Slottshotellet Kalmar

Surprisingly quiet as the room faces the restaurant which is open almost all day. Wonderful buffet breakfast with excellent quality and selection. The staff so kind and pleasant- especially lovely kind woman who allowed us to store our luggage while we did sightseeing on our last day and the kind young man on nights who let me indulge in my early morning caffeine addiction at 5.30-6 o’clock. It reinforces my opinion about the importance of having good receptionists as people interactions are so important to visitors.

Fantastic location near the castle (obviously). Really relaxed vibe in the evening with the outdoor bar. Incredibly friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent.

Lovely hotel on the south side of Kalmar, just outside the city centre. Very close to the Kalmar castle. If you continue a bit further to the south you will find hiking/cycling paths that will lead you to small beaches and harbours. The hotel itself has a beautiful old charm. The rooms are nicely decorated and well-maintained. The staff had been very welcoming and friendly. Breakfast buffet offers a wide variety and everyone will find something to their liking.

The room is on the second floor but no elevator . The breakfast is good!

A lovely cozy hotel near the castle, in the centre of town, but in a quiet place. Moderate prices. Delicious breakfast buffet! Only positive impressions

We stayed here just one night as we wanted to see the Kalmar Castle, just a short stroll away. We had no idea how beautiful the nearby grounds and walk to the castle would be from this location. The front desk staff was amazing and SO accommodating. There is a restaurant patio in the hotel courtyard, which was a abuzz and happening on a Tuesday night! We had dinner there and it was delicious, as was the morning breakfast buffet (included with the room.) The room was a little dated in the décor (junior suite), but otherwise was well-appointed, with lots of nice bath products, tea, a Nespresso coffeemaker in the room, bar glasses, etc. Bathroom was small, but typical of lots of retrofitted European hotels. Would highly recommend this hotel!

Good location, walking distance to the train and bus station. Close to the castle with an on-site restaurant. Bikes that you can borrow for free to cruise around town. Rooms good size, decent shower and bath. Quiet location. Good breakfast and excellent staff. They have a buffet salad and soup they offer to their guest for free at dinner time till 8 pm. I love it since we got in a little late. Delicious and much appreciated.

We slept well in comfortable beds and the overall cleanness was ok. Prepare for people walking by to have a peek if you are living on the ground floor. We liked the ambiance of the hotel and had a late night drink in the lobby. We parked our car around the corner which worked fine. Staff was very lovely and helpful. The hotel needs some renovations - our bathroom was sprung from the 80’s, the TV had no international chains or services, the wifi was weak and the hotel doesn’t use key cards. However, the courtyard was very cute and the breakfast superb and we were very happy with our stay.

A delightful surprise for a spontaneous overnight from Copenhagen to Kalmar on the southern Sweden east coast. Kalmar is darling and the Slottshotellet is nearby all the sights one would need to prioritize. Walking distance to the downtown and the old town and the castle, which was unfortunately closed in December for our visit. The main part of the hotel is a charming old building surrounded by several adjunct buildings that act as restaurant and budget lodging options. We stayed directly across the street in one of the "budget" accommodations - two separate rooms for our party of seven, all freshly and recently renovated. We were pleased and well appointed. A kitchenette in our "family" room would have been excellent for longer stays, but as the included breakfast buffet was delicious and filling, we didn't need to use it. A night cap in the cozy sitting rooms in the main building is available and make our "budget" room feel special. Perfectly situated and well appointed with free wifi and breakfast included, I can highly recommend this for your stay in Kalmar.

We stayed here for 1 night when we were visiting our friends in Kalmar. The lady at the guest services was very nice. They even kept our luggages for a few hours after check out when we spend time with our friends. The room was big enough for the 3 of us with 2 beds. There were cutlery and a small kitchen in the corner which we did not use. The bathroom was clean and stocked well. We were on the back side of the hotel and there was no traffic and the place was very quiet at night.
