The Best All-inclusive Resorts in the Bahamas

"A beachy-chic, intimate all-inclusive on Andros Island that has welcomed guests for over 60 years and is especially popular with adventure seekers due to plentiful outdoor activities like scuba diving, snorkeling, and paddling. Accommodations are beachfront cabins hand-built from coral rock and local pine, decorated with handmade furnishings, local artwork, and colorful Androsia batik accents; al fresco showers are a notable feature. The property includes complimentary use of bikes, paddleboards, and kayaks, plus a free scuba or snorkeling lesson. Meals are served buffet-style; expect local specialties such as fresh-caught lobster, a kids’ menu, a nightly cocktail hour with a full open bar, and complimentary babysitting for children ages 2 to 7 during dinnertime (6:00 p.m. through 8:45 p.m.). Note that gratuities are not included. Rates start from $693 per night." - Lauren Dana Ellman Lauren Dana Ellman Lauren Dana Ellman is a New York-based writer and editor who specializes in travel, lifestyle, food, and shopping content. Wonderful long weekend visit after a week liveaboard scuba. Admin staff at liveaboard told me that if i had a few extra days, this place was on her bucket list of places to go locally. She was right. Outstanding experience with outstanding diving (as good as liveaboard) and absolutely exceptional scuba and resort staff. Did everything to make me comfortable as a solo traveler. Great food, wonderful physical environment. Well worth the expense. So much so that i'e booked a nearby villa to take my whole family (villa has access to lodge services).

What an amazing place! We've been fortunate to travel all over the Bahamas with a core group of 12 friends for the last 25 years. We loved the fact that Small Hope Bay Lodge was established in 1960 and retains its charm and authenticity all these years later. At first I thought perhaps the staff was a little excessively friendly, but by day two, everyone seemed like they really were our new friends. The adorable diverse group of staff took care of our every need. They set up chairs and umbrellas on islands we visited with drinks and snacks. They asked us each evening what we'd like to do the following day and took care of all of the details. We snorkeled from the boats three days and the fish were amazing! The perfect bar on the outdoor terrace is always open and one of our new friends was happy to make a frozen drink or deliver a cold Kalik! There are dozens of delightful hammocks all over the property, but my favorite one was at the end of the dock. The dock was also the perfect place for watching sunrises over the bay AND sunsets each evening, looking back over the resort. As much as we've enjoyed the Abacos, Exumas, Eleuthera and other islands, this summer's adventure on Andros was the best! Thanks everyone.

We chose Small Hope firstly as a place to dive and from all the great reviews. It really is as good as everyone says. It's simple and no frills but everything works so well. Great food and drinks (some terrific cocktails!) so if you're looking to lose weight, look away now...|The diving was wonderful - great sites, good visibility and managed by an impeccable dive team. Also do go for a bike ride to the inland blue hole - magic.|Which brings me to the most important part which is that Small Hope has real soul - everyone that works there makes it special. Everyone is warm, open and friendly and the team takes time to mix and mingle with guests every meal in a way that brings everyone together. |It's pretty unique that way and we wouldn't hesitate to come back. ||Huge thanks to the whole Small Hope team for a super special week xx

This place is fantastic. We booked our return trip next year within two weeks. Laid back. Friendly and attentive staff. My teenage daughter is a picky eater and the kitchen and wait staff made her a plate of buttered noodles for dinner every night with a smile. The Fishing Guide was terrific. Friendly, knowledgeable and superb at spotting bonefish.

This was our 4th visit to Small Hope Bay Lodge and hope to be back next year. The location makes it easy for us to get there via Maker's Air in Ft Lauderdale. When we arrive we are greeted as family members with hugs all around. The food is always fresh and fantastic! The rooms are comfortable and 20 steps to the beach and water. We have snorkeled, kayaked, gotten a lesson in diving, gone to the Blue Hole, sat in the hot tube, gone to Somerset Beach and reef fished. Next time we hope to bring at least one grandson to learn how to dive. We love your family home, Jeff and love all your employees and dive staff. Thanks for another great vacation.

What a wonderful place! We spent two nights at this amazing, hidden gem and can't wait to go back! The location is beautiful, the staff is very warm and friendly, and the food was delicious. For advanced or beginner divers, the experience is exceptional. But you don't have to dive to relax and enjoy this beautiful place. Go check it out!

I get one week of vacation a year. Small Hope is the only place I'll go. Low key and unpretentious, its simple relaxation and peaceful nature like no other. But bring the bug spray, you'll need it. The staff can't be beat. I've traveled to 41 countries, and their staff is unrivaled.

I write this review “With Great Caution and Bravado”. Don’t worry, you’ll get it after you go 😎🇧🇸. What an awesome week! I’ve personally been traveling to the Bahamas for many years inclusive of Nassau/Paradise Island, Abacos, Eleuthera, Exumas many times, this was the first time staying on Andros and I’m so glad we chose Small Hope Bay. We had a large group of 16 people, friends and family and all had a wonderful time. As many mentioned the cabins are comfortable, large enough for what you need and cleaned daily by the amazing cleaning squad. The bathrooms are snug, but there are a few with outdoor showers which I used every night but one. Lots of hammocks and places to relax. Lots to do, snorkeling was as good as anywhere I’ve been, really loved China Point but all the spots they took us to were great. Great place if you want to do scuba, the included intro was so well done, Ricardo is an excellent and patient instructor. I’m a certified diver and have done several vacations at scuba centric places like one on Roatan and I think SHB is as good or better than any. Short boat rides on uncrowded boats, you cant beat that. The food was awesome as was the service. The owner Jeff and son Brian was around, both super great people and extremely informed about the area and environment and responsible care of it. There’s a reason people like Justin Trudeau have been traveling there since they were born. Finally, can’t say enough about the entire staff and how great it was to hang around them for a week. Loved talking Premier League football with Brit Ben. Jay and Dennis are such cool dudes both from the Bahamas. Young Liam with such a great story of how he came to be a master diver right there at SHB. Montané from South Africa another great instructor and cool person. My amigo Ricardo who could double as Jordan Peele. Don, not only a great chef but also fishing guide. Andi from España who I enjoyed conversing in Spanish with. Ashley bartender extraordinaire along with dive master. The people there really make it special. I can see why people return.
