Went on off-season when the rv section was closed. We were allowed to use our generator. River right across the street. Very cool. Electric and water only in rv section. No cell service, no wifi, no tv stations. Totally off grid. But we'll worth the stop. Breath taking mountain views. Cherokee is only 5 miles from campground.

This is a nice government campground. You have to make your reservation, and pay for it, online. The campsites are clean and well maintained. There are bear proof garbage receptacles throughout. The bathrooms only have toilets and sinks, no showers. There aren’t any hookups for your camper. You will have to use a generator. There is a dump station as you depart. If you are okay roughing it, you will like this place. Almost forgot, if you need firewood or ice, you can purchase it at the riding stables.

Beautiful location and very nice trails!! My only reservations were that when booked weren’t told the bathrooms were closed for winter. Only one open which was a good distance from our site. Also campsites were too close together with no plants or trees for more privacy.

Such an awesome campground . You will loose service right past the visitor center for Verizon. T-Mobile waves goodbye in Cherokee. We will be back. So quiet and staff is so nice and helpful. Bring solid food storage items . Ice and fire wood available at the little store at the other end of the campground. Firewood is $8/bundle

Stayed over Memorial Day weekend 2024 at site B036. Right next to the restroom facility. Camp site was nice. The tent pad look level even though we didn’t use it. Parking pad was level, which we used for parking the jeep and roof top tent. Restrooms had men’s and women’s with two stalls each and two sinks, flush toilets. There was a dish washing sink on the side of the building. Nice proximity to hiking trails and trout streams is a huge plus. Ice for $3 a bag and Fire wood for $8 a bundle available from Smokemont Stables a five minute drive down the road.

Campsites are right next to the water so you get to fall asleep listening to it flow. Still relatively cold on summer nights. There’s a stable just down the road with a small convenient store for firewood and other amenities and it even has Wi-Fi . Smokemont loop trailhead is right next to the sites and is absolutely gorgeous. Fair warning there was no soap in the bathrooms when I went. Also none of my friends had any cell service.

Smack in the middle of the smokies... Tall trees, large open sites, easy access to all hiking, mostly quiet (except for some generators that ran when they shouldn't have). This place had everything we needed, even though we were a weee bit cold, but we'd easily go there again! I had hoped I'd get to see my first bear while here, but nope. Maybe next time.

Beautiful campground located in the Smoky Mountains National Park. The rangers were very welcoming and informative. Everything was well-cared for. We needed solar power, so we wanted a spot in a field, but there were some beautiful shady ones too, and also nice ones right along the river. The stars at night were amazing!
