My first experience in India. I had a 19-hour layover. Reading other reviews…I did not have a similar experience. I waited for a cab to pick me up, not a problem. I had plenty of time. When he found me, the driver was helpful. I was whisked away to a nearby hotel. The Star. Not 4-star but clean and necessities for a rest and shower. TV worked, all Indian channels. The room was freezing! (I’m from hot weather areas and countries) i asked for a blanket, I was brought a huge comforter. But I continued to be so cold—feet and legs were cramping.even tho I was fully dressed. After two hours of trying to make it work, I asked the front desk for a heater. I was brought a heater, with the warning to shut it off before I slept. I made it work, and did get some sleep.
Buffet was three doors down at a next hotel. Sufficient. No special orders; I was hoping for an omelet.
They were very generous with the room; I had booked for a 12-hour stay tho was told at check-in to stay as long as I needed. Had the room been warmer, I would have stayed. Very accommodating staff. I’m new to India, so I have a bit to learn of their ways. When I ask a question, their answer is to take me to direct me to what I want, rather than an explanation. It works! The price was very fair for all it included. En-suite newly marble-tiled room, R-T cab to airport, (10 min drive), complimentary litre of water, Indian buffet breakfast. And a staff that couldn’t do enough for me. Thank you to the Staff at The Star. (Some guests were not considerate of the hour that they banged doors)
