A super cosy mountain lodge/hotel. Very friendly staff and good local food.

Location is great, would give more stars if I could. Our room lacked character, plus few bulbs were not working and hand soap was empty. Staff is friendly and helpful, but sometimes might speak very little English. Breakfasts are great, dinners are okay, except the days when they have a buffet, then it is solid 5 stars.

Ok, the rooms are not too bad : quite large with an okay bathroom (you can still shower while brushing your teeth and using the toilet at the same time but that's the way here, so okay). The common parts are nice, even though some of them are not really heated so you can't really use them, but let's say it's okay as well. ||The location is nice, on the side of a lake and just next door to Rondane national park. ||Now the down points : food is average, and it's not as if you can really go anywhere else since the nearest place to eat is probably at least 15km (and that's to find a service station), wifi is terrible, I've literally never seen such a slow speed, and that's when it works... Most of the time it doesn't.  I think it is one of those thing allowing 2 or 3 people at a time, so when the place if full (around 40 people I would say we were), then you can just wait for your turn... That never comes...||And last but not least : the staff (owners probably) is terribly unwelcoming... When we arrived we were literally said NOTHING... Like time for breakfast or dinner, menu, weather, nothing... We were actually barely talked to... And when we had the audacity to ask what time the breakfast was, we were said "it's written here !" Showing us a sign in Norwegian (honnestly, totally unguessable when you are French...). Only exception to the terrible staff was a little waitress that talked to us briefly (and in hiding, as if being friendly was kind of frowned upon for some insane reason...)||Oh, and the wine is terrible also, so you can't really forget your troubles using that, either...||Oh-again : and the place is overpriced...||Not recommended !

Me and my wife went for a weekend trip to what we thanks is one of the nicest and most easy to get to place in the Norwegian moutains. Very good food and service at this reportasjer. Lots of easy routes to walk and posibilitys to climb on some peaks up to aprox 1700 - 1800 meters. This was our 3rd wisit and we will come back.

We stayed here in June for two nights and really liked it. The hotel and the rooms are rustic and simple but very spacious. The staff was very helpfull and welcoming. We are both vegetarians and they made really tasty falafel just for us. If you want to bring your own food there are also rooms with a kitchen. The landscape around the hotel is stunning and provides easy access to several hiking routes through Rondane national park.

The property is situated in an amazing setting. Situated at the footsteps of the Rondane mountains, so there are beautiful sites all around! There are many hiking possibilities, lakes, a river 4km away. So plenty to do! ||I rented an appartment (studio) as I wanted to be able to cook (instead of eating in the restaurant). The studio seemed to be refurbished recently. It included a kitchenette with a microwave/grill and small dishwasher. The appartment was good. But, it was not clean! The garbage had been removed. But the coffee machine had clear coffee marks from its last use, the kitchen surface was dirty with bits of food. The dishwasher had dirty dishes (not badly washed, just not washed at all), the toilet and shower had also dirt spots, even found a pot in the kitchen cupbord which still had spots of tomato on it (it looked as if it was quickly rinsed, but not washed at all). By roughly checking the other reviews, I see that most people didn't not have this issue, so maybe I was unlucky. But that made my stay very unconfortable.

If you are up to the authentic Norwegian mountain life- here is the place for you. Take your skies and enjoy! Don’t forget a bathing suite for hot tube experience and icebath, if you feel for it! Enjoy every moment :)

Stayed two night at this marvellous mountain resort, that will say one night at their Arctic Dome close by towards Høvringen. Smuksjøseter is so unique close to the Rondane mountain massive near by. The hotel offers good food, friendly staff and owners, and a silent time in the wilderness on the top of Norway. Ski tracks just outside the door - and nature is just waiting for you! Perhaps Miss Piggy will tell you her favourite ski track?
