Snaps American Bistro

Have not been to snaps in a while. My family and I had a fantastic meal. The burgers fries Mac n cheese and crispy chicken cutlets with pesto pasta and burrata were perfection. Will be back! Definite gem!

Loved every dish from Appetizers to Dessert! Our Server Zach was so sweet and kind and was very attentive. Service was Great and with a smile. Started with A crispy Kale salad, Gnocchi and Chick pea fries, oh my goodness! Followed by The Beef Wellington. It was cooked to perfection! We had Bread pudding, Ice cream and a Cannoli for dessert! I've never been so stuffed. Great dining experience. Zach was amazing. Food. 100 stars! Will be back! Thank you!

My family had a good experience at Snaps. The food was good and the restaurant was very well kept. I will admit my husband and I started to become a little impatient looking for our server from time to time. As for parking, I saw a sign depicting there was more parking in the back, but I never saw it for myself. The front has very minimal parking. Everything else was pretty good.

Honestly, if you want to have great drinks, great food and great night, this is a great place ! Sitting at the bar is where I sat and the service was amazing! If you want a great meal for an amazing price, get the adult happy meal, you get a martini, a salad and truffle Parmesan fries and my goodness I devoured the food ! 10/10 would go back to try something else !! They have amazing deals so I highly recommend!!!

Food was just okay here. Person who ate Tacos said they were good but salty same thing with the shrimp dish. Good but too salty. I had the sea bass but it was grilled and on top of quinoa. Not moist. They don't have American cheese for the children's dishes, so neither of the two children with us could eat their food. Grilled cheese, sandwich and Burger.

They certainly give you plenty of food with your order. We had crispy dumplings, octopus, and chili wings as apps. The dumplings were my favorite. For the main course, I had the chicken milanese, and it was awesome. For dessert, we ordered the coconut bread pudding and the creme brulee (which i had to look up the spelling for). Everything was great, but my absolute favorite was the coconut bread pudding it was fire! The service was also very, very good. The only 2 slightly negative things i would say about this place are, 1. It was a little noisy in there, so not the ideal place for a romantic dinner, and 2, they could give you a little more creme brulee. The spoon hit bottom as soon as it got past the crust. Definitely not a deal breaker, and I would 100% recommend!

Snaps "snapped", sorry to say. So stand by for the "good, great, bad and the ugly"... Father's Day was not how we would have liked it... The place was not even half full, we were seated right away in a back("overflow room") why? It took a couple inquires and over 1/2hr to get a server, not off to a good start! Finally an apologetic server(Frank) was apparently filled in to help us. He was very thorough, took our drink order, helped out with our food choices and was well versed on the menu which was a pleasure (even though he was not dressed for the part). We had a good sampling of the drink menu and most items on the somewhat limited dinner menu( see pic). Btw, the drinks were quite unique and refreshing. Very cool drinks like the Oyster Bay Brewery summer peach, the Bacon Bourbon Mash, and the New Bond, all excellent. Unfortunately thats where it ended until the dessert drinks. Let me explain: 1st apps; lamb chops special were the thinnest I've ever had, not appetizing(bad). The crispy wontons recommended by Frank were nothing special much better at your local Chinese restaurant. Now the ribs were good, the grilled octopus was very good, and the chickpea fries were excellent! The Warm lobster knuckle sandwich was not all cracked up to, the Grilled shrimp was hardly grilled( too bad), the Grilled NY strip presented well(see pic) however very tough(ugly), advise to stay away, but the side of Roasted brussel sprouts were probably the best I've had in a long time! And I must say the burger special was great! And like I said the after dinner coffees , for example Expresso with side of sambuca and their Irish Coffee both much welcomed and just fine. So there you are...Please try this place out for yourself, keep it simple to some of the apps we were happy with and one of their burgers and you'll be happy. Don't forget to get a drink. Lmk how it goes.

Recomended by a friend and we loved it. Great staff, food and atmosphere. Highly recomended. Was hoping to try the crab wontons recomended to me but it was no longer on the menu. I think it was wonton but some kind of crab dumpling. I had the salmon, it was cooked and seasoned perfectly.

Great ambience and great food food. Everyone is always very nice and welcoming. We go at least 3 times a month.

Burgers are great here as well as appetizer choices. Service was a little slow but we went during holiday week and perhaps they were understaffed. The vibe is chill and decorative for the holidays. Happy they take reservations.

The food was great. The service was very good. Very cozy atmosphere. They catered to kids so it's kids friendly. The five-dollar burgers were very good for Thursday night. steak sandwich was fantastic. Peppermint espresso Martini was delicious. The drink menu was festive and creative. The only thing I would change was they need some padding on their benches seats and better tablecloth.

Went on New Year's Day for lunch Food was excellent, great cocktails and service exemplary. Will be returning.

Great service and diverse menu with something for everyone. It was $5 burger night and it was a stand out! Also some nice martinis on special. Chicken Milanese was a solid choice- large enough to share. Steak sandwich was good but cooked a bit inconsistent. Truffle fries were priced high at $10 for a smaller side. But they were loved by everyone. Kinda loud. Kinda rowdy. But also fun.

Easy 5 stars! We stopped in just randomly this afternoon for an early dinner and a cold drink or two. Perfect choice. The Burrito Bowls were spectacular, lots of fresh chicken, perfectly spiced, and large portions. Served inside a taco shell in a bowl. Delicious. And the warm chocolate cake with gelato was a tasty dessert alongside a hot black coffee. Nice ambiance, Excellent service. We will return!!

Bustling! Good variety on menu, friendly, nice specials! Arrive early, then relax and enjoy! Great for families/groups and smaller parties. Went on a local's recommendation and were pleased.

Nothing here to impress me. The food was average, the staff was ok. The restaurant was clean and the food came out in a decent amount of time.

SO good! My husband is 100% vegetarian whereas I'm only about 90%, which is how I'm able to give this place 5 stars. Otherwise there aren't too many vegetarian options here but the chicken and burgers are soooo good. Service is always great and they have reservations! I love that Snaps is a Wantagh staple and hope they stay around for many years to come

I had made a reservation a few weeks ago to get together with a few girlfriends for a nice brunch. When we arrived we were informed that the night before they had changed their menu and were no longer offering brunch. However, they did the right thing without our asking - - they offered us the brunch menu as an option in addition to their full menu. We were all very appreciative and several of us did order from the brunch menu. Everything we ordered -- appetizers, main meal, dessert -- was delicious and beautifully presented; portions were ample. Service was perfect - - not intrusive but attentive. It was a great experience, and I'm sure we'll be back.

Snaps is consistently a solid dinner spot. I've been coming here for years and never had a bad meal. They also still offer the $7 burger special, which is nice. Some of our favorites are the braised short rib blue cheese quesadilla, tuna tartar, steak sandwich, and basically any burger. Service is also very good. We've sat at the bar the past two times, and the bartender is always nice and helpful. Place isn't small but isn't big, so if you're looking to go with a party larger than 2, I'd make a reservation. Enjoy.

Amazing food and the different daily specials are amazing! The service is incredible and the ambiance is super comfy. You gotta come in and try the different specials!

We were there on a Thursday night which is a $5 burger night. It was jamming busy at 6:00 but we sat right away with our reservations. The wing app only comes with 5 wings and the seasoning is overpowering with salt/bbq flavor. Truffle fries for $10 is also a small portion and very salty. The snap burger was excellent!! Perfectly cooked and delicious! We never saw our waitress after she took our first drink & app order till the bill was served. I went to the bar after we finished our apps looking for our drinks as they never came. The bartender said she would send them over. Then when we wanted to order and get more food and drinks, we couldn't figure out if anyone was serving us. Finally a different waitress came and asked us if anyone took our order. She took our order and got us more drinks. When we wanted the check, we had to stand by the table when finally the original waitress came by to give us a check. We tipped 20% because we chalked it up to maybe she was a new waitress and she was in the weeds. Also, it was very loud in there. Maybe some half walls with baffles on it would help the noise. I would return to give it another try because the burger was that good!!

Very nice inside, kind of dim lighting which I like, especially for a date night. Menu is good too and haven't been disappointed with food there either. Wait staff is alway nice and you can make reservations, which is great. Good pick on the south shore.

Had a good martini and chicken Milanese which was delicious. But started with seared tuna as an appie which was fantastic. Service was polite and professional.

Chicken Milanese possibly one of the best I ever had. Overall ambiance okay and parking not ideal but overall experience was family friendly especially on discount burger Thursday. Will definitely visit again and a solid local restaurant for a quick bite.

Went with two friends for a nice meal - the place was super busy on a Tuesday night, I later found out it was because of Taco Tuesday. Pros: Food: I had Chicken Milanese and it was absolutely delicious. My friend had it as well and agreed. We shared the Bananas Foster sundae for dessert and that was delicious. Drinks: We had cabernet and coconut martinis which were delicious. Cons: Service: I kind of expected slow service after reading it in many reviews. We sat down at 6:25 and our drink order wasn't taken until 6:40 - so we missed happy hour. When we got the bill we asked about the prices, and he said the computer changes the prices based on the time, and there was nothing he could do about it. That kind of sucked considering the Martinis were $15 each! Plus he didn't really seem to care. Parking: It's a small parking lot and it was almost full when i got there at 6:15 - i got one of the last tiny spots and there were many cars coming in after me circling around. I think there are more spots around the back though. 4% Credit Card Charge - this sucks but it seems like it's becoming unavoidable these days. Overall I'd go there again, pay cash and hope for a different waiter. But the food was great and it's definitely family friendly.

Visited on a Tuesday and sat at the small 8-seat bar with my wife. The hanging lights added a nice ambiance. Taco Tuesday deals included margaritas, which were premade and heavy on sour mix--not my taste. I ordered the $45 three-course deal (wontons, gnocchi, blueberry cheesecake); wontons were well-presented, but the others disappointed. My wife enjoyed her burrata and tuna sashimi, both reasonably portioned. Service was slow--confirmed by a couple nearby who ordered four drinks at once due to delays. Wine prices were steep, with the cheapest bottle (Salmon Creek) at $40+. With only four staff for the entire restaurant, service felt scattered. Food, drinks, and service fell short for the price. Better options nearby; we won't return.

We had the $46 3 course meal which includes appetizers, main & dessert. The choices for all 3 were varied enough. We got the chopped salad which was fresh and tasty. Mains we chose was chicken milanese. The cutlet was thin, crispy and had arugula salad on top. For dessert, we both got bananas foster sundae which was excellent. I am so glad we finally found this place and will return. the only negative is 4% credit card charge so bring cash to save. Unfortunately most restaurants are adding this surcharge these days.

The food is always fresh and delicious. Best to make a reservation as the place is packed on weekends because it's so good! Well worth it.

Been going since it opened, always tasty. Burgers are excellent, entrees too and the appies are killer.

Was looking for something to eat and stumbled upon this place and I am glad I did. I was able to make a reservation through Yelp which was nice and easy. When we arrived we were seated immediately. The place was a good size with plenty of seating and a bar top option as well. We were given water right away and our table cloth was paper, which was great for a few rounds of tic tak toe, which I can appreciate. Our waitress was pleasant and told us the specials, I had my eyes set on the crispy chicken teriyaki wontons for an appetizer and the chicken Milanese for dinner, my wife opted for the short rib Wellington. I wish I could say how good the wontons were because the waitress never put in my order for it much to my dismay, however, after we pointed out the mistake she offered to have it made but with the main course already out I sadly declined and felt defeated. The chicken Milanese was great, not too heavy or oily and thin and crispy on the outside and the salad mixed with with the chicken. The short rib Wellington was amazing; the side mixed perfectly, my only complaint was my partner only offered one bite as the food was gone in the blink of an eye. All in all we will definitely be back, will make another attempt at the wontons and make sure to double check the order.

We love Snaps but there was no A/C on the night we were there. It was a very hot night and rather uncomfortable.

We love this place but just had an angry waiter, John S. Never saw him through the whole meal, which was ok but he didn't know if we wanted anything else. Very sarcastic when he grunted at us but mostly non verbal. We gave 20% tip because we have worked in restaurants but he didn't deserve it. Hostess was happy and cordial.

Been to Snaps numerous times with excellent food and service. Unfortunately food portions have definitely shrunk. I would prefer a higher price and a normal size food serving. Your beef Wellington was previously delicious and a proper size. Now it might as well be listed under appetizers.

Started with Happy Hour $7 pineapple martini and went for the prix fixe menu. Winter buratta was nice with plenty of flavor from the pesto and peppers to balance the creaminess of the cheese. Pork chop was phenomenal. Cooked to perfection, so juicy and flavorful. Amazing dinner

WOW. Perfect local dinner date night spot. The food was incredible. From our drinks to appetizers to our entrees, everything kept getting better and better. Our waitress came and served us our s'mores martinis at the table which were garnished with a chocolate rim, dipped in graham crackers, and mini marshmallow floaters. From the start we knew we'd be coming back. We shared the Parmesan truffle gnocchi and chipotle chicken empanadas for appetizers...we ended up intentionally not finishing them so we could bring them home and share with our family. For dinner I had the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and asparagus. 9/10. I would've loved for the mashed potatoes to have just a bit more flavoring or maybe even just more texture, but the lamb chops helped that out. My boyfriend had a classic cheeseburger and as picky as he is, he rated it a 10/10. A simple classic but it was cooked to perfection, had just the right amount of cheese, and of course a toasted bun. Can't wait to come back and leave some room so we can try desserts!

Went to snaps for the taco specials the picture makes them bigger than what they give you. On the website it says chips and guacamole. The waiter told me don't believe everything you see. Showed him the picture didn't care over charged me twice for drinks that were on special and was very rude to me and my family this place was recommended to me and I will not recommend this place to anyone.

Snaps is one of my favorite places, the Wantagh location to be specific. I LOVE their short rib Wellington... Oh lord is that good!! Excellent steak, burgers & salads too. Never have I had a complaint here exce it can get a little noisy at times but the food is excellent!

Food is simply amazing. Easy to get to. Good amount of parking. Food was great and very affordable.

Best eatery in Wantagh. Not sure when I'll eat something there and not enjoy it, but not anytime soon. Specials nights are fairly priced. The half pound burger is less expensive than a Big Mac. The 3 course meal is $46. And again, anything I've eaten was enjoyable. I feel like I say that a lot, but I am choosy. Yeah I can eat fried cheese somewhere and be happy, but the food here is next level.

My fellow helpers were spot on with Snaps. This is a solid place. The atmosphere is Inviting and pleasant. The staff is very professional and friendly at the same time. The food is yummy! Lots of options and it' all looks good. I loved my tuna tartare app.

I went here for restaurant week last week...what an incredible deal! I ordered the truffle gnocchi for an appetizer, the gnocchi had fresh shaved black truffles with a cream sauce. The portion size was perfect and the gnocchi was delicious. For an entree, I ordered the short rib wellington. A super cool take on this classic dish, the puff pastry was cooked beautifully and wrapped nice around the short rib. The short rib itself was good, I definitely prefer a filet but I think they did an excellent job creating this dish, I would recommend. For dessert ordered the bread pudding which was my absolute favorite!! It came out warm with some vanilla ice cream, so so so delicious. The place was pretty crowded so I definitely recommend reservations!

Really great spot. Gets really busy on some nights so parking gets tough but worth the effort. Full bar with great bartenders. Food is ridiculously good and you have to try their wings or wontons for the appetizers. Their burgers are juicy and delicious. The hanger steak is another great option. Great atmosphere in a convenient location. They have really good specials most days as well.

A group of friends went for an early dinner before a Jones Beach concert. Food was solid - everyone was happy with their pork, beef or chicken meals. Nice choice of cocktails, wines other drinks. Service was good, place conveniently located. Would recommend a visit to Snaps and personally will go back when in the area.
