Smeralda Beach Houses, Costa Smeralda, Sardinia - Explore & Book

"Costa Smeralda, in north-east Sardinia, is one of the most dazzling regions of Italy. The emerald sea speckled with wisps of sailing boats; soft curves of white beach, lapped by gin-clear waters; scented pines and barbary cactus hugging the coastline. Like the jet-setters that followed, Prince Aga Khan was captivated by its glorious beauty in the 60s, when he developed the area for upmarket tourism; today VIPs come to play on luxury boats and in glitzy nightclubs. A minute's walk along a sandy track from Spiaggia Capriccioli, one of Costa Smeralda’s prettiest coves, is a trio of low-rise whitewashed villas with shared pool, enshrouded by gardens of aromatic myrtle and pink bougainvillea. Interiors are comfortably furnished in characterful ‘Smeralda style’: hand-painted murals, colourful tapestries, and a sprinkling of quirky trinkets from owner Geraldina. The result is stylish yet homely, and ideal for couples or families alike. Each villa is slightly different - Main House (sleeping 2-6) has a shaded outdoor kitchen built into granite rock, Stone Cottage (sleeping 2-4) has a pretty patio, and Terrace House (sleeping 2-4) has a sensational rooftop panorama over the bay; your own private VIP area. Highs Unique, charming villas; owner Geraldina has delightful tasteWonderful sea views and huge windows and terraces to enjoy themPretty Capriccioli beach is 2 minutes' walk away with turquoise sea and soft sand; you can also walk to 4 other beachesSelf catering is a joy, thanks to fantastic fresh local produce. We loved relaxed alfresco meals, in such a gorgeous settingYou feel hidden away but there's a wealth of activities close by: boat trips, stunning beaches and wine tasting Lows It's expensive and the villas are quite small, plus rates exclude an end-of-stay clean, but you're paying for style in an exclusive areaWe've received reports of a lack of hot water in the Terrace HouseStone Cottage is smaller than the others and lacks natural light and comfy indoor seatingKitchens are simple and aren't particularly well equippedThe villas aren't well set up for colder months, and the local area tends to shut down during this timeThe pool is shared between the 3 villas, although there's plenty of space and loungers for everyone" - Harriet Whiting

Thus is an amazing beach. The colors of the water are so pleasing to the eyes. So many different shades of blues blending. The waters are clean and pure. The sandy beach is not the fine white save but still lovely to walk in, not hot or prickly. The first 50m is only 1m deep so give to swim in, no dangerous rip tides. Very funny. The water us seemingly cool at first but warm after you dunk in. And alternating cool and warm currents flow throughout the shore. Very very fine beach. One of the best in the world (I’ve been to many…) Saw a few different fishes water do clean and clear 1m you dnd easily see…not as colorful as tropical places but still cool!

Beautiful beach, but too many people is here. If you do not mind it, jus go there and enjoy the beach.

This beach is amazing. The water is beautiful and clear, the sand is nice and nearly white and the water has an amazing temperature. There are lifeguards no more than 50 metres from you nevermind where on the beach you are. The only downside is that the parking lot is kinda far away, and costed money but not a lot of money. But an amazing beach overall. And there aren't a lot of people on the beach, so it's just great. Plus there is a café on the beach, with planks leading up to the beginning of the beach, making it wheelchair accessable

Beautiful scenic beach with (paid) amenities. There is a beach restaurant that has food and drinks as well as bathrooms (request the key at the bar). Service was a bit slow but staff were working hard. It was just busy. Umbrellas and chairs were available to rent from the lifeguard for $40/$50 (as of 07/28/24). This supposedly allows use of the shower by the beach for customers who pay for rentals but after my first child had rinsed off and the second was halfway through, the creepy senior lifeguard came over and told us we had to use the shower at the parking lot (despite others using it just prior to us). The showers and bathrooms at the parking lot are a 5-7min walk and payment is required to use either. The younger lifeguard was very helpful but the senior lifeguard seemed to be more interested in hitting on other men’s women than helping anyone. All in all I don’t think I would visit here again. The beach is beautiful but many beaches in Sardinia are and it felt like they charged at every possible opportunity. FYI: there is a beach right next to it that is much less crowded.

Very friendly staff who offers fun water activities (banana boat, pedal boat…etc.), plus nice umbrellas and lounges.

What a beauty: crescent-shaped gem with crystal-clear, shallow water, and super soft sand. Other notes: snorkelling is possible here; parking lot is 2 Euros per hour (8-10 minute walk to beach on a gravel road); portable bathroom on north side of beach; can rent water sports canoes there; umbrellas & chairs are available for rent; capacity: can get crowded; this beach can hold a few hundred people. A top notch beach.
