After hearing about it and passing by a few times, I finally got to try it. I am already a sourdough fan (I bake and love eating sourdough bread) and a pizza fan so this is really just both put together. The deep dish style was great and the portion sizes were just right. Fresh ingredients and toppings were just right. The pizza crust has a light and airy texture to it meaning it was proofed well. My friends told me they just re-did their patio and it is now much nicer than before! I enjoyed it and the fencing provided some shielding against Queen St traffic.

I came here one afternoon. The patio outside was almost full, and inside there were a few people ordering and waiting for their food. There were also some tables inside, and the kitchen looked neat and organized. I saw around five or six staff members in total. A few people ahead of me were also waiting for their pizzas. I ordered the pineapple one and waited about 25 minutes. Everything was fine. The crust around the edges was crispy, but I didn’t really taste much of the sourdough flavor. Everything else felt pretty fresh. Just like the name “Slowhand,” things move at a slower pace here. If you’re in a rush, I wouldn’t recommend it. But if you have time, it’s worth the wait for a good pizza.

We got the Pineapple Express, What's the Dill Yo?, Fungus Among us, and the three meat. I appreciate the options on the menu, and the enjoyed the pizza. I wish there had been more tomato sauce on the red pizzas to cut the richness and add flavour. The wait was not too long, about 25 minutes from order to table. I asked what the average cool time is and the staff told me "your buzzer will buzz." Yes, I understand how buzzers work, but thank you. The outdoor patio is beautiful, shaded, and an excellent vibe.

What we ordered: Pineapple Express 5 / 5 Double Trouble 3.75 / 5 The pizzas are a steep in price ($20 tax/tips) but it's worth the splurge. Deep dish style, rectangular cut into 4 segments. The pizzas are great, love the toasted cheese that you get on the corner of your pizza. I recommend the Pineapple Express! Best version of Hawaiian Pizza I've ever had 😀. Staff is friendly, very local atmosphere, makes me wish I live in the area!

While the location could be better, I must say I’ve never tasted a pizza quite like this! When we first arrived, we noticed the small trees and were initially concerned about the thick pizza dough, thinking it might be too filling. However, once we took our first bite, we were blown away! The crust was perfectly cooked, and the dough was fluffy and airy. Surprisingly, after finishing the whole pizza (which consists of four generous slices), we didn't feel overly full. Instead, the exquisite flavors brought out by the toppings created a delightful experience that felt like a feast fit for royalty. The staff were fantastic—genuinely inviting, hospitable, and welcoming. My daughter even remarked that they were unlike typical salespeople, being more down-to-earth and friendly. From now on, every pizza I try will have to meet the high standard set by Slow Hand Sourdough Pizza. If you love pizza, you must try this place immediately!

Perfect Detroit Style pizza slices. I got the classic Marg. Each pizza will easily fill up 2-3 people. Light fluffy crust with crispy edges of cheese. Loved it! Also like the fact there are a few spots to sit inside along with a patio outside. Parking space for 3-4 cars as well.

Ordered a pizza here to go, so I didn’t taste it right out of the oven. You know, Toronto traffic is a bit wild. So after 20mins or so, finally made it. The dough itself is really good. I think the one I got was the Peter piper, it was good and I could have gone without I think it was whipped ricotta on top. But I don’t think it was spicy enough, I love a nice spicy pizza. I’d definitely go back to try other pizzas, definitely want to try the sting me.

Google
I think the best pizza I’ve ever had. Perfect crispy yet light crust. Great sauce and cheese and the toppings perfection. A little bit of spice, savoury pepperonis and creamy sweet ricotta the balance everything out.and the garlic dip, wow!!!! I could eat that with everything. If you’re looking for amazing Detroit style pizza then this is the place

Yelp
NOTE: I ordered the pizza for delivery through their website, so I have no notes about the dining experience at Slowhand. Oh yeah - Slowhand Pizza is the real deal. The concept is alluring and completely counter to the pizza that you order through a shoddy mobile app and shows up at your door in 25 minutes. These guys definitely take their time with their craft, and it shows. Each pizza has a dimension of 9" x 7" (4 square slices) and they're cooked Detroit style. This means that each slice is tall, hefty and decadent. A hungry grown dude could have 5 slices but for all intents and purposes, you should treat each pizza like an individual pizza. I had a few guests over and ordered the Sweet Heat Lightning, Double Trouble, Fungus Amongus, and Big Cheese. All four were spectacular, but I was surprised to find the non-meat option (Fungus Amongus) to be the clear standout. The garlic cream dip awesome and if you order it, they give you a TON of it. Enough garlic dipping sauce for at least 3 people, so make sure not to over-order. I'd definitely recommend Slowhand to anyone in the Leslieville, Cabbagetown, and Distillery District areas. Even pitted against the legendary Descendant Pizza nearby, Slowhand holds its own.

Yelp
The best pizza in Toronto, and I found it because of a short IG reel. and to take things a step further, top 3 I've had in my life Dill pickle on pizza? oh I'm intrigued. this is exactly what brought me to Slowhand pizza in the Leslieville neighborhood. my original visit was in the dead of winter, but the inside was absolutely humid and warm, I wasn't even a step into the establishment and I was greeted instantly, I placed my order for the dill pickle pizza, dip and a water and I took a seat in the tiny and intimate sitting area. A quick 15 mins later, the pizza was IN front of me ready to be consumed, and it sounds crazy, but here is the toppings as per the website "What's the Dill Yo?" Sourdough crust, creamy roasted garlic sauce, mozzarella and swiss cheese, and lots of sliced dill pickles. Finished with fresh dill and a Carolina Gold mustard drizzle. This isn't labeled as a veggie pizza, but without any meat protein added to this pizza, this pizza brought me back in time to the first time I had a big mac, the mustard and pickle combo are identical to the same ones from the big mac of the 90's This pizza didn't make it home, absolutely demolished this in one sitting and this visit made me so happy to be able to experience this, I gave a bunch of thanks Subsequent visits solo and with others, the flavors, the consistency, and the service have remained at the top of my highly recommended places to check out in Toronto although they offer more then just "What's the Dill Yo?" I've tried other pizzas, and the dill pickle pizza is what I want until the end of time with this place. staff are great, I've had conversations with multiple members about how great this place is, and please don't change anything *prays* the negatives (small details) tiny parking lot for this shared plaza, a bunch of street parking nearby closed Monday and reduced hours Tuesday (if I take a day off, it's a Monday) one east end location only (open a west end spot, please) truly, the best pizza place in Toronto, just sucks it's on the east end, and is painful to get to from the west, especially with the gardener ramp gone.

Yelp
Yum. The dough is crunchy yet airy with the burnt cheese along the crust! I had the Peter Piper and it was truly delicious. The whipped ricotta was a great balance with the jalapeño plus hot and honey drizzle. The establishment was a take out/ small eat in environment but the team actually brought your order and still serviced everyone like a dine in restaurant. Will definitely be back and have raved about this place to some friends & family already!

Yelp
If I still lived in the Leslieville area, I'd probably be getting Slowhand's pizza too regularly. Their Detroit style pizza is cooked to perfection: come crunchy/crispy bits of cheese along the outter crust and a nice and airy thick sourdough crust. We tried the Fungus Amongus and Sting Me (their Big Cheese with the addition of drizzled hot honey) our first time there. Great toppings with all the flavours melding together beautifully. We will definitely be back again!

Yelp
We ordered some pizza from Slowhand on the weekend. What a great pie! We tried the double pepperoni and the Three Little Pigs. Both were excellent. The dough is light and not at all heavy and love that the edges are wonderfully crispy. Do recommend if you want to try something other than a traditional pie.

Yelp
On a night signaling winter is here, I'm awfully glad this place has indoor seating. It's not fancy, but everything is clean and new. And it's warm. And the place smells great! I ordered their "Big Cheese", because many places put all kinds of toppings, creams, and potions on top of their pizzas, when the true test of taste is as basic as possible. Dough. Tomato sauce. Cheese. I'm not saying having more things on pizza makes a bad pizza, but if I'm going to a place for the first time, I go for the basics. Service was efficient and friendly. The place is pretty popular even on (or because of?) a cold and damp night. Of course, the best wine for a pizza is a Pop Shoppe 2024 Racinette. This is a very good Detroit style pizza. The depth of flavor from the sourdough crust really makes this crust a cut above other Detroit style pizzas I've had in town. But the crisp edges are still there, the cheese is quality, and the sauce has only a hint of sweetness, which is my preferred style. And the basil adds that hint of herbiness. Come in and get any of their pizzas, I'm sure you won't regret it! Yes, they are a bit more expensive than Pizza Pizza, so share one with a friend, because the four slices were very filling for this guy!

Yelp
I was a little hesitant to try this as I'm not a big sourdough fan but was pleasantly surprised. The pizza crust was cooked to perfection and perfectly balanced with the toppings of the pineapple express pizza. Their garlic cream dipping sauce was also delicious.

Yelp
You must eat this right away. It's not the same when it cools down. They have a nice burn cheese crust around each slice. The dough reminds me of a nice focaccia bread. I love the amount of toppings. The spice from the hot honey and the sweetness of the ricotta is such a great balance. Definitely great to have parking in the front as well. The wait wasnt too long.

Yelp
We went back yesterday for another taste of their delicious offerings. Their pizzas are very unique. They might look small in size, but don't be fooled by the flavour and the texture. Usually deep dish pizzas tend to be far too chewy with a whole Lotta dough. These are quite the contrary, with a lot of air and very light. They are very filling and one pizza is more than adequate for two people. We had the Mushaboom this time and it was really on point. This place is really designed for In-N-Out eating, or alfresco on their picnic tables outside. The service was very good and fast. The guys really know what they're doing behind the counter and it chose in the calibre of their product. This is now become our go to place for really high end pizza. Highly recommend.

Yelp
This deep dish pizza with the thick crispy crust is amazing. White pizza covered in a ton of mushrooms (fungus amongus) Amazing. Baked to perfection. We will definitely be back

Yelp
Tried this out over the weekend. Ordered the three little pigs pizza for pick up. Went and picked it up within 30 minutes without any problems, pizza still hot. This might just be better than Descendant thats just further down the street.

Yelp
Let me just say hands down best deep-dish pizza! First of all, it may not seem like a lot but one pizza is filling enough for two people and it is just absolutely delicious. They also have a variety of pizzas to choose from we went for the Peter Piper. It was sweet and salty and everything paired super well together. We also decided to try their garlic sauce! The garlic flavours are super strong and it is creamy and paired very well with the pizza. We decided to dine in and the service was great! The pizza was also done very quickly and was very fresh. They also have a bathroom which was very clean.

Yelp
what a hidden gem! discovered this pizza joint located in the east end of toronto. Smaller shop but the pizza is sooooooo tasty!!! they dont sell slices, but they make their pizza made to order. We have tried their mushroom and their pepperoni pizza and the dough gets sooo buttery and crispy once baked. Very similar to descendent pizza which is down the street from them. as a tip also get their hot honey!! it wont disappoint!! Already dreaming of my next trip down!

Yelp
This place has pickle pizza which is a must try flavor!! It was a perfect salty balance on this thick sourdough crispy crust. Love it and definitely recommend. The patio is also nice for enjoying your pizza outside in the summer.

Yelp
oh my pizza lords!? where the deep hell have you been hiding!? my initial first thought was "this pizza is small" but i immediately wrong after one (1) bite. you read right!! o-ne bite! its a mf sourdough pizza - thats whats up!! i could not believe how super crispy the corners/edges were, with a soft chewy dough, topped with an addicting tomatoe sauce, a mixed cheese combo (mozza & parm? ifc its friggin delicious!), little pepperoni cups & finished with some fresh mf basil! simple ingredients but stella taste! you gotta check this place out - its worth the trip, i promise! they have some housemade dipping sauces also for the big & little dippers like myself! creamy garkic, hot honey and marinara. service was great! our pizza guy greeted us with a very warm friendly smile - and!!! he so very nicely brought our pizza out to their patio where we were waiting. speaking of their patio - atmosphere is a solid 5/5! pspacious and lots of seating. theres 5 or 6 picnic style benches, each with their own umbrella to shade your hiney from the swealtering sun, so you can really enjoy that pizza! overall, my first experience here was awesome, and clearly it wont be my last!

Yelp
What used to be a secret is not anymore (at least, once they get their restaurant signage updated). Slowhand Pizza went from pandemic pop-up to now taking over an old burger joint on Queen and Pape. Heard a lot of buzz about this pizza during the pandemic, but they kept selling out so was never able to try. So it was a happy coincidence that I was walking by their new location one day, saw loads of pizza boxes flying out from a burger place, and after a quick Google search, found out it was Slowhand. They have a staple number of pizzas (veggie and meat varieties) and a rotating weekly special. We decided to go with the Mushaboom (mushrooms, pepperoni, cheese). At $18 for a 9x7 inch pizza, it's a bit pricey. But it's good for 2 if you're not that hungry, and they're generous with their toppings (the cheese blend was stretching out as we got each slice). And of course, the "star" of the pizza is the sourdough crust - soft, chewy, springy, a real delight. People there are friendly, pizza is quick (though was there around 2pm so not sure if it was timing), and there are a bunch of picnic benches outside just raring for the summer. If you missed out on the Slowhand hype or just want a good old sourdough pizza, stop by and give them a try.

Yelp
Ordered the Hawaiian Pizza and the What's The Dill Yo? Both were great!!! Dill Pickle pizza? Who'd have thunk it? Awesome! Hawaiian was awesome! Jalapeño peppers were roasted to perfection! Loved the mustard drizzle!
google avatar

Glennie M.

Yelp
Great pizza!!! Our new favourite place for Detroit style pizza. And one pizza is perfect for 2 people - it may look small but it's not!!! And the warm drizzled honey is a game changer!!
google avatar

Derek L.

Yelp
very close to a 5 star but maybe it's because I also had maker's pizza while having this. the flavours of the "what the dill yo" pizza was really good and the crunchy cheesy crust really made the pizza shine. I would've liked more pickles to really make every bite have some pickley goodness, and maybe it's just me, but I found the size to be a little small. maybe it's because it's such a thiccc pizza. and the crust surprisingly is not greasy!

Yelp
Called for pick-up and got the Peter Piper pizza. Service was fast, efficient and super helpful as it our first time ordering form Slowhand Pizza. Spoke to Dan and his recommendation was spot on. The pizza was rich and delicious. Highly recommended and we'll be trying out the rest of the sourdough masterpieces that they offer.

Yelp
I feel like I'm constantly writing pizza reviews.. Went to the theatre nearby and consulted my list of places to check out - this option seemed quick, easy and relatively inexpensive. Was really impressed by what I assume was a family run operation (or pretty close to it). Everything was efficient and reasonably quick, although our order took a bit longer than I was expecting. Apparently we had a time to expect it but didn't know that until we asked where the pizza was. Perhaps allow a bit of extra time for the prep (which isn't a bad thing).. We tried two - one meat choice and the other the dill pickle pizza. Definitely more of a traditional pizza guy - the dill pickle one just didn't cut it for me (too much dill) but I'm more than happy to chalk that up to my tastes. Great option for a pizza night in a city swimming with pizza night options!

Leona J.

Yelp
I went there to go get pizza but instantly left for this reason. The workers were wearing tank tops and their arm were covered in hair. They got so much hair in the pizza. Would not recommend.

Shay G.

Yelp
They have a pickle pizza that tastes so good!! The combo sounds odd but it's actually really good and if they added ground beef to it, I'm sure it would taste like a burger. Their other pizzas are really good , they're definitely worth a try!!
google avatar

Yelp
In Leslieville and the East end in general, I feel like we're living in the golden age of pizza. Like seriously we've reached peak pizza. Slowhand is a welcome addition to the competitive pizza scene here. I like the simplicity of the sizes, and the pricing is better than other Detroit style pizza in the area (Descendant). I've had the Peter Piper twice and it hits the spot.
google avatar

Vveerrgg E.

Yelp
Amazing pizza. Worth the try but you'll end up ordering again and again cause it's so good

Sha M.

Yelp
This is hands down the best pizza in Leslieville. Their signature crust is incredible, not too greasy, just the right amount of crisp.
