First lesson if you are a foreigner: if you want to book THE place you want in Gotland... you have to do it early. When we tried in March to book for August, the places we wanted were already full, so we were very happy to find place at Strandby in Slite. ||||What we found:||- the place is 1200m from a BIG cement plant (see picture), which you just cannot avoid seeing wherever you are in the resort. More than this, this plant seems to little comply with the EU regulations in terms of dust emissions looking at what they throw into the air... ||- there are some 100 / 110 bungalows, each distant from the other one by some 3-4 meters; when peeing in the toilets my face was to look by the window at the neighbour taking his breakfast (or dinner etc)... and vice versa. Embarassing. ||It all creates an atmosphere closer to a poor camping place, than a resort where you pay your bungalow some 200€ the night. I should have known, when I was asked to prepay the whole cost of the stay... more than one month before arriving.||||To add to the charm, the young staff forgot our breakfast on the first day... and could not arrange it anymore, the kitchen being not here, or open. We had to wait for 10am for a coffee in the city to open. ||||The cleanliness of the pool (which has a nice size, and has warmed water) was average.||||On a positive side, for sure you have access to mini golf, kayacks, bikes, sauna, etc... so, if you are found of camping atmosphere surrounded by people, you might like it. Beware yet the bungalow you chose: very few have a real view on the sea...||||Inside, the bungalows are clean, functional, good design.
