"Snug Harbor Inn is the cozy boutique property every traveler dreams of staying in. It has just six rooms, meaning each guest is always the star of the show. Each room is individually decorated giving them all a unique feel, but there is still a cohesive vibe thanks to coastal decor, royal blues, and some with an ocean view." - Travel + Leisure Editors

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful experience staying at Snug Harbor Inn while visiting Catalina to celebrate his birthday. We arrived on the early ferry and were delighted to find that we had been upgraded to an ocean view room and would be able to check in immediately which was so nice. The room was cozy without feeling cramped and had everything we needed for our stay. We especially enjoyed the 4 PM snacks and wine delivery to our room. Overall an excellent stay, highly recommend!!

We are frequent visitors to Catalina Island and we generally stay at a couple of the other luxury hotels in Avalon, such as the Inn at Mt. Ada and Hotel Vista Del Mar. This trip was a quickie so we decided to try a new place. What a pleasant surprise! Snug Harbor Inn is just a few steps off the main harbor front. Cheerful surroundings, super clean and just plain comfortable in every way. The staff are all friendly and helpful, the morning and evening snack trays are presented beautifully (and very tasty!), and the whole place is bright and spotless. It feels very private. There is a nice lounge area with coffee and tea, as well. One note: The Inn is upstairs and there is no elevator but the staff is always willing to help with your bags. They sent us text messages before, during and after our stay to make sure we were happy in every way. We like the place a lot and will definitely be back to try some of the other rooms!

My fiancée and I stayed here for the weekend while we were in town for a wedding. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our stay at Snug Harbor Inn. My first time in Avalon, so it was perfectly located to where we could walk to everything we needed within a few minutes. The hospitality was great from the moment we walked in. We really loved the afternoon wine and charcuterie board as well as the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Most of my friends stayed at other hotels and were very jealous of our location, the amount of space we had, and the complimentary services received. The space is a little older than a newer hotel down the street, but I would stay here again next time for sure. Fantastic all around!

This place is perfect. Small with only 6 rooms, but it's very personable. It felt like we were the only people there. From the entrance, to our room, we felt special. The staff helped with our luggage, which was very helpful. Brought us a lovely appetizer tray with wine or cider at evening time, and a wonderful continental breakfast in the morning. You can serve yourself coffee or tea at anytime in the lovely small seating area. The room is quite roomy with a sitting area and the most comfortable bed ever. The bathroom shower and jetted bath was sublime. The rooms even have a beautiful fireplace that was super easy to use. The location is the best part. So close to all shopping and food and, basically everything. We will definitely be back

Snug Harbor is the gem of Catalina. There are only 6 rooms so the personal service is outstanding. Juan goes out of his way to make your visit wonderful. Breakfast of your choice delivered every morning. Wine/cheese delivered every afternoon. Comfy rooms with a fireplace. Location is close to all restaurants and activities. Anyone who doesn’t have a great time here has other issues. This was our second time here - for our anniversary. We will be back.

The hotel is tucked away upstairs but still with ocean view access. The rooms are well appointed, service is amazing, the breakfast and wine and cheese service is an awesome touch. The hotel location is within walking distance to everything and has rooms with ocean views as the hotel is quaint and charming. The hotel is located on the second floor of its building. ||As it is located on the main road and across from ocean, it’s not quiet. If you want to hear waves crashing, it comes with a price of hearing everything and everyone else too.

Very small, cute hotel. Really enjoyed the wine & snacks, also the breakfast in bed. They have DVD rental available & that was a very nice touch. Room was small, cozy, but had everything we needed. Loved the fireplace and jet tub. AC worked good. Service was very kind and professional. They also offer to store luggage for you for free - really helpful, thank you!!!

The Snug Harbor Inn on Catalina Island was the perfect choice for our honeymoon. This intimate, couples-focused hotel provided exactly the romantic getaway we were dreaming of. From the moment we arrived, we knew we'd made the right decision. Juan, the concierge, deserves special recognition for making our stay extraordinary. His attentive service and genuine care for guests truly enhanced our experience. The thoughtful touches throughout our stay were memorable – the complimentary wine and cheese service was a lovely way to unwind each evening, and having breakfast delivered to our room every morning made us feel pampered and special. What sets Snug Harbor Inn apart is its dedication to creating a romantic atmosphere for couples. No detail was overlooked, and the adults-only environment helped maintain a peaceful, intimate setting. The location is ideal for exploring Catalina while still feeling like you're in your own private retreat. We couldn't have chosen a better place to begin our married life together. If you're planning a romantic getaway or honeymoon, the Snug Harbor Inn delivers an unforgettable experience that will exceed your expectations. We'll always treasure the memories we made here.

Yelp
Really great service, cozy room & nice stay overall. It's not ADA accessible, you have to go up some stairs and there's not an elevator. We stayed 1 night in the Santa Cruz room and it was very cozy. Wine & snacks delivered straight to our room, along with a lovely breakfast. They have free DVD rental with a nice selection to choose from. They also will store your luggage for free. The room had a fireplace & jet tub, the AC worked good. Overall I loved my stay here and it was a great choice for a romantic getaway! Communication was good. Service is great. We booked their spa package at the Catalina sea spa & I definitely recommend doing so!

Yelp
Everything is perfect here! Small, cozy, very clean. Charming rooms ( we've stayed in 2). Highly recommend

Yelp
We stayed in the San Nicolas Suite for our mini-honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect! Smaller room, but we were on the island to explore and sleep (wink, wink) so didn't need an elaborate room. There was a nice little sitting area with a table and chairs overlooking the beach and boardwalk area. From our full-ocean-view room we could see the Casino, the Pier, the ocean waves, we could people watch and enjoy the twinkle lights that lit up at night with soft quiet music playing. It was so relaxing and sweet. We were welcomed to a flickering fireplace, light jazz music and a welcome appetizer spread on our table. Juan was absolutely the perfect host for our stay. We didn't lack for anything. He even helped us re-arrange our trip home. Such a kind and caring man. Our stay was really warm and bright blue skies, we enjoyed our early light breakfast and then explored as much as we could, came back to the room for the 3:00 snacks served in our room. We opened up the windows so we could feel the ocean breeze through our room and cool off before heading out to have an early dinner and go for a nice long walk. The boardwalk was quiet at night, we slept with our windows open and never had any surprise craziness below. We were there from Tuesday through Friday, so weekends may be a different story. Our stay at Snug Harbor included the trip over on the Catalina Express, which was really nice so we didn't have to try to coordinate. One less thing to worry about when planning a wedding and honeymoon. The price for the Inn was reasonable and the location was perfect and centrally located to everything we wanted to experience. Please please please give Juan our gratitude for his fantastic hospitality. The entire staff was warm and welcoming though. We WILL be back! XOXOXO

Yelp
This is a five star hotel experience . Amazing views of the beach while you have complimentary breakfast. Staff very friendly and was able to hold our luggage before and after our stay. It's pretty hard to walk around carrying everything if you arrive earlier or need to check out but your ferry isn't ready to leave yet. Food was great and very clean comfy room.

Michael W.

Yelp
This is an adorable inn, right on the water. The staff was fantastic... friendly and attentive. They bring a continental breakfast to your room in the morning, and a glass of wine with nibbles for happy hour. Conveniently close to everything. Highly recommend.

Momma H.

Yelp
It was an unexpected cozy stay. The getting was amazing. Wine and cheese! The breakfast was so good. Simple but so good!!! Slept well and had a great time there.

Yelp
Absolutely perfect place and fantastic service. Blonde girl working at the desk was amazing

Yelp
The customer service at this hotel truly makes you feel pampered and taken care of. Without a doubt one of the best stays I've had in a while. Our room was ready for us to check in by 10am at no additional cost as opposed to 3/4pm like most places. When we entered our room, they had a bottle of champagne, balloons, and a card congratulating us for our recent marriage. We left for a few hours and when we got back to our room, we had 2 glasses of wine and a small charcuterie board waiting for us. They delivered this every day of our stay. The following morning, they brought us breakfast to the room and set it up really nicely. Breakfast was on time and delivered exactly at the time frame we had selected. Front desk had beach chairs and towels that they let us borrow for the day. They also had a variety of DVDs available for guests (be sure to get it front them before they leave for the night.) We had a romantic movie night with the fireplace on and a great view. Overall, I would definitely stay here again. This hotel goes above and beyond to ensure you have a pleasant, relaxing stay.

Allana M.

Yelp
Warm inviting cozy inn. Way more comfortable and well managed than we expected. Very clean and very polite staff. The continental breakfast and happy hour was way above our expectations. The renovations were current and well done. We will definitely stay again!

Yelp
The Snug Harbor Inn is truly one of Avalon's gems. We stayed in the Anacapa Suite and it was lovely, clean, and spacious. I've read other reviews about it being hard to sleep at night due to noise coming from the street be we had no trouble sleeping at all. (Granted, we did come during the week rather than a weekend). The building and interior were incredibly charming, and the service is top notch. I've never stayed at a hotel quite so small but it was wonderful to have such individualized attention. I'll be sure to return if I ever visit Catalina Island again!

Yelp
We had our honeymoon here and are planning a return on our 10th anniversary this year. I loved our stay, it was, as the name suggests, snuggly. The rooms are charmingly decorated and their beds are a dream, literately. One of my favorite things they do is deliver a darling basket of breakfast yummies every morning. In the evening they had wine and hors d'oeuvres. We felt like we were the only ones there, very private and quiet. I can't wait for their calendar to open up for November, this is the year we finally return. Really looking forward to our trip.

Yelp
We booked a trip to Catalina for my birthday and found this cute hotel to stay at. It was very clean, cute, and centrally located...three of my favorite things. The workers were all very nice and helpful. We were able to check in early which was great but if you cant check in early they are flexible and will allow you to drop your luggage off unit check in. We stood in the Santa Catalina Room which was perfect, it was a corner room with beautiful harbor views. While we were there we were able to watch a concert from our window. The hotel provided a beautiful breakfast with granola, yogurt, fresh baked bread, coffee, oj, and mill. It was a perfect start to our day. They also brought us daily wine with cheese meat and crackers which I thought was a nice touch. Since they don't have turndown service because of covid they also come by and bring you chocolates and water. We loved everything about this place and will definitely return!

Karri P.

Yelp
Stayed here for a special occasion this July. The hotel itself is absolutely adorable. The staff knew it was a special occasion for us & went out of their way to make it even more special. Kellie met us when we arrived & again went above & beyond. They brought o d'oeuvres to our room @ 4pm & the morning breakfast was amazing, freshly baked banana bread with fruit, granola, yogurt, juice & coffee. We will absolutely be back!

MaryAnn B.

Yelp
We had a lovely time at Snug Harbor Inn. We celebrated my birthday. They let us check in early which was awesome. Lots of special touches to make everything nice. And the bed was really comfortable. The breakfast was perfect, delicious coffee, warm poppy seed bread, orange juice, granola and fresh fruit. I loved the location, sometimes it nice to be walking distance to the beach, shopping and great restaurants. Our favorite restaurant was the Lobster Trap. Highly recommend!

Diane H.

Yelp
It is exactly like the photos! The wine was delicious and appetizer plate was great too! Not to mention the breakfast they delivered to us this morning. And we get to do it all over again one more day and night! We will definitely come back to this adorable spot

Regine A.

Yelp
I had an amazing experience at the Snug Harbor Inn. Easy access to the shops on the boardwalk and just a minute away from the beach! Every staff member I encountered was delightful and eager to help! Thank you! I highly recommend staying at the Snug Harbor Inn!

Meg S.

Yelp
Had the most wonderful stay here. Breakfast and wine and cheese were great. The beds were very comfortable. We were literally across the street from a dance club but we slept like babies due to a good noise machine and solid windows. Location was great, right near the beach. The staff was awesome too.

Elannie L.

Yelp
My husband surprised me with a wedding anniversary trip to Catalina island. He had purchased the Romantic package. The Santa Cruz room was clean and well stocked. We had received complementary slippers, & eye masks. The hotel provided a complementary breakfast each morning, & in the afternoon, a wine and cheese platter was delivered. The assistant manger Juan, was very hospitable and took great care of us. Amy was very friendly and accommodating too. Top notch customer service! I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Quality Street S.

Yelp
Thank you so much Juan for a great welcome I really enjoyed my stay here great room, great ambiance, Will come Back I stayed in the Santa Barbara suite very cozy loved it thanks

Ashley Y.

Yelp
It's very cute. We stayed for a few days. We were able to check in early and the rooms are adorable. Each day they set out coffee and snacks for you and bring you breakfast in bed! The downsides are the windows don't block all the outside noise and the curtains are not blackout. Besides that the views are fantastic and we had so much fun!

Julie D.

Yelp
Very quaint Inn in the heart of Avalon's beachfront. The San Clemente room is exactly as pictured on their website. Note you may be reminded how out of shape you are as you carry your bags up a couple of flights of stairs, rooms are not empty for 72 hours prior to your check-in (COVID), and the water pressure is what it is so no jet tub for me as it would have taken 2 hours to fill. There was a hole in the rubber bath mat and marks on the headboard where folks clearly rested their head. All that said I liked the place. Yes, it was noisy when you opened the windows but during COVID it was nice to be able to air out the room for hours as we went zip lining. They accommodated cider for wine and added hummus as I'm vegan. The morning breakfast was beautifully done in a basket delivered to your door. Every single staff member I spoke to was beyond courteous.

Shirin A.

Yelp
The hotel is cute, it's comfortable and cozy. We stayed in the Anacapa and the bed is super comfortable and a nice touch with music and nice gas fireplace that is conveniently by the bed to turn on or off. The breakfast basket was a nice touch, but if you are diabetic, watching your weight it would not be a healthy option. Pros: Cozy, comfortable and nice staff Cons: Noisy night club and breakfast not Diabetic or healthy. But definitely a come back place and would recommend. ***Note to management: hard boiled eggs, bran muffins, and almond milk flavored creamers would be a nice substitute. Thanks!

Miss Maggie C.

Yelp
Awesome, awesome place!! We got the Santa Cruz room, which had a partial ocean view. The room was a little small, but very nice and cozy with its great decorations and the fireplace and plush bed, and what I really loved was the electric sign next to the door that you can change to, "Do not disturb." They also had a nice jacuzzi tub and free VHS rentals from the front desk, as well as free wine and cheese every afternoon. They really go all out on their complimentary breakfast too. You get to specify what time you want breakfast, and there's orange juice, yogurt with granola, coffee, bread, and a lot more that I can't remember, all put nicely in a small basket. They even sent me a little note afterwards to welcome me back and they mailed it so it resembled a message in a bottle: a plastic bottle filled with a little bit of sand and shells, with the note in it. Creative!! The only thing that disappointed me a little was that when I got there, our rooms weren't ready even though it was 3pm already. This place is pretty pricey, but so worth it.

Yelp
My bride and I just stayed at snug Harbor inn for our honeymoon. The Snug Harbor Inn folks could not have been more accommodating. They specifically asked for our arrival time so a bottle of champagne on ice was waiting for us. We stayed in the San Nicholas suite with a perfect view of the ocean and a fireplace. The gas fireplace had a convenient switch to turn it off or on. Each morning, management brought in a delicious breakfast with coffee to enjoy. There is also a Keurig available for coffee as early as 6am each day. Every afternoon around 5 PM, there is a gathering place to enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres with the other guests at the end. We met some really nice people and had great conversations this way. The staff were so great and very courteous. They made sure every one of our needs was met. The location of snug Harbor inn is perfect. It is right in the middle of town, and literally everything is within walking distance. We walked all the way to the private Descanso beach, past the casino. All of the local restaurants and bars are within blocks. We even walked all the way out of town to a nearby hiking and camping destination. I would highly recommend this place and hopefully can come back and stay here again myself someday.

Andy M.

Yelp
Highly recommend this boutique hotel to anyone looking for a luxurious weekend getaway. Prime location, amazing views, and top notch service from the hotel staff made this stay one of the best hotel experiences to date.

Jeffrey J.

Yelp
My wife and I just finished our anniversary stay at Snug Harbor. A lovely little hotel with a B&B vibe right in the heart of the Avalon waterfront district. Super-friendly, helpful staff; nice, updated rooms; scrumptious little continental breakfast presented with nice flair. Only things keeping it from getting 5 stars are things that they might not be able to help: Can get a little noisy right above all the pedestrian activity below; internet really slow (but that might be the whole island); and they seemed a little understaffed (but, again, that's all of Catalina right now). But we'd definitely have no qualms about booking here again.

Gen L.

Yelp
Truly the best experience I've ever had, anywhere! Everything from dropping off our bags with Ryan before check in, to the moment we left! Everyone here is so on top of their game and they are also just genuinely really nice people. Gerardo was super helpful and approachable. Cleanliness was amazing too!

Leah a.

Yelp
They have exceeded my expectations from the beginning. Originally I called to inquire about the property as I've been coming to Catalina for 40 years and never knew of this little 6 room B&B. I was lucky to have Kellie on the other end of the phone line who was patient and able to tell me so much about the different accommodations they offer. She wasn't at all bothered by the lengthly call that ended with me saying " I'll call back once I decided". When I did call back Kellie was unavailable so Juan said he would assist. Hmmm I was worried that I wouldn't get the same level care but he quickly proved me wrong and was amazing. we chose the Santa Barbara suite. The level of service already was impeccable. I could hardly wait to arrive. Thoughts of doubt running through my head on our way boat over. After all the years at a different hotel, I was nervous wondering if I made the right choice. Well we arrived and barely steeped foot in the doorway of Snug Harbor Inn and down the stairs runs Steve to help us with out luggage. What a nice friendly greeting! Then as we went to check in we were greeting by an amazing woman. Mary was a breath of fresh air, immediately I knew we were in good hands. Charming and very welcoming. There was no hesitation or mention about us being over an hour and a half early for check-in. We were immediately shown to our room. As stated not too big but what a view! Plus they remembered from my call that we were celebrating my boyfriends bday. There was champagne and balloons. I was so pleasantly surprised! The room has a huge flat screen tv, sitting area and a jacuzzi tub, they made the most of the space. The overall feel of the entire B&B was fabulous. We were very comfortable. The wine and cheese cocktail hour was so sweet. An individual platter of olives, cheeses, crackers and nuts per room. We ended up bringing some top shelf alcohol choices and had an amazing time getting to know some of the other guests...The breakfast delivery is so quaint. You choose the time the night before and they bring you a breakfast basket including freshly baked bread, juices, fruit, granola, yogurt and coffee. It was a great bonus. This place aims to please! They went overboard and assisted with anything we needed. They even have great movies to check out at the front desk for a cozy night in! This place is a hidden gem. Service with a smile at every turn! We'll be back...

Andrew M.

Yelp
Wonderful stay. Amazing expiernce. Kristen helped us all along the way she was super helpful very polite and gave us information. She set up our wonderful breakfast. She really made our stay that much better. The room we stayed in was super cozy and romantic highly recommend staying here. Catalina is a beautiful island having a wonderful room and staff made it so much more amazing.

Jamie C.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! We came here for our honeymoon, the staff are so friendly. The views are amazing, the wine and appetizers is a nice little snack before bed and the turn down service is so sweet. I love the breakfast in bed and the little movie library they have. This place is sweet, quiet and was such a great experience for a honeymoon.

John S.

Yelp
The service here is Amazing. All the staff, Ryan and Juan have been so great. It's like you have a butler!! Our room the Saint Nicholas is perfect. It's cozy and romantic. It's been the perfect getaway!! Thank you, Ryan!!

Jay D.

Yelp
Spent a weekend here recently (in the Santa Barbara room) and I cannot say enough great stuff about this place. The staff are really accommodating and go the extra mile for their guests. B&B stuff: The staff deliver breakfast to your room every morning and you can specify at which particular time you want it, I believe the options range from 8:30 - 10:00. The breakfast consists of granola, fresh fruit, yogurt, orange juice, milk, coffee and a fresh/warm mini-loaf of bread. The first morning loaf of bread was bran (pictured) and the second morning was lemon-poppy seed. Deeeelicious! The bed was comfortable, but honestly a bit soft. The linens were clean and comfortable and the king-size bed was awesome. The fireplace was a nice touch as was the wine opener. That's what I like about B&B's, they think of everything you might forget. Like your fireplace. The daily serving of wine and cheese at about 4:00 was nice, we got to meet some of the other guests, made a little chit-chat and left around 4:30. The second night I noticed that the wine & cheese room was vacant (it doubles as the early morning coffee room) but many of the wine glasses were missing and very little cheese was left. Supporting evidence that this may truly be the island of romance and that guests tend to invest their "time" wisely. Our room overlooked the busy street below , we could hear the night club across the street, but the double-paned windows did an excellent job of quieting the ridiculous boom-boom music emitting from it. The room also had a great view of the Casino reflecting the sunrise's rosey-yellowness. In the end I tipped the staff quite generously, they had fixed a reluctant fireplace while we were out for lunch on the first day and had it working by the time we got back. Also, our morning breakfast basket (see description above) was delivered to our door at 8:30 on the dot. I swear, you could set your watch by it, not your wrist watch mind you, THE atomic clock in Colorado. Overall, I enjoyed my stay here and would do so again. I'd also recommend the Snug Harbor Inn to my friends and family.

Vy S.

Yelp
Snug Harbor Inn lives up to its name: Super snug and cozy, near the harbor, and affordable as an inn with the luxury of a hotel! What's not to love? I haven't stay anywhere else, but I would definitely return. There are only 6 rooms in this place, so it feels secluded even though it's smack dab in the middle of Avalon - centrally located to some good restaurants and a 5-10 min walk from the Catalina Express port... no golf cart needed! We arrived early so we were able to store our luggage at the inn while we explored the hiking trails before the 3pm check-in. Things that were great about this place for a 5-star rating: - Wine & Cheese/Hors D'oeurves Hour from 4-5pm (they do it every night!) - Comfortable amenities (Jacuzzi tub!) - Free DVDs for rental - Great turn down service with chocolates - Friendly and knowledgeable staff - Fresh, hot coffee ready early in the morning! - Free Wi-Fi and last but not least, the SCRUMPTIOUS Continental Breakfast...granola, yogurt, a delish carrot cake bread with butter. Awesome! And we got a hotel package, so all these perks + the Flyer tickets included? Total score! Just a note - use the earplugs if you're easily awakened and in one of the siderooms that faces the Chi Chi Club - it gets noisy around 2 a.m. from all the bar/club patrons getting out.

Emilie W.

Yelp
Such a beautiful little hotel. Everything from the views to the service and amenities was excellent!. Super comfy beds and the jacuzzi bathtubs are so relaxing! We can't wait to come back!

Emily T.

Yelp
WOULD NOT STAY HERE AGAIN OR RECOMMEND TO ANYONE. My boyfriend and I were trying to have a nice relaxing romantic trip. Instead, we wasted our money and had a really bad experience. We booked the romance package in the San Nicolas room, which is more expensive because of the view. The only thing that makes the romance package unique is there should be a bottle of champagne upon your arrival. We arrived around 9 am and our room was ready which was nice. The room is very small and the bathroom even smaller. The view of the main street and water is nice and we really enjoyed the fireplace. We asked the manager about our champagne and he said he would have it delivered when we returned from going out. So we went out and came back at 5 pm for the wine and hor d'oeuvres. Before this was delivered I tried to take a quick shower, but the water came out like a pathetic dribble. We had to get someone to fix it, which fortunately they were able to do quickly, but I was already not getting the luxury feel. The plate of hor d'oeuvres was pathetic. I was expecting at least brie cheese, but instead it was triangle slices of Colby jack, Swiss, and pepper jack as if they were from packages bought from the grocery store. It also included some Ritz crackers, grapes, a bowl of hummus, a bowl of nuts, some pieces of salami, and a few tomato/mozzarella skewers. Later we went out again for dinner and upon returning expected to take a bath in the "luxury deep tub", drink our champagne, and watch a DVD that they advertised in the package as having "unlimited DVD usage". Just after 9 pm we begin looking through the DVD options only to find they are all empty. You have to check them out, but there was no one working anymore! The front desk closed at 6. You could call their sister hotel until 9 if you needed something, but after 9 it was emergencies only. I thought we were staying at a hotel only to find out if we need anything we're on our own. No movie for us then. Next: bath. The jetted deep tub was nice, but at one point we turned off the jets and tried to turn them back on and the button wouldn't work and then the whole button came loose out of the tub. Definitely not feeling luxury or worth $600. Also at this time, no one ever made up or turned down our bed. The plate from wine/cheese was still in the room. In the morning breakfast was delivered right at the time we chose, and the yogurt/granola and fresh banana bread were nice. Unfortunately the meal takes up the only table in the room and no one comes to clear it away later, and it's not on a cart you can just roll out. We inquired about our champagne bottle again and complained about having no notice that no one would be working there after 6 pm when we were checking out at 11. The only response we got from management was that we could drink the bottle in the public lounge or take it to go. What a joke. Later the manager who we had talked to the day before and said the champagne would be in our room told us he refund us a whole $20 for the bottle if we didn't want to take it with us. I'm very disappointed with this experience. When you see on Google that it's a 2 star hotel it's not wrong.

Leidy C.

Yelp
Its almost a year that my hubby and I stayed here. I decided to plan a 4 day stay for his birthday. I'm glad I chose this place to spend our getaway. It was so cozy and warming. Every morning they would take us a basket with warm bread and fresh fruit just what a pregnant person needed :) We will definetly stay here again it made such a wonderful experience for us.

Jodi L.

Yelp
We visited Avalon for a quick weekend get-away in January when the prices are reasonable and the town is uncrowded and super chill. We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn and would suggest booking a room in the off season - I would imagine in the summer it would be quite loud with all the crowds in the center of town and so close to the beach (karaoke at the bar just down the way Fridays) - this is no way a reflection of the quality of the inn, I imagine all the hotels located in this area would be the same in the summer. I digress - the breakfast was very tasty and delivered in the cute basket like others have mentioned. The attention to detail throughout the inn make it a quality place to stay. Bose stereo, nice linens and fluffy duvet, fireplace and slippers as well as robes. We took several bubble baths in the in-room jacuzzi with jets which was a nice treat. On a side note: don't miss visiting the Casino while there it is BEAUTIFUL inside!

Yelp
I only got to stay for a night and am totally bummed that I missed the cheese and wine in the evening. Our room was nice, and for the most part clean (there were only a couple spots in the shower tile that I noticed probably hadn't been scrubbed for a while but you could only see them if you were sitting in the tub). Our breakfast was awesome and the service here was great. The reason I am not giving five stars is because I got woken up several times in the early morning because of obnoxious people standing in and walking through the street that is right outside of the inn. Now, I will say they make an attempt to aid this by providing ear plugs on the night stands to you, but I really wish they had just done a better job of insulating the window and wall that faces the street. The Jacuzzi tubs weren't that big, but they weren't incredibly small either. They get the job done. If I am ever back on Catalina I will definitely try and stay here, but I will most certainly use the ear plugs next time! The inn is conveniently located above a small drug store and in the middle of town so everything is easy access!

Yelp
I took my husband on a long weekend and wanted a hotel that had a cozy feel and was located near the ocean. The Snug Harbor Inn provided exactly what I wanted. It is located on the main street in front of the beach, at Crescent and Summer Avenue. Upon arriving we were greeted by the most amazing people, which offered to store our luggage, until our room was ready. They contacted us via cell phone, and the room was prepared earlier than their posted time. We stayed in the Santa Catalina room, ocean front, with bay windows, fireplace, Jacuzzi, and a large flat screen. It rained a few times during our April visit, and it was a nice touch to enjoy the fireplace and a large television to enjoy, while waiting for the storm to pass. We had beautiful views of the harbor, where we watched the yacht's arrive all day long. Upon leaving the Inn, we were in the shopping district, full of restaurants and a few upscale shops for clothes, shoes and beach clothing. Golf carts and bikes aren't allowed in front of this hotel, which was nice. Being in the center of the main street, everything was close and an easy walk. The staff brought us a picnic basket for breakfast each morning. Fresh baked bread, juice, yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, coffee and milk. In the evening (5 - 6 pm), they serve a small selection of wine, cheese, crackers and salami. Just enough as a pre-dinner snack. There is music, karaoke and when the bars close at 2 am, you know it. The hotel is upstairs from a karaoke bar. Even so, overall the Inn was fantastic and we will definitely visit Snug Harbor again.

Yelp
My husband and I booked our 3rd wedding anniversary trip here. We absolutely loved it! The staff were super helpful, got us in 2 hours before checkin, and they had our bags set up in the room and fire place lit when we walked in. Our room was pretty large, big tv, comfy bed, awesome jetted tub, mountain and ocean view, and beautiful decor. The breakfast is so delicious and delivered in a cute picnic basket and set up at the table for you. We were not bothered by any noise outside or in the hallway outside our door. They also let us check out 2 hours later than normal check out. We loved the whole experience and will definitely be back.

Yelp
My how time flies! It's almost been 1 year since we stayed at Snug Harbor and we are about to book our reservations again! We like to go in December, the off season. Not as many people, and the holiday decorations make for such a warm festive feeling. We did a lot of research on Catalina hotels and deals. and this is by far the BEST. In terms of customer service, cleanliness, attention to detail, food & wine, view, location, It wins 5 stars across the board. We stayed in the San Nicholas room. The fireplace was already going when the front desk receptionist ushered us to our mini palace. They had a lovely personalized note for us. We did get the romance package so a chilled bottle of champagne greeted us. The bed was very large and plush. The decorations tasteful and classy. The bathroom was just heavenly! There was a woman with a small dog so I assume they allow dogs if you have one. They have a large assortment of DVDs you can check out for a relaxing movie night. The wine and Hor d'Oeuvres in the evening were just what we needed. We brought a few small plates back to our room and enjoyed the crashing of the waves. We completely lost track of time and by the time we were hungry for dinner, everything was closed. There is a pizza place about two doors down from the entrance, they stayed up and made us a pie. We tipped them well :) and it was DELICIOUS! The only thing that was a little irritating, was the late night noise coming from the Main Street. Our window faced the street and a loud group of kids didn't want to go home. Snug Harbor had us covered, and had ear plugs and sleeping masks provided. The doorbell rang (yes, your room has a doorbell!) and our warm fresh breakfast arrived. We couldn't finish it, there was so much variety. We rented bikes and spent the day exploring the town. Some roads are steep!! Admittedly, I had a hard time biking all the way around the island. Good way to work off the banana bread! I read some yelp complaints about the hotel deposit. Have they never stayed in a hotel? The deposit is a very normal thing. Happens in every hotel we stay at. They put a $200 hold on your card. Upon departure they will release that hold. It's up to your bank to release the funds back into your account. Some banks may take up to 5-7 business days. Some hotels will take a cash deposit. I'm not sure if Snug Harbor does, but it's worth asking if you are worried about your account. Upon departure you would get your cash back immediately. Another complaint I read on yelp: switching ferry reservations. How this became an error on the hotel, I'll never know. It is common sense that you have a "cancelation window"on most bookings. If you miss that window there is going to be a charge. Duh. Overall, this hotel exceeded our expectations. I'm not sure what it's like during peak season summer, but during winter it is a perfect escape. Can't wait to book again! Thanks Alex for all of your help, we will see you soon. -good for couples -older adults -good for December holiday -dogs welcome!

Yelp
What a great find in Avalon. Staff is very accommodating, rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The included breakfast in your room is a perfect way to start your morning. Just can't say enough good things about this place. Location is perfect. Will be back for sure.

Yelp
Phenomenal inn in the heart of Avalon. We stayed in the San Nicolas suite and were simply blown away. Gorgeous view! The room was quaint (nice way to say small), but you cannot beat the view... woke up to direct views of the pier and the casino. In-room breakfast was tasty, set up on a table overlooking the shore. The hotel staff were extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive... among other things, they called us before our arrival to ask what time we expected to be on the island, then held our luggage, and phoned us once our room was ready.

Yelp
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! Had a excellent experience while staying here, when my husband and I arrived our room wasn't ready so they held our bags so we could walk round. They called us maybe a hour later, once we came back they notified us they were upgrading us to a bigger room at no cost! The room was excellent, very clean and had everything we needed to enjoy our stay. They offer wine and hor d'oeuvres in the lounge from 5-6. a red wine, Chardonnay ,and white zinfandel, different cheeses, crackers, salami, jalapeño dip and a spinach dip to die for! They have a DVD collection to choose from if you can't find a good watch on satellite. There is also a fireplace in every room, which was perfect for my stay since it started to rain a little. The staff is very nice and welcoming. I can't wait to come back, and I will definetly recommend this place to anyone!

Yelp
It could have been an easy 5 stars! Found a perfect surprise for my girlfriend on her birthday, Snug harbor inn's birthday package. There may be room for improvement but the experience was great! Regular check in time is 3 pm but we wanted to explore the island before checking in so we took the first boat trip to catalina island. We arrived the hotel at 7:45am to leave our things but no one is there assist us since their front desk opens at 8. We know that we are super early but we received a confirmation email that they expected us to arrive 7:45am. It could have been nice if someone was already there when we arrived. The lady at the front desk arrived at 8 and immediately assisted us. It was so nice that they have a place to store our luggages before check in while we walk around the island. Around noon, we received a call that our room is ready so we were really excited that we get to check in early. They already took our bags to our room. We stayed at he Santa Barbara room and it is really nice! There was a wow factor! We almost don't want to get out of the room. There were ballons and champagne on the table as part of the package but how I wish, they did not forget the gift. It may be a simple gift but it could have taken the surprise on a different level. The bed is very comfortable, great sheets! We enjoyed the jetted tub but where are the plush robes? Huge television, fast internet connection. The hors d'oeuvres was a nice touch. And the breakfast is something that you will always remember! Warm banana loaf was delicious! You will definitely take pictures! I will not hesitate to recommend this wonderful place but I hope they pay attention to some small details.

Yelp
I will only stay at Snug Harbor when visiting Catalina. All of the staff was super friendly and welcoming. We had to check in early because our boat came in early and they stored our bags and called us about an hour later letting us know our room was ready. I loved the room and I am very picky about hotel rooms. When I walked into the room it took my breath away because it was so special and romantic. The breeze when the windows were open was incredible. The bed was VERY comfy as well. My favorite part was all the extras - sleeping masks, slippers, ear plugs, robes, and the beautiful breakfast in the basket the next morning. Overall, best place in Catalina!

Yelp
The Snug Harbor Inn is ideal for a couple's weekend getaway! The staff gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne when they learned that we were celebrating my birthday. There are a lot of thoughtful details in what they do; the fireplace was on when we first stepped into the room, they brought an orchid yesterday with breakfast, DVDs and Blu-Rays are available for you to borrow, etc. The evening wine&cheese also included dips, mixed nuts grapes and a couple additional appetizers. The whole staff has been courteous and helpful. We especially enjoyed meeting Maribel as she was very attentive and cheerful. I would recommend staying in the Santa Barbara room, which probably gives the best partial ocean view (out of the rooms priced similarly) because it's the nearest to that side of the building. We're already plotting our next trip to Catalina and Snug Harbor!
