Liked this museum. Detailed explanations were in English. Especially enjoyed the many perspectives of 'time' in that exhibit. The personal collection of furniture, artifacts and everyday items from the family who spent time in China and Japan was also interesting. All exhibits are worthwhile. Enjoyed lunch outside in the museum cafe afterwards - prices reasonable. There is so much to see, it's tiring. I recommend seeing a couple of floors, then going to the cafe for a bit of rest and recharge, then finishing up. Senior pricing is available

Nice artifacts, but better if there are more details to the exhibits

I had a lovely couple of hours browsing through this museum. Starting at the top level, you work your way down a number of exhibitions and artefacts on display with through provoking reflections to ponder on this journey. I notice the Australian population figures are about 10 million people less than they currently are but I was happy that AUS even had a place in this museum. I learned a lot about Slovenian history, culture and ways of living. There’s also a spectacular display of Chinese and Japanese artefacts on the bottom floor with a rich history behind its precious owners

Haphazardly organised, messily labelled, dimly lit and too hot. Subtracting a star for the ill-conceived exhibition on time. Adding a star for the exhibition on the Slovenian collector of Chinese artifacts

Overall disappointing. Some portions are interesting and creative. However, more than half of the exhibits have no signage in any language other than Slovenian. Much of the 3rd floor permanent exhibition is in near darkness which defeats the purpose of an exhibition. It’s also about 30 Celsius inside despite being 16C outside.

One of the most thought-provoking museums I’ve ever been to. The curation is excellent and the interpretive signage has been written by a deep-thinking ethnographer/anthropologist. Clearly an intellectual with excellent philosophical interpretations.

Nice collection mixing a modest collection of overseas ethnographic material with a larger archive of Slovénie folklore. I went in late-july on a Sunday and despite the touristic crowds in Ljubljana's centre the museum was refreshingly empty. My sole complaints are: 1) The terrible lighting of the top floor. I get that artefact preservation demands dim lights, but surely, I shouldn't need a headlamp to read the annotations. 2) The fragmentary translation of the Slovenian-language wall notes. Some it is translated, some of it isn't. The selection appears random. What *is* translated, however, is highly engaging.

Very nice and quiet museum. Located near the contemporary art museum, is located inside a three story building. Starting from the top floor which is reachable through a very cool window elevator, there is the true ethnographic museum with the permanent exhibition with a very well cared space for kids. On the second floor she I visited there was a special exposition for the 100 years of the museum. And finally on the first floor a series of exhibition that changes over time. The prices are surprisingly cheap, 6 euros the regular ticket and 3 with the student discount. Overall the thing that I liked the most was the peace inside the museum probably because on a rainy Sunday people were doing other things and I only met three other visitors in my entire stay in the building.
