Smile Hotel - Shimonoseki

The hotel is located really close to Shimonoseki station. The room is clean. The front desk staffs both night shift and morning shift are friendly. I arrived the hotel around 10PM so there weren’t many restaurants that still open at that hour. I had to walk a bit far for a convenient store. But I really enjoyed spending the night there!

Hotel next to mall and train station. Convenient and clean. Comfortable place for 1 night stay. Quiet surrounding. Mall close at 7.30pm

Made a non smoking booking and arrived only to be put in a smoking room. Had to pay to book another hotel nearby as they couldn’t move me. Wouldn’t offer a refund for my booking because their system is saying it was a smoking room which is not true. Would recommend staying very far away from this chain.

The hotel is located near train station and mall. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are two coin laundry machines and a microwave we can use at the fifth floor. The room is not that big, though. It's enough for one person but it will be quite difficult to move around for two persons. Overall, it's a good place to stay

Best price/value ratio I have stayed. 2 of us stayed in one room, and had breakfast included. The price was superb. The facility and the amenities are old, it hasn't had a renovation for ages, but by no means was it dirty. It is old, but very clean! I will stay in the hotel again, if I go to Shimonoseki.

Room was too small and wasn’t worthy for amount of money I paid for.

It is just around the station, and easy to access. At the station you can get the bus to Karato and other tourist spots with bus passes available. Everything is standard and fine in the hotel, and there's plenty of brochure to study (Most are Japanese only though) at the front desk.

Would stay again. Great value. Great location right next to the station. Easy walk or bus ride to the major sites (Kaikyo Tower, Kaikyokan aquarium, the wharf to get to Ganryu, the little "amusement" park with a great Ferris wheel etc). Only two downside, first was the bathroom which was old, and the shower curtain needed to be changed. Second was the TV which was run through the pay service, so no hope of accessing a HDMI port, no USB media, and no screen mirroring.
