Smart Hotel

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Smart Hotel for the first stop of our South America Journey. The duration of our stay was 4 nights. Upon our arrival at 10 a.m. our room was not ready yet, but we were pleasently surprised to hear that our room would be prioritized and that we would be notified via whatsapp, should the room be ready early. We explored the city for a bit when we got the message about our room being ready 2 hours early. We also had the opportunity to change after our travel day before going out. The room itself was spacious, with a double bed, a sofa and a desk-ish area with a TV. The Bathroom was decent. The big windows give the room an airy feel which is complimented by the great views on the rio de la plata as well as the Palacio Salvo. The room was a bit dated and there were some spots on the walls and a crack in the ceiling above the shower. Though the room has many mirrors, they were all already corroding. For me the blanket was a negative. Essentially it is a blanket between two individual bedsheets, and if you move even a little bit it the bedding situation becomes really uncomfortable and chaotic. The Hotel is located very central, so it can be rather loud outside at night, but it did not bother us too much. It is also important to note that the hotel is not soundproof. We did not have the breakfast included but tried it once, since we had an early morning. For the rather steep price of 14 USD it was disapointing to say the least, so I would not recommend it. Overall it is a nice hotel to stay in for a few days, with decent rooms, great staff and some room for improvement. It is located right in the city center and everything is reachable on foot easly, with the Rambla being 10 minutes away. You can reach the nearest beach within 50 minutes on foot. The Staff is super nice and friendly and the 24h reception is a great Plus!

The location is wonderful and the room was a really good size and clean. Breakfast was good too. The only issue was that the next day we asked the lobby for an extra towel, and they said there were none left. I was surprised,didn’t think this could happen in a hotel!

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!! SAVE YOUR MONEY Ive never stayed at a hotel where the door and keys did not work it was hilariously bad, everytime i had to come back for a new key and i was given excuses about how i kept my keys with my phone which in all the countries ive ever visited never had this issue, i locked out, spent alot of money and honestly despite the decent room quality, ive never encountered a hotel issue this bad. And the manager just straight up refused to fix it

We really enjoyed our week stay in the Smart Hotel. All the front desk employees spoke English and were very friendly. Our corner room had a lot of space and a small kitchenette. Coffee and tea were provided in the room. The breakfast was the same every morning, but was good and filling. There are many things to do within walking distance. We recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Montevideo.

I arranged for airport pickup through the hotel, but no one ever came. After an hour I finally got a response from the hotel saying that the transport person got the dates confused, so I got an Uber instead. Concerning the room, there wasn't a luggage stand, and the walls were very dirty, even had a dead bug on one. There is a microwave and a mini fridge, but most of the space in the fridge is taken up by mini bar items. There was only one hand towel and one bath towel in the room and the pillows had a very strong cleaner smell. The air conditioning worked well though. If an outlet doesn't work, flip a switch nearby and it usually makes the outlet start working. My room was next to the gym and it was noisy. At 10pm you could hear a blender, a machine running, buttons beeping and music. When you check out they make you wait while they inspect your room before you can leave which is something I'm not accustomed to, and I'm not sure if that's normal or not. There are some restaurants within walking distance. I would not recommend this hotel.

Fairly modern city centre hotel. We opted for a superior room which was spacious with kitchenette and sitting area. Bathroom had walk in shower. Bed was comfy. ||Breakfast buffet was decent, but you have to book a time when they are busy as the dining area is small. Ate dinner there too but only average. ||Staff for most part are young and helpful, although was irritated to find our room had not been cleaned when we returned after a busy day at 17.30. Someone was sent up pretty quickly but then we had to vacate our room for another 30 mins and there was no apology. ||Was pleased to find a small but well equipped gym. ||One thing to note is that the hotel is on a fairly busy road. We were allocated a room on the first floor and it was quite noisy so may be best to request a room on a high floor.

Great value for money, rooms are excellent, spacious and with modern furniture. In my room there were a few minor wear and tear issues needing attention, like minor paint retouches and the safe was locked. But everything else good, towels thick and clean smelling, same for linen, great pillows, the bed was fantastic, nice coffee area, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Areas outside the room like access corridor and elevators, excellent. The hotel has a small restaurant downstairs.

The rooms are big and clean. The service was fantastic. I really liked the hotel restaurant. The hotel definitely stands out as one of the more newer and attractive in the area. It's reasonably priced too.
