Snowdon Chalet Motel

We were a bit worried about our reservation at Snowdon Chalet ('motel'), but the reviews and price and proximity to Okemo were so perfect that we committed to a 2 night stay there. It was wonderful. I am a clean freak and I couldn't believe that walking around on the floor in barefeet, my feet remained clean. Everything was immaculate. The owner is very friendly and helpful. There are thoughtful extras everywhere - huge variety of continental breakfast items in the office for guests, basket of free treats in the room, good-size fridge and real freezer in the room, super comfortable beds and bedding, pure white hefty towels, and big room and closet and drawers. The price was incredible and we were only a half hour from Okemo. ||We highly recommend the American Grill Restaurant and the Red Slate Restaurant. The food was delicious, staff and chefs amazing, and the prices like pre-pandemic. Couldn't believe it.

The owners go to great lengths to preserve the retro theme of this motel. It's old, but very well maintained. Very clean rooms, accomodating staff, spacious grounds, and a nice continental breakfast make for a pleasant experience. ||Although we had reserved an upstairs room, the owners recognized that we aren't exactly teenagers, and encouraged us to switch to an available downstairs room to avoid carrying all of our luggage up a somewhat formindable stairs. Great suggestion! ||It made a great base location for us to explore the beautiful surroundings in southern Vermont.

Everything was perfect. Reasonably priced, and includes continental breakfast. Great location close to many mountains for skiing.| Room spotlessly clean, cool retro feel, very comfortable bed, and quiet to get a good nights sleep. Owners have done a wonderful job maintaining this place. We WILL be back!

In this part of Vermont, there are not many reasonable priced options for lodging except for this retro motel. Normally, we would have driven right by this place but after reading the reviews we decided to try it and were happily not disappointed. The owners, a friendly outgoing couple, maintain a very clean motel with excellent customer service. Our 2 queen sized bed room was comfortable, (did I mention clean) with microwave, fridge and tv. Our bathroom had the original tiles from the 1960's (super clean, no mold/mildew) & was bright and spotless with excellent shower pressure! The only issue was the shower curtain which clung to you if you had the ceiling fan on which is automatic when you turn the lights on. There is a basket of snacks for you to help yourself (no cost!) & inside the fridge, there are cold drinks which if you take one, they ask you to leave $1-2 (honor system). We have never seen this level of service! They also offer complimentary breakfast items in the office area. If we are visiting the area again, we will certainly stay here. PS-prices during the summer are VERY reasonable!!

This is a really nice place in a not so populous place of VT. Rooms are clean and well maintained. The entire property is quiet and lovely. The mini fridge has a proper freezer and fridge section. The folks running the place are friendly - pay the extra money for a good motel run by folks who aren't following a corporate playbook.

Snowden Chalet is my go spot for a great and convenient place to stay on ski trips to Okemo, Stratton, Bromley or Magic mountain. I stay there several times a year and have no reason to look elsewhere. They provide a personal touch which helps to create a special experience during our stays. The lodging is convenient, clean, well maintained with breakfast for early mornings. Jen has even gone out of her way to provide suggestions/options if things to do during bad weather days. A must stay!

The location is perfect for so many places- Bromley, Magic, Stratton, and Okemo ski areas, great shopping in Weston and Manchester, and countless opportunities for hiking and water adventures. ||I discovered Snowdon Chalet by chance when coming up to see a World Cup race at Killington. Jen, the owner, was amazing. I had to leave early in the morning to catch the race, so she made a lunch bag with a fresh muffin, snack bars, a box of juice, and a yogurt- and had it waiting for me when I got out the door at 6:00am. ||The motel has a truly hip, retro architectural vibe. The rooms are all updated, always clean, and stocked with goodies. Jen and her husband are very accommodating- the customer service here is like no where else. Very family friendly and they truly care that you’re enjoying your stay at the motel and finding great things to do in the area. ||We’ve priced other places in the area. But you really get a vastly better experience and value at Snowdon Chalet.

This place totally saved our weekend! We were tent camping nearby when the weather turned VERY nasty. We thought we might need to head back home (a three hour drive). Luckily Snowdon Chalet had a room available. We were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and comfortable our room was. Also, the owner is super nice. We would definitely stay here again.

This was a very pleasant find. These guys make you feel like you're part of the family! While traveling on motorcycles in the area, we stumbled upon this place. Simple accommodations include warm, bed, hot shower, nice size rooms, snacks, and water in the room upon arrival. Coffee maker in the room was an added bonus. Great price! Super friendly owners!

This is one of the cutest, vintage, "home away from home" motels you can find. There is literally NOTHING bad to say. We traveled over 5 hours and it was worth every minute to end up here. The owners are so nice and accommodating. lol cannot remember the last time I met two people more concerned with our well-being. This motel is even pet friendly!! Right in the middle of everything. Minutes form Magic Mountain. This is the only place we will stay!

What a gem! This place just has a great vibe. A throwback to early 1970s ski chalets, with everything you need plus charming little surprises in the office and sweet lounge areas on the upstairs porch. You can even grill out here. New owners Jen & Dom moved up from Florida in Feb 2016 and clearly are putting their hearts into this place. They are here all the time and will help you with anything you need. The guests here all seem to appreciate it and pick up on the friendly vibe, too. Nice king size bed, nice continental breakfast with PG Tips tea (among other selections), cool library and display cases, brightly colored and clean not sanitized and boring. It's just a charming place and wonderfully affordable.

Good bang for the buck. Clean and warm, friendly owner, can't complain. Don't count on breakfast here, though: tiny room off the lobby offers few options and no space.

I stay at the Snowdon whenever I ski Magic Mountain, and I've always had a wonderful experience. Pros: The rooms are clean, the showers have pressure and hot water, and the owner is very friendly and helpful. Cons: It's not a luxury hotel. It's a modestly-priced motel. The decor is straight out of 1975. The continental breakfast is milk, cereal, bagels, cream cheese, and coffee. Bottom line: If you're looking to spend most of your vacation in your room, look for a more expensive place. If you're looking for somewhere to sleep and shower during a ski trip, the Snowdon is perfect.

Clearly the people who wrote the other reviews are either high or friends of the owners. This place is like the Bates Motel from Psycho. 1960's decor with ground in grime in the bathroom and wall heating units to match. Don't get me wrong, the manager is very nice guy but this is barely habitable IMHO. The hot water didn't work so no hot showers. The TV/cable didn't work until the mgr came to jiggle the cable cord that attached to a Radio Shack gizmo box. The bathroom is small and dirty. The beds sag and have bedspreads from the. 70's. Granted the $125/ night is cheap but at some point there's no reason to pay even that. We tried to leave but due to Xmas season there were no reasonable alternatives. My strong advice - Don't stay here.

We were on our way up to stay with friends in Ludlow when we ran into a snowstorm en route. We turned back and stopped at the first place we could find. Every element of this place is worst than the next. From creepy Larry checking us in and not provided any sort of discount considering we arrived at 5am and were only looking to get off the treacherous road for a few hours. No AAA rate or discount. $150 to stay in this dump for 4 hours. I highly suggest not bringing a blue light to scan the comforters. In fact wearing a hazmat suit might be a good idea before you enter their rooms. I'd only recommend this place if the Bates motel is already full. Larry will undoubtedly haunt me for years to come.

I had a wonderful experience at the Snowdon Chalet. The owners were incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and hospitable people- I can't say enough good things about them! They went out of their way to ensure our group had a comfortable stay. Our room was quiet and peaceful, and reasonably priced for our weekend trip to Stratton Mountain. I'll definitely be making a return trip!

Jen and Dominic, who run the place, are some of the most pleasant people I have ever met in my life. They spent the whole weekend helping people get around, and making sure everyone got home from the mountains safe, in the hail and snow. They run a wonderful place and truly care about the people who stay with them. All they ask is that you treat them and their property with respect. Also, they are really funny, tell them a good story and they will tell you one as well.

Clean, simple, affordable rooms with exceptionally friendly and considerate owners. We came back a second year to visit swimming holes at Emerald Lake, the Quarry, Hapgood Pond, and drinking coffee at Ungrounded Coffee and the bookstore in Manchester. The hikes are great as well. We'll be back.

Nothing fancy, buts it's clean and close to Stratton and the owners were very friendly when we arrived. Overall a good stay and a good place to crash when away for a ski weekend.

The SNOWDON Chalet was a fantastic and memorable experience. The owner was as kind as could be, even upgraded my room to fit my needs! 11/10 would recommend, if you are taking a skiing/snowboarding trip to Vermont, this is your only option.

A hidden treasure! We found this place online when arranging our trip to Okemo. The owner is fantastic and the rooms are exactly what I would expect for a ski weekend. Clean, basic accommodations - very unique and comfortable.

Clean, basic accommodations with very nice owner who takes pride in his place, including the traditional and hydroponic gardens he is cultivating. We were pleased with the proximity to our VT adventures at Bromley and Lowell State Park. There was also a selection of non-sugary cereals in the AM. When we had some items stolen at the lake, we were touched with the owner's offer to let us stay an extra night for no charge (which we did not need), his permission to overstay our checkout time while we handled things, and his friend's kind offer to lend a car, which we did use. We would stay here again and appreciate the owner's kindness and generosity.
