Booked as a final 3 days of a 9 day Scotland trip, intended as a treat and a highlight to round off the holiday. ||The main positive is the stunning location, with many other key places being in reasonable reach and the excellent Seamas’ Bar. I have used the bar previously when I wasn’t a resident and although expensive for what it is, the choice of food and drinks left me with no complaints.||In terms of the accommodation, the bed was comfortable and the room as a whole was clean, however the carpet was damp, presumably from a recent deep clean. Furnishings and facilities were basic, with a television, a table providing an array of warm drink options and a hanging rail for clothing. ||The bathroom was pretty tired, with old sanitary ware, which was cracked and mouldy in places. It’s probably not a worthy investment to modernise and tidy up with such a prime location that is guaranteed to get the custom.||A minor issue and partly my error for not hanging a ‘do not disturb’ sign. Housekeeping started unlocking my room door, without knocking when I was in a state of undress. Fortunately, I alerted them, before an awkward and embarrassing situation ensued. Don’t make the same mistake I did. ||In conclusion, this was a great disappointment. I paid £134 a night for the room only, which was significantly cheaper than most of the room options, having booked it in advance on a non-refundable discounted deal. It is hugely overpriced for the standard of the accommodation and clearly capitalises on the pull of the location alone. ||I will probably return to Seamas’ Bar on my next visit to Isle of Skye but I will never part with such a significant amount of money again for an accommodation of this standard. Lesson learned.

Really just incredible stay. Room was prepared with romance, clean bathroom, comp snacks. The restaurant bar in the evening gave us so much care and warmth regarding our engagement. Marathi was so sweet on the phone and when we arrived, as were the rest of the staff. A perfect place to start and end our trip to the Fairy Pools. Mountain outline just extraordinary.

We stayed here for three nights and this was easily one of the best hotels we had stayed in. This was not due to the facilities, but due to the staff. All were so friendly and helpful, with nothing too much trouble. The food next door in the hotels public bar (Seumas bar) was good, honest pub grub. But where it really shines is the amount of whisky offered. The location of the hotel is nice and central, with walks through the Cullins on the hotels doorstep. While the hotel plays on its history, with a room turned into a small museum dedicated to the history of the hotel.

rooms and breakfast were good, but the best thing about this hotel were the people. Everybody was so nice, especially the sir with the white hair. He was so accommodating and kind. Helped us searching for our car keys as if they were his. His help was so appreciated and he didn’t make a big fuss about anything we asked for. Would absolutely go again!

Google
Overpriced for what it is. We thought we’d treat ourselves to a nice hotel but the photos online were far nicer than reality. The food in the bar next door was very good, however, also extremely pricey and there was only one choice as it was a Sunday. By far the most expensive stay yet in Scotland and you’re clearly paying for the location. Not worth it in our opinion.

Just had a lovely 2 day stay here. Staff were just lovely, breakfast was delicious. Everything freshly cooked so no dried out eggs and bacon here! Would definitely recommend the hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful island.

Seumas Bar is where it’s at. Best sunday roast by the fire with a whiskey in hand doesn’t get much better than that. Best way to end a day of sightseeing. Cant wait to come back.

Honestly this might be the worst hotel we've ever stayed in. Firstly, the hotel restaurant, the only restaurant in town, cancelled our reservation the day before we were set to arrive. No reason was given; just an unspecified closure. Disappointing, but we figured we'd just eat at the pub. We arrived at 3:30pm when check in begins at 3. Our room wasn't ready, even though check out is at 10am. We sat for a while and were finally let into our room which reeked of cleaning supplies. Also, the bed had sharp springs digging into our backs. We escaped to the pub for dinner only to be told they were only serving roast. If your restaurant is closed, your pub shouldn't sell just one dish that not everyone can eat. Plus, the two beers we purchased were very warm. The parking at the hotel is a nightmare, so it wasn't worth risking the 35 minute drive to find parking and a place to eat in Portree only to not get parking when we returned. We did what we could with the few provisions we already had, but the tea mugs at the hotel are probably the smallest mugs money can buy. As our priciest stay in the whole of Scotland, we at least expected to be let into our room on time and to have the food available to us that had been promised not only on the website, but in multiple emails from the hotel. Just stay in Portree. To stay here is to be disappointed and hungry.

Yelp
We were at the restaurant. Service was great. Meal was average. Think there are better places in the area.

Yelp
My husband and I were traveling around Scotland doing the NC500, we decided to spend a day and a half of our trip on the Isle of Skye. After a long day of travel, we were excited to arrive at the hotel and had completed pre-checkout to let them know what time we were arriving. Once we arrived the woman at the front desk gave us a key to a room on the main floor, we walked over to the room to find a key still in the door handle and as we pushed the door open it was still a mess from the guests before. We went back to the front desk to let her know, and she said that she'd try to find housekeeping to take care of it. While waiting for them to take care of our room we decided to go hike the Storr and were gone for about 2-3 hours. Once we returned we checked back in with a different member of the staff, and were sent to a room upstairs instead. After going upstairs and checking out the room, it appeared to be smaller than the room we originally saw. We decided to go downstairs and double-check that we were placed in the right room, she said that they didn't have time to clean the original room and assured us that we were in the same type of room. For context, we had booked a Superior Family and I'm pretty sure we ended up in a Deluxe King that had a sofa bed shoved into it. The room looked nice at first, but we began to notice that the floor felt uneven, the tiles in the bathroom were cracked, and the window was left cracked open (we visited in October, so it wasn't really the weather to leave a window open). It felt like an old hotel that had received a low-quality facelift to appear more modern than it actually was. We decided to go down to the hotel restaurant for dinner, it had minimal options. I had the vegetable curry which was good, and my husband had a burger. The burger tasted a little off, but we couldn't quite pinpoint why. It was tough, overcooked and chewy. For the price of the food we were expecting better quality. After dinner we decided to walk down to Seumas' Bar for a drink, on our way we ran into a couple in the lobby who was trying to track down a member of the staff because their room was unbearably hot. When we made it to the bar/restaurant, we came to realize that the hotel, brewery and bar were all connected, all had the same food coming from the same kitchen and the numerous members of staff were moving throughout the three. The following morning we woke up to no running water, the entire hotel's water was out and when we asked about it all they said was that they 'were working on it'. We decided to head down for our included breakfast, both my husband and I ordered French toast with a side of sausage. The French toast was 1 piece of bread sliced in half (a thin piece of multigrain bread) and then 1 piece of sausage. Compared to many of the other included breakfasts we had experienced on our trip, this one was the worst. After our very quick breakfast, we ran back upstairs to leave, and just as we were rolling our suitcases out the door the water finally came back on. Overall this is not worth the money, I'd recommend staying elsewhere.

Yelp
Had a lovely vegetarian sunday roast at Sligachan Hotel, in it's cozy but friendly pub area where both tourists and locals gather. They even specially made vegetarian gravy for me. Great staff, well priced and delicious food, and great atmosphere too!

Yelp
Where to start... this hotel is not only in the best location in Skye the staff are incredible. It is only 20 mins across the bridge to Skye and the ideal location to explore all sides of the island from. From the moment we arrived we were greeted with welcoming smiles and given keys to a room with to die for. The views over the Cuillins is breathtaking, you feel you have walked on to a film set. A joy to wake up to and watch the sunset from each day. Many people stay elsewhere and drive to walk these hills - if you are at Sligachan these are on your doorstep! Getting around all the highlights of the island is easy from this hotel too and if you need travel advice or suggestions the super helpful staff at the hotel will happily give top tips of where to go and what to see. We got a few 'local insights' to quite beaches we wouldn't have found without these suggestions. The food was incredible, making it hard to eat anywhere else at night. There are two options Seamus' Bar and the main restaurant in the hotel. Both are delicious with great vibes and well stocked bars! Definitely try the Misty Isle Gin and Cuillin beers (brewed on site!). The rooms are beautiful, a Scottish high end finish and super homely! This hotel is a MUST for making any trip to Skye a huge success.

Yelp
The Sligachan Hotel may possibly be the finest hotel I've stayed in. For those with a penchant for the highlands it is a truly splendid affair. Situated twixt the opening salvo of Broadford and the quayside idyll of Portree as one drives over the once controversial bridge from Kyle and the mainland, it must be highly recommended for its stunning location, excellent rooms and quality service. The building itself comprises several complimentary sections: the hotel and accommodation wings, a minor museum dedicated to the hotel's history and the legacy of its contribution to the conquering of the Black Cuillins behind it, the restaurant and residents' lounge, the Cuillin Brewery and Seamus' Bar. Within the grounds are well kept gardens beneath the auspices of shady trees and a play area incorporating a zip-slide. For Under-16's. ONLY. With its whitewashed turrets and slate-grey roofs beaming beneath the famous teeth of the Cuillin ridge, the Sligachan Hotel presents itself as a homely, more modest version of a Bavarian castle. And indeed, for the most part of our stay, the Hotel played host to coach-loads of German tourists. It's a place for reaching beyond. For exceeding one's limits with a smile on one's upturned sun-kissed cheeks. Everywhere one looks there is evidence of super-human feats - from the setting of the record for a running ascent and descent of the mighty Glamaig, towering imperiously above the hotel to the west, to seemingly impossibly feats of a complete traverse of the Black Cuillin ridge in under four hours. The Sligachan Hotel has seen it all and it's hard not to feel inspired. Our room was exceedingly spacious and well furnished, replete with all the modern comforts - separate shower and bath, TV/DVD player and fine views. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful on a variety of topics. We procured wine glasses and bottle stopper for our room, made good use of the drying facilities after a wet return from Blaven and discovered that the hotel is well stocked with 1:25 000 maps of the Cuillins too. Breakfast was superb including the full range of options you might expect in the highlands with the exception of smoked kippers, which was disappointing. Restaurant prices are high - so be warned. We spurned the restaurant in favour of eating frequently at Seamus' bar next door. Seamus's bar is a homely and well-kept tavern with a good range of Cuillin beers from the on-site brewery (although they were a bit watery for my taste) and other guest ales too - though sadly there were no representatives from the superb Skye Brewing Company. The bar itself boast single malts in the hundreds and seems to stock the full range. They make a mesmerising and tempting array behind the bar itself. The food was good and good value, but as with many other eateries on Skye, with just a little more effort it could be great. I would recommend the Cullen Skink for starters. They provide distinct day time and evening menus covering a good traditional Scottish cuisine and modern dishes too such lamb tagine with couscous, for example. Pudding portions are plentiful and traditional. We discovered that from within Seamus' Bar, it is possible to spend an entire evening staring solidly at those formiddable Black Cuillin peaks. Who needs television? WARNING: as with anywhere on Skye - watch out for the midges. They are ferocious!

Yelp
We really liked the food here! This is our second time back this week. Both times after a really long and difficult hike in the rain. The fish and chips and marinated pork are so delicious!!!

Yelp
Lovely hotel. Nice atmosphere in the bar. Very spacious. Staff are friendly and proffesional Very child friendly and a playpark over the drive ;o) Superb location for touring the island or walking/climbing. You can get dropped/picked up here on the buses from Glasgow and Inverness. Nice place for a spot of lunch and a few drinks. The backdrop to the hotel is spectacular. Wherever you head to in skye you'll pass this hotel, you cant miss it! x

Yelp
Great hotel - what Skye's all about. This hotel is right alongside the famous pack horse bridge that seems to appear on every advert for Skye. The views all round are incredible (Weather depending) and any outdoorsy type person will relish the position of the Hotel at the foothills of the Cuillins. The locals sit outside and laugh at all the walkers heading off with Compass' round their necks! (type Gabbro into Google if you're not sure why!) If you gancy a stroll, try and run from the hotel up to the top of Glamaig and back in under 45 mins - if you do you'll be a record breaker! (Glamaig is the cone shaped mountain next to the Loch). Or you could do it barefoot and try and beat the 55min record by a ghurka in the late 1880's!!!

Yelp
This is a great spot as a starting point for hikers and mountain climbers and it's a historic location . It's a bit pricey for the accommodations compared with everywhere else we stayed on our Scotland vacation, maybe because of the remote location. The wifi rarely worked, the staff was very nice, the brewery next door is a huge bonus.

Yelp
The Sligachan hotel is one of my favourite places in the world and I have spent many an hour here whiling away the evenings (and afternoons!). They now have their own brewery called the Cuillin Brewery (I think) that has 3 or 4 brands all of which are highly drinkable. The food has always been first rate and is probably better than you would expect from a pub on Skye! Walking in after 8 hours on and around the Ridge is an unparalleled experience and I urge everyone to get up there. But the ridge is a very serious place and should not be taken lightly, I only go up with my dad because he has 40 years of experience!

Yelp
Great food, great beer, great views - what more do I need to say? The location is stunning - right in the heart of the Cuillins. Campsite and hotel, with bar food and good beer brewed on the premises. It can get very busy in the summer, but the service is still good and reasonably quick (very important if you have kids). The campsite associated with the hotel can be quite 'midgy' but then again where in Scotland can't be in summer? - but you can spend the evening in the bar avoiding the midgies and partaking of a few local beers or whiskies. Mmmm.

Yelp
Superb location on the bend of the A87 road, with a stunning backdrop of the Cuillin. The Glasgow & Inverness to Uig Citylink buses stop here. Nice place for a spot of lunch and a few drinks, or stay for a few days at the campsite over the road, which is also excellent. The food and ale is excellent, and tastes even better after a full day of walking. Monty Hall's great escape featured the hotel when he took part in the Glamaig run.
