Smokey's BBQ Joo Chiat

Pretty chill and nice place to enjoy the company of friends! Glad that it wasn’t too noisy or crowded! Got to try lots of variations of meat because of their combo set offer where you can order different selections with sides! Really liked the tater tots too! The owner was very nice, I mentioned in my booking that it was a bachelors night and they gave us a round of shots on the house!

An authentic American roadhouse in Joo Chiat. Wings and pulled pork sandwich are top quality. I don't often recommend a lemonade but... get the pink lemonade. Made in house, and with a slight fizz like the Brits do.

Had baby back ribs and beef brisket combo. Meat is tender and falls off easily but felt that the bbq sauce is too overwhelming. Sweet potato fries not crispy enough and coleslaw pretty average. The brewlander porter not that great I feel, give me my Guinness!

Chanced upon Smokey's because our reservation nearby was giving us some problems but such a blessing in disguise to have the opportunity to come to this place! If you are a fan of craft beers or decent priced cocktails etc, you've come to the place. Also, their grills and bar foods are of decent quality as well so overall if you are looking for a no-frills, casual and relaxed place for some easy drinking and tasty foods, please visit Smokey's! Side note, their Chicken Tenders are so good; the sauces that come with it gives it another layer of tangy, savoury taste profile which is so interesting and goes so well with beers too. Had high expectations due to the reviews. Unfortunately the food served fell short. Ordered some fish in beer batter, sliders and a mixed platter of ribs. The fish in batter tasted burnt. Not sure if the oil is old or juts over fried. Sliders were alright but not spectacular. Ribs were tender but cold and couldn’t really differentiate between the two flavours. However the venue and service was excellent. Maybe it’s a better place to have drink after having dinner somewhere else.

The beer-battered fish lacked any hint of beer flavor and was unfortunately soaked in oil that tasted overused, giving it a burnt aftertaste. Both the St. Louis and Baby Back Ribs were underwhelming, with an overpowering saltiness that overshadowed any other flavours. Nothing special about their “secret sauce”. The slider burgers were disappointingly dry and bland, leaving little to be desired. For the price, the food simply doesn’t live up to expectations. While it might be a decent spot to relax over a drink, the food is far from being the highlight.

Staff seemed more interested to sit down and watch TV than serving customers. 5 staff in outlet, 2 sitting down, 1 clearing tables only, 1 adjusting the TV and 1 taking orders. Baby back ribs were average but the BBQ sauce was fantastic. Unfortunately the sauce is not what you pay for but rather the meat which was average at best. Fries were nice and crisp.

Giant size beer with yummy food. Not for aircon lovers, but it was okay to have a quick bite. Saw a few incidents where staffs were arguing with the customers.
