubble teas. And milkshakes are HARD to come by in Japan.
On to the Pizza, and this may not win me friends with the foreign community, but Slices is simply not good. I've been to Slices many, many times because it's a convenient, easy place to meet up with friends, equidistant from Namba and Shinsaibashi stations. So, this is not an isolated case, it's just their recipe.
To me (and anyone that knows pizza), there's two key points: dough and sauce. Anyone can throw cheese and toppings on a pie, and have a tasty treat. Only a pro can make a pizza that makes you grunt and "oooooohhhhhhhhh" with every bite.
Slices....is not the later.
Slices dough is not that bad, but their sauce, to this American is not acceptable. There is no spice, no tang, no kick. It's like someone just poured plain tomato paste/sauce all over the dough. This results in a pizza whose only flavor is the toppings.
And for 5 bucks a slice.....It's all regret for me.
To be fair, everything else I've had at Slices has been A-Ok. But.....I gotta be harsh, because the name of the place is "Slices", and with that being the case, you gotta come with your A-game on your restaurant's namesake. Sorry.
Quaint place, people are generally friendly, but I wouldn't say over the top, like other reviewers. Maybe it's the Canadian side coming out. I kid, I kid, my Canadian friends!
Try Slices out, but know that you can get a better "Slice" at Costco.
