Google
I try to check out local coffee shops when I’m out of town and hit this one this morning. In the Hazelwood area of Waynesville NC, very rustic with very friendly staff. Coffee was great and total for large au lait with a huge apple fritter was $7.50. Happy to support local businesses like these that anchor their communities.

Google
We stumbled upon this charming coffee shop and were delighted to find public parking right across from it. The friendly staff greeted us warmly and guided us through the ordering process as first-time customers. The ambiance inside was inviting, and the variety of well-priced pastries was impressive, although I didn’t have the chance to try any. The options were particularly appealing! My husband opted for the German chocolate iced latte, while I chose the hot bear claw latte. Their signature latte list was unique and captivating, and I’m excited to return and explore more of their coffee!

Google
Cup of coffee and a breve latte. They were ok. Nothing beats small town coffee shop vibes imo.

The smell is what draws me in every single time. Coffee being roasted 10 feet from where I’m sitting, yes please!!! I have tried the cinnamon rolls and they are good, nothing super notable but tasty and I will continue to get them. The coffee is my absolute favorite. I love the honeybee latte-honey, maple, and cinnamon in a cup. I have not had a coffee or latte yet here that was not delicious.

Google
Stopped in for the first time today while passing through for work. Great atmosphere laid back and local feel. Good selection of pastries, bagels, and more to nimble on while having coffee with friends. Overall was very satisfied with options available for refueling and getting back to business. Cheers!!

Google
Great space, nice ambience. Got the chai latte with a flavored shot, it was a bit too sweet, should have asked for less sugar but good taste. Also got the maple pecan croissant for $1.25, small nice tasty bites. Nice spot overall with a bunch of flavors to try with your lattes.

Google
I went in yesterday around 5:00pm. The barista that took my order said that she had had a long exhausting day with lots of people yelling at her. The amazing part is that she still had a big smile on her face when she took my order and when she brought my coffee to me. Best coffee ever and totally made my day!!!! 100 percent recommend!!!!

Google
I love this coffee shop! The staff has always been friendly. The coffee is good! They roast the beans there. It smells so good when you walk in the door!

Yelp
What a smell! And I mean that in the most coffee-loving way possible. I had such a delightful experience in the Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters. My crew had two drip coffees, strawberry slushie, and a blueberry and cheese danish. They have multiple carafes of drip coffee available, and I settled on the Breakfast Blend. The service was excellent, from the person who helped us with the danish, to the person who helped my kiddo decide on their drink. But the best service was to have an encounter with the coffee roaster himself. We were able to witness the original, untreated coffee beans, with their greenish hue. We could then see the vat with the roasted bean and compare. To our luck, we only had to wait 10° to see freshly roasted beans come out! Who needs any other entertainment when you can learn about where your coffee comes from and how it goes from start to finish. We actually came here for their whole bean coffee, and everything else was an unexpected bonus. We picked the Organic Guatemalan Roast, since we are creatures of habit. They ground our coffee for us, we paid, and went off on our journey a little more relaxed than when we came in. Definitely a place to stop when you're in the area. We love their coffee and their hospitality.

Yelp
I stopped by to pick up a pound of freshly roasted coffee beans as I prefer to grind them daily myself. The blends are very aromatic and I feel that they are priced right. There's a little area to sit and enjoy a cup or two of their coffee while enjoying the coffee house vibe. Staff was helpful in selecting a blend for my taste and I appreciate the service.

Yelp
Great coffee. Just walking in lifts your expectation by the strong scent of roasted coffee beans. While the place lacks cozy charm, the coffee is outstanding. We were going to get a pastry or cookie but they looked picked over and a bit overdone. So we passed. They could use better seating to invite people to stay awhile, but we still enjoyed the coffee so much all that didn't matter.

Yelp
My absolute favorite coffee shop in the Waynesville area by far. The coffee is great and they will mix a flavor for you if they are out of stock if you ask. I always get the Snickerdoodle with the Organic Sumatran. I also get those beans plain as well. The staff is friendly and always helpful. Highly recommended.

Yelp
I'm homesick just reading the (mostly) positive reviews. I lived in Waynesville for 7 years and frequented this amazing coffee shop often. The baristas were amazing and one helped me with finding a lower acid coffee. Peruvian, yum. Yes, the place is small, and maybe staff might be a bit overwhelmed at times, but I was only greeted with a kind hello and very helpful service. Any criticisms read in the reviews seemed extremely petty to me. I remember one barista especially, super kind and friendly; we ended up trading her own pound of coffee for the espresso cups I had bought at the thrift store. (Within Reach benefits the local women's shelter. Make sure to drop in there too!) What other coffee roaster sells their precious coffee by the pound anymore, and far less than any other roaster I'm aware of. I live in Wisconsin now, and while we do have good coffee here, I will be calling tomorrow and ordering at least 10 lbs of coffee.

Yelp
Wow, this place is popping and very popular. I believe it's the only coffee shop in the Waynesville area. I like that they grind their coffee onsite. It seems to be a hotspot with the locals including my parents. We saw a lot of people entering to get coffee and buy a bag of coffee beans. I got a Large Lavender Latte...with 2% milk - a little odd they ran out of whole milk already prior to noon. I thought my Latte was good, but would've been tastier w/whole milk. I got an Everything Bagel w/cream cheese. The bagel tasted homemade, was dense and chewy like it should be! The decor is minimal...could use some more love.

Yelp
Super informal coffee roasters - shop, great smells, they have cookies and a bagel bar that small but does the trick. I really liked the authentic ambiance.

Shaunda B.

Yelp
Nice quick stop and a good cup of coffee. Rustic ambience and locally owned. Liked the chai tea and latte.

Yelp
Nice busy shop with great coffee and excellent baked goods. The cinnamon bun and pecan maple streusal (?) were delicious. There are 2 small tables outside but large truck traffic can be noisy.
google avatar

Yelp
I got the Cranberry Orange bagel and breakfast blend it was good I liked the coffee and the bagel was good

Yelp
The staff was great and helpful since we had never been before. The amount of flavors they have to add to your coffee was almost overwhelming lol she suggested Heath bar and so I went with it. It was a really good latte and same for just the regular coffee with almond milk. Prices are great and they do have indoor and outdoor seating which was nice to see. Also ordered a bagel and it was okay, I wouldn't have it again.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
When you first walk in you are immediately hit with the amazing aroma of fresh roasted coffee. The aroma alone makes the experience welcoming and very inviting. The staff are always so wonderful.

Yelp
Yes!!! Great coffee and espresso! Support your local small businesses! And tip the baristas! This place is one of the only genuine coffee shops you can find in the area. I'm not talking cafes with tons of food. Chocolate shops with "coffee". I mean a real coffee shop. This place is it and is legit. If you're a coffee connoisseur as myself and have to try EVERY coffee shop when you travel, hit this place up as your main chain! Grab some beans for the road too! And also, their prices are outrageous. As in, CHEAP! They don't over-charge you for extra shots, flavors, drip coffee is cheap, etc. They keep the price low and the coffee good. So glad I got to visit here not once but twice during my Waynesville stay. I will come back on future trips, you can count on that.

Yelp
Amazing coffee! We come up from Florida every few months, and never went in until today! You can smell the fresh coffee as soon as you walk in. Ordered a Carmel latte, and it was absolutely amazing! Everything is priced perfectly! Support local as much as possible. I am hoping to go back tomorrow before I head back down south!

Yelp
So delicious! Made this our little coffee spot during a Waynesville mini vacation! Coffee was always on point and their bagels are SO GOOD!

Yelp
Waynesville was one of the highlights of our Blue Ridge Parkway adventures, both in 2016 and 2017. The best part of visiting Waynesville was discovering Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters. Their Deep Creek blend is exceptional and I have ordered 10 lbs of Deep Creek beans every couple of months for the past 5 years. I am so happy that they continue roasting such a quality blend and that I can enjoy their exquisite coffee. Thank you, Keith Stanosz Presque Isle, WI

Yelp
This place is very cool for a coffee shop. Although takeout only during this pandemic, you can still stop by and get cup of coffee (yes iced as well for those warmer days) and the little bakery side looks just as good. Don't expect to pay high dollar here. Very affordable pricing! They even have chocolate covered espresso beans! Very friendly staff.
google avatar

Rachael P.

Yelp
This place had some good coffee options and my cousin and her husband get their coffee beans there and we had that coffee every morning while I visited and I thought it was good coffee!
google avatar

Lauren W.

Yelp
You want some good coffee, they don't disappoint! I buy my coffee here, and treat myself to one of their amazing creations when I stop in!

Marcia C.

Yelp
This coffee roaster/coffee shop is amazingly friendly and quaint. Great lattes, sandwiches. Make sure to take a pound of freshly-roasted coffee home with you. Marcia C.

Yelp
An excellent spot to get a great cup of coffee. Roasting is done in house and makes the storefront fragrant! Easy street and lot parking. Bagels and delicious cake donuts.

Yelp
A terrific coffee shop in the heart of Hazelwood in Waynesville with free wifi and GREAT coffee from locally roasted (in the coffee shop) coffee beans. My coffee was delicious, and the Deep Creek Blend beans I brought home to use in my French press are PERFECT! Clean coffee shop, great breakfast and lunch and snack choices, and very pleasant, friendly and upbeat barristas behind the counters. VIDEO of the cafe: http://bit.ly/4uyaqJ

Yelp
Helpful, friendly staff! I got some beans to take home and a delicious apple cider donut. I'd stop in again for the donut alone.

Yelp
This is my local favorite coffee shop where I visit daily; get a cup of their delicious Peruvian coffee and read a book. Wonderful cozy welcome feeling shop with a great team of employees.

Yelp
Oh I do love this place! We've been going to this wonderful coffee place for over 2 years! We never leave without at least 3lbs of coffee!!! 3 different kinds!! The baristas are wonderful, friendly, helpful!!! Please take a ride to this coffee house!!! You will not be disappointed!! Oh yes also check out the bakery goods yum!!!!! Enjoy!!

D F.

Yelp
I was in town for the day, and really needed coffee. I stopped by this cafe, and to my surprise, its not your usual coffee house. I was greeted kindly, and was assisted with my orders. As we grabbed a table, they started pouring coffee beans into a roaster. It was so interesting to see the whole process happen right in front of our eyes. The smell of the beans in the roaster was heavenly. I will definitely be back when i am in Waynesville.
google avatar

Yelp
Today was my first visit, and I'll DEFINITELY be back. This is the only place in Waynesville that I've found with REALLY good whole bean coffee, and it's only $10/lb. We were making a bi-weekly trip to World Market in Arden, so thank goodness that's over. The baristas are knowledgeable about their product and SO nice. They allowed us to sample a couple of diffrent roasts before making our decion. Furthermore, Iced coffee for three bucks, PLUS flavoring syrups made with cane sugar (not HFC)? Yes, please! I'm already eagerly awaiting our next trip in!

Yelp
Nice little place. Hot choc a little sweet tasting for me. Nice friendly staff. Toilets inside and wifi i think.

Yelp
This place is adorable!! I'd be in here 3x a week if I lived in Waynesville! We got lattes and bagels: cinnabagel for him, half egg salad half pimento cheese for me. Yum!! Also snagged a couple 1 lb bags of coffee to travel home with us and a cute burlap sack for 5 bucks. Building: totally cool Service: quick, friendly and accommodating Food and drink: local tastyness to the max Overall: can you open a shop in Fairfax VA plz? Kthx see you soon :)
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Great coffee shop. I needed 20 1lbs bags of ground coffee and they took care of me with no problem. Fresh grounded coffee smells so good!
google avatar

Jason N.

Yelp
Great coffee, great service and excellent bagels as well. Love the inside of the building and you can buy Bach's of coffee to take home. Only reason I'm giving 4 is because they have a 5$ minimum on cards.

Bob C.

Yelp
Noticing a trend. Neato tittle coffee place, but some of the baristas would be more at home in Asheville where grunting, scowling, and treating paying customers as if they ought be really happy just to be acknowledged is the norm. Coffee is always super, food is good; just please remember that this is Hazelwood, not AsheVegas. I'll try you again in a few weeks. If it hasn't changed, there's always Panacea.

Sandi B.

Yelp
We live in Florida and love Waynesville and visit every chance we get. We stumbled upon Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters. They have the best coffee. We order all our whole bean coffee from them. The coffee beans are fresh and they arrive in a timely manner.

Lauren S.

Yelp
Very cute place everyone is so nice there. I really enjoyed my coffee very refreshing and great tasting.

Yelp
Awesome place. Just held a large meet up there. The staff and owner were so great. Coffee was super! They set up and move tables for us on very short notice, fast service and bakery goods were so amazing! Wow! Great find with large parking lot across the street even! A must go to...often.

Anna M.

Yelp
Have been coming here for years! Great local spot! The pimento cheese is excellent. Just remember they are closed on Sunday's.
google avatar

Danvey W.

Yelp
Roasted in house as the name implies. Whether you get a pound or a cup it's tasty stuff served by friendly folks. Hazelwood is a neat little part of town too for those visiting the area.
google avatar

Mary V.

Yelp
Every time I come in from STL we stop for coffee both to pick up and to take home. They are a great family owned company with wonderful coffee. For people who love their coffee to taste and enjoy not just to wake them up, this is foodstuff! Stop in and try it!

Katy L.

Yelp
Visited here after stopping at another local coffee shop that gave me an undrinkable cup of java. I'm glad I found Smoky Mountain Coffee Roasters! For a very reasonable price, I got a cup of excellent dark coffee to take on the road with me. The baristas were very nice and helpful. I'll definitely return!
google avatar

Mika R.

Yelp
Great little local coffee shop with super friendly staff. I had a vanilla latte, and it was perfect.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
This is some of the best coffee in all of Haywood County and you cannot beat the prices either on such quality! Great staff and service. I love this place,

Tom C.

Yelp
We stopped by while waiting for the restaurant next door to open for dinner. The staff was awesome and provided some great advice for coffee. Took a bag home, and now wish we had bought more!
google avatar

William H.

Yelp
This is a terrific coffee house. The furnature is the metal outdoor type, and not very comfortable, but everything else is great. When they're roasting, the whole village of Hazelwood smells like roasting coffee, and the shop, itself, is heavenly. Try the Deep Creek Blend, a dark roast worthy of the name. Big Creek is almost as good, a medium roast, or city roast, that's got a nice nose, and a lingering flavor. There's an Organic Peruvian Decaf that is so good, you'll have a difficult time telling it's a decaf. If you're ever lucky enough to visit Waynesville, don't miss The Village of Hazelwood, and its small treasure, Smokey Mountain Roasters.
google avatar

Jeremy D.

Yelp
I personally can't stand the smell of coffee but I am often with clients that just have to have some! Everyone seems to really like this place so being as I can't drink something that smells so bad to me, I will defer to the opinions of those that are with me that love their java! So it gets a five star rating from me!

Chris R.

Yelp
Visited this great coffee shop on a whim and I'm happy I did. Very good coffee at a great price and a friendly staff too boot. Will definitely return if I'm ever in the area again.
