If you're looking for a fun, unique experience in the Smoky Mountains, the Smoky Mountain Alpine Coaster is definitely worth checking out. We were initially intimidated by the long line, but thankfully, it moved quickly, and the wait wasn't as bad as it seemed at first.
When you arrive, you purchase tickets and hop into line. One important tip: make sure to leave any unnecessary items (like bags or phones) in your car. They're pretty strict about you not carrying anything with you on the ride, so be prepared to store them away before you get started.
The ride up the mountain takes a bit of time, and while the views aren't particularly stunning, it does give you a chance to prepare for the ride down. If you're like us and tend to want to go full speed right away, keep in mind that if there are people ahead of you riding slowly, you might have to hold back a bit. The ride can lose some of its excitement if you're constantly braking to avoid getting too close.
There's also an option to buy photos and merch, though we chose not to purchase anything.
All in all, the experience was fun for a one-time adventure, but I don't think I'd pay to do it again. If you're in the area and looking for something a little different, it's a good way to pass the time, but it's not a must-repeat experience.
