"Opened in 2014 as the third outpost of Accor’s SO/ brand (following Bangkok and Mauritius), this boutique hotel brings a bit of glam to a staid part of Singapore. Set in the heart of the financial district, in a Neoclassical limestone heritage building that once housed advertising giants Ogilvy & Mather, the 134-room property counts Karl Lagerfeld among its designers (he was responsible for the library, front-house staff uniform, and hotel emblem). The SO/ doesn't take itself too seriously, displaying a kind of Ian Schrager-meets-Philippe Starck postmodern whimsy and flair: think chairs with antlers protruding from the top, curvy couches in bright shades, and blingy, crystal-beaded light fixtures. Rooms meld France and Singapore—the former via high ceilings, crown moldings, and small statues of the Eiffel Tower, the latter via a country map on a mirrored table, or a coffee-table book of Lion City history—and come with iPads for controlling the lights, heat, and curtains. The rooftop 1927 bar borders a criminally underused gold-tiled pool, while the vibrant Xperience Restaurant serves an all-day menu of modern European and Asian-accented fare, plus a popular afternoon tea."

These Hip, Irreverent Hotels Are Transforming Luxury Travel - AFAR

"In a city where jet-setting locals still crowd into the humble hawker stands of Newton Centre for ultra-authentic eats—albeit with one of the first Michelin-starred street stalls in the mix—Singapore buzzes with an insatiable energy. Right in the heart of the Central Business District, SO/ Sofitel Singapore has transformed a 1920s heritage building into the perfect blend of old-school glamour and new-school design, with separate wings designated as “Hip” and “Heritage” (the latter even boasts Karl Lagerfeld–designed Lion’s Seal doorknockers). Custom furniture, art pieces, and a sleek restaurant and bar make it the ideal spot for indulging in Singapore’s glittery lifestyle."

You should be very proud of your staff who were friendly and very accommodating. The room was lovely. We loved the extremely comfortable giant sized bed, the atmosphere, the attention to detail and the hotel products, snacks and drinks. The restaurant staff were very helpful and the food very good. It was our first stay at your hotel but it wont be the last. We had a wonderful time and felt very comfortable and welcomed at your hotel. It was good to see that you had gluten free food options - your chia breakfast pots were sensational.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel for a few nights. It was as expected from the photos and previous reviews I'd seen. The location is great, so easy to get around by foot or the MRT. Our room was very well equipped, had everything we needed as well as complimentary toiletries and mini bar. It was very clean and very stylish, included some nice techy touches also! We did not eat at the hotel at all so I can't pass comment. We did however use the rooftop bar for cocktails, what a view across to downtown. Cocktails were very tasty and the staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and helpful.

As I was for a business trip, a good rest & satisfying breakfast is extremely important. Location was also my main consideration as the Hotel was just a 3 minutes walk from my office. The room, albeit a bit small, was great. Love the overall design & high-tech feeling. The bed was especially excellent & very comfortable Love the mini bar's Mint Tea, helps me relax before going to sleep. However working on the desk was not very comfortable since the chair keeps bumping into the bed. Breakfast was great although the choices are somewhat small, love the freshly squeezed Orange Juice & freshly brewed coffee. Note on the coffee though, on my last day it was really watery. Please maintain the consistency. The gym was small but perfectly adequate as I'm only using the treadmill. Hopefully I'll be able to try the rooftop pool & bar next time. Overall, enjoying my stay here and appreciate the excellent hospitality from the staffs.

Google
Pros: - great location - great service - clean and has nice touches Cons: - I think that it is a bit pricy for what you get. - there isn't a good separation between the room and the bathroom. - the room is built in a weird way, so it feels smaller than it is. I did enjoy my stay here, but I don't think it is worth the price I paid compares to other hotels in the area I stayed in.

Staff were amazing, could not have been more friendly and helpful. I loved how unique the hotel was - a refreshing change in decor from traditional hotels. Enjoyed the free in room snacks and drinks. Breakfast buffet was top quality. Rooftop pool/bar was spacious and relaxing. Highly recommend!

Staff were very friendly and accomodating. Room, whilst smaller than I was expecting, was very relaxing. Loved the Portland classical music app in the room so I could listen to lovely music. Location is great. My only two negative comments are (and this is really nit picking): - Cleaning staff may be too attentive as they kept replacing my towels everyday, despite hanging them on the hook with the hanging card asking them not to be replaced' - The signature scent of the hotel is too strong. Subtle is nice, but it hits you as soon as you walk into the lobby and into the gym.

Thank you so much for giving us such a wonderful birthday celebration for my husband. We loved our room, comfortable bed and spacious clean bathroom with bathtub. Room service w a prompt too. All Staffs were friendly, efficient and tried their best to make our stay so welcoming. We loved the food and Lebar and Cliff. Truly appreciated all staffs who had served us. We were delighted to receive cakes and balloons. Best of us we loved the 🦚 peacock. Indeed it was such a memorable and awesome stay. We will certainly visit Sofitel again.God Bless and thank you 😊

Great decoration! Different levels have different wings and different design. It's a small boutique hotel and nice amenities. Room was slightly damp, maybe the room hasn't been used for a long time. But great experience and great breakfast.

Yelp
First time in Singapore I chose the SO Sofitel for a one night stay. Did the room upgrade package that comes with breakfast and an enormous room. (Huge Bathroom!) Hotel offers great In- room amenities. Quality lotions, deluxe shave kits, facial masks, scents to wear, free treats and drinks from the mini fridge, complimentary mobile wifi router (to bring on the go), In-room Ipad for browsing and an awesome Nespresso machine! They have a decent gym/fitness center and a gorgeous pool. The buffet breakfast was pretty damn good too! One word to describe this hotel would be... Boutique. Cute decor throughout.

Yelp
A rather funky hotel located in Singapore. I stayed here for a few nights on business trip and I loved it for the most part. The service is pretty good and they give you so many free amenities inside the hotel room! I love the bathroom box of free stuff. It's divided between him and her. But there's a lot of overlap. I loved the cotton pads. There is free bottled water everyday. The room designs are pretty funky since Karl Lagerfield had a hand in designing the hotel. The breakfast menu was quite expensive. I had the fried rice and I thought it was decent but the street vendors are probably better.

Yelp
The Good: :: location is good for those who want to be in the CBD :: service was attentive and professional :: right next door to Lau Pa Sat hawker center :: close to public transportation options (MRT, bus, etc) :: free snacks in the minibar! very nice to provide you daily with bottled water, coffee, tea, snacks, and a variety of juices at no extra charge :: amenities were really nice :: bathroom shower pressure was good :: bed was very comfortable :: slippers and robe provided for use :: in-room safe available for use :: bathroom amenities are plentiful, like toothbrush and toothpaste, cotton pads, qtips, shaver/razor, and more :: Handy phone free for you to use as you travel around the city! very convenient, allows you to make calls to certain countries at no extra charge, also has internet so you can use it as your city guide making your way around Singapore The Bad: :: room was very small :: ambiance of the hotel wasn't to my personal liking. some people may like it, but it seemed like it was trying to be really cool. i guess trying to compete with the W? :: sometimes your clothes would somehow end up smelling like the food stalls next door from Lau Pa Sat...???? even though my clothes weren't worn and were in my suitcase, when i took them out to wear, they would smell like i'd been at the food stalls. ???? The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? I don't think so. There are tons of other hotels in the city and it's just not for me. I didn't hate it, I just didn't love it. If you're looking for a place that's close to a lot of things in the CBD and budget isn't an issue, this place may be fantastic for you. This place is IN (but not enthusiastically).

Yelp
First impression is pretty bad --view of a building cross street.. tiny room.. not worth the price.

Yelp
Sofitel So Singapore is a very hip, cool design boutique hotel in a great central location, right across from one of Singapore's best hawker food markets. The rooftop pool is terrific and service is very good. While week designed and nicely outfitted, the rooms are minuscule. We had connecting rooms and the doors between the rooms cannot open fully because the hallway is so narrow. If you are bringing anything more than a carry-on bag, you will have nowhere to put your suitcase. Recommended for a weekend away.

Yelp
I was there on friday last week, for an event at their rooftop pool bar. I loved the staff they were friendly but very slow service. The pool is not great. it looks cheap. the view is only of the CBD buildings and other rooftops. the drinks were ultra expensive. 1 bottle of tiger beer with GST was $18.83. will not come again.

Yelp
So disappointing, and So does not deserve to be part of the Sofitel chain. 1 star rating as part of the Sofitel brand and for its price, 3 star rating if you happen to book it for less than $150 / night. Mind you, we were very cognizant of the fact that this is a semi-new establishment and decided to give it a pass on all the little things that went wrong during our stay. Having said that, there is still an unspoken expectation of great service when it comes to the Sofitel brand and my past experiences at Sofitels around the world. Overall experience: In room light control broke on day 2/5 of our stay, we had only cold showers for 4/5s of our stay and the staff didn't seem very eager to make our stay satisfying. - Unaccommodating Staff Aside from the concierge which was as amazing and awesome as he was busy, the rest of the staff was merely "okay" and seemed clearly inexperienced, with our hoteliers present yet absent when it comes to taking action and making our stay comfortable. Stayed here for five nights, and our troubles began on day one. We had just landed from Tokyo and my girlfriend wanted to use her hair straightener and noticed that the bathroom had both 110v and 220v plugs (great!). We called the reception to confirm that she could use the straightener and they were unable to give us a yes or no, to which we then asked for a transformer from them. About 5 minutes later they promptly come to the room with an adapter that does not transform voltage. We call back and they tell us they have no transformers and that we'd go have to buy one (what?! Our dinky hotel in the Brazil went out and got us one when we asked, and Sofitel is telling us to go fend for ourselves?). She didn't straighten her hair this trip... - Cold showers! Day two, our room iPad stopped working and we were unable to control the lighting in the room. We were also unable to shower as we were in a hurry and there was no hot (or even warm) water. We thought this was fluke, but then it happened again throughout day three. Day three, we call the front desk to tell them of our shower issues after work and they send an engineer to our room. 2 hours later (now 11pm) the engineer says that he is unable to fix it, and the front desk offers us a new room - except my girlfriend is already asleep and we refuse under the promise that they would get it fixed the next day. Day four, once again cold showers in the morning and the engineers stay the day at our hotel room while we're at work "fixing" the shower. We come back in the evening and find out that the issue is still not fixed and they send the engineers back to our room again, who then tell us that we need to run the water for 30-45 minutes before we get hot water (talk about not being green). Day five, we wake up an hour earlier to account for our lack of hot water and leave the shower running - the water eventually does heat up and we have our first hot shower in 4 days. Overall, for the price, you're better off staying at any of the other nearby hotels, The Westin may be a particularly good choice and is only a block away.

Yelp
Wednesday Night girls' night at the 6th floor poolside bar. Nice crowd, DJ and Ruinart bubbly for SD10/glass till 9pm. The bubbles were served at the right temperature. First glass is comp to get the word out. My new fav place...shhh keep it a secret bc it's a cozy space! The hotel is literally adjacent to Lau Pa Sat.
