The Snowdonia Hideaways, Near Harlech, Wales - Explore & Book

"What a stunning spot this is! Perched on the slopes of the ancient Rhinog mountains in north Wales - one of the UK’s last and loveliest wildernesses - with soaring views over becastled Harlech, glassy Cardigan Bay and across to the misty Llyn peninsula, it’s enough to take your breath away. We know and love this part of Snowdonia, so were especially thrilled to discover these three cottages - once an old stone farmhouse and a couple of neighbouring barns, now beautifully restored - and to welcome them into our rental portfolio. Step inside, and it all looks equally airy and soaring. In the main house, a bright conservatory with open eaves, slate floors and sink-into sofas faces those mesmerising sea- and sunset views: nature's cinema. Inside are ancient beams, snow-white walls, a vast hearth with woodburner, and 3 cosy upstairs bedrooms with sash windows. In both the old farmhouse and barn, a double height living space with more huge windows and a romantic mezzanine bedroom. All have kitchens, picnic tables, grassy gardens and endless fresh air: perfect for outdoorsy couples and families. As one guest so poetically put it: "From the amazing scenery to the spectacular sunsets, these cottages refresh the soul." We'll join you on the waiting list for that. Highs We especially love the look of the main house: the rustic-chic furnishings are just right for the setting The glass gable in the farmhouse draws the light in and makes it feel bigger than it is Handy touches include Welsh woollen blankets, satellite TV, a washing machine and hairdryer From the rocky summits and tarns of the Rhinogs to the endless sands of Harlech beach, this is paradise for hikers and swimmers Owner Emily calls these "the best views in Snowdonia", and we can't disagree Lows Such remote beauty means a long drive in: 3 hours from Manchester or Birmingham, 5 hours from London Those views might not be so breathtaking on a cloudy day; you’re at 300m altitude here Stays are strictly Saturday-Saturday in summer and during school holidays" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

The Mrs and I had 5 nights in the smaller loft accommodation. |Lovely place, location is amazing and it was a great base to explore this part of North Wales from. |You’ve got everything you need for basic cooking and the facilities are top notch. |Highly recommended and we will likely be back as I’ve got some unfinished business with some local mountains to attend to!

We just returned from what was an amazing little break. The lodge is stunning, the views amazing and while we only met the hosts briefly, they seemed lovely. If I could, though, could I offer two constructive suggestions? We are all for doing our bit recycling, but the bins weren't clearly marked what each one was for. So when it said in the confirmation email that we are liable to unspecified charges if we put something in the wrong bin we were concerned as we didn't need or want that anxiety of getting extra charges put on us. So we got a bin bag and took all our rubbish home with us (where ironically it now won't be recycled at all as it was all in one bin bag. No one should go on holiday (at a cost of £165 a night) to then drive home with a bin bag of rubbish I'm sorry. The second suggestion is this is the only lodge we've stayed in where there was no welcome basket. I know it isn't required but it's a nice little touch to arrive to some local eggs, milk, bread or whatever. All in all though these two things don't knock any stars off what was a 5 Star experience so thank you 😃

Loved my stay. The house is at a very beautiful location overlooking a big patch of farms and a huge water body far off. The effort to get there is certainly fruitful. Katy is an awesome host. My parents and I definitely recommend the property especially the hot tub. It was comforting and I would definitely visit again.

Came here for a weekend holiday, and it was relaxing. The host, Katy, was there to meet us, and is lovely. The views from the cottage across to the sea are amazing, and we had a few walks into the hills and down the beach. Stand out point was the wood fired hot tub. We spent quite a while in that. There is Internet, and it's proper quick, and the TV has all the streaming apps you could want, so if its raining, there is always something to watch.... We loved it, and left relaxed and chilled. Very happy, and would come again...

Absolutely fantastic! When we arrived we felt instantly welcomed as Katy came out to greet us and show us where everything was, then when we settled after our journey we felt instantly relaxed. The view is great where you are, along with the sounds of nature, really tranquil. It’s really cosy and everything smelled fresh, and the block just outside has a nice shower and toilet which had lovely clean towels waiting. We enjoyed a lovely evening outside next to the fire pit with a glass of wine, and although it was quite cloudy when we went, is a great place to look up at the stars. There are so many options for activities depending on your interests, you can go out for walks and enjoy the local landscape, or visit Tywyn and see the train museum, play crazy golf, try honey ice cream, and more - search “Tywyn Gwynedd”. Tywyn is about a 10 min drive away, and there’s a car park which is £4 for 8 hours. Or you can even walk for around 10 mins from Snowdonia Hideaway itself to a train station for a running Steam Train service! You can buy a ticket from the conductor and travel freely on the Steam Train line for the day, stopping off for walks and food along the way - search “Talyllin Railway” for full info. (This was my favourite activity, however if you try the walks along the train line I advise having your phone showing you the way back to the nearest station, as there are multiple routes which are not signposted as well as they could be.) If the weather’s bad, you can stay in and enjoy the view and the sound of the rain from inside your cosy venue, or watch Netflix or Disney, or ask Alexa to play you some music. I can’t recommend this place enough, and Katy and family really are great hosts who really do go the extra mile to help and make sure you enjoy your stay.

A beautiful weekend in the most comfortable and cosy cottage. The hot tub was lovely and the cottage had everything you needed for a stay. We will be back… even if just for the sunset

A wonderful mini break at the Snowdonia Hideaway. Perfectly placed for our walking holiday. Superb views and lovely facilities. |Compact accommodation but it has everything you could want. Bed was really comfortable with Wifi and TV to keep us entertained. My friend was delighted to be able to eat al fresco around the fire pit. |Such a wonderful view from the balcony, we will definitely be back !

I came and stayed here with my partner for my first time in Wales from Norwich, Norfolk (he is welsh so who better to come with!) and it was nothing but perfect. Katy and her family are so lovely and couldn’t of been more welcoming. The crogloft is so cosy and comes with everything you need for a nice self catering break. The views from the outside deck and around Wales in general are what sold it for me and exceeded my expectations - beautiful sunrise over the outside deck; perfect for breakfast, and a gorgeous sunset out the front in the evening which you can sit and watch from a perfectly placed bench. I was thrilled to know there was a fire pit as I’m a sucker for a peaceful evening outside with nothing but the sound of a fire crackling (I took advantage of this every night). The bathroom is outdoors but is no where near as cold as you would imagine. Get dry quickly after a shower and you’re warm in no time. Take a dressing gown too! All in all I couldn’t of asked for anything more from Katy or this accommodation. It has succeeded in making my first trip to Wales more than I could of wished for. I 100% recommend! Thank you Katy & family for having us; we hope to be back soon! Rob & Jeremy
