I RECENTLY DINED AT " SO THE SKY KITCHEN " AND FOUND THE FOOD TO BE QUITE GOOD. THE PRICES ARE ON THE HIGHER SIDE, TYPICAL OF A FINE-DINING EXPERIENCE, BUT THE QUALITY AND CUSTOMIZATION OF THE DISHES JUSTIFY THE COST.
HOWEVER, ONE ISSUE THAT STOOD OUT WAS THE ACCESSIBILITY OF SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS DRINKING WATER. I ASKED FOR WARM WATER, BUT WHEN IT WAS SERVED, BOTH GLASSES HAD HEAVY WHITE POWDER SEDIMENTS AT THE BOTTOM. WHEN I INQUIRED ABOUT IT, I RECEIVED A VAGUE EXPLANATION. EVENTUALLY, I OPTED FOR BOTTLED WATER, ONLY TO BE CHARGED 180 INR FOR A SINGLE BOTTLE.
AS SOMEONE WHO ALWAYS CARRIES MY OWN WATER IN HYDERABAD (DUE TO CONCERNS ABOUT HOTEL WATER QUALITY), I WENT TO MY CAR TO GRAB MY OWN BOTTLE. TO MY SURPRISE, I WAS STILL CHARGED FOR THE BOTTLED WATER, EVEN THOUGH I DIDN’T USE IT. WHEN I REQUESTED A REFUND OR DEDUCTION FROM MY BILL, THEY REFUSED, CITING THAT I HAD PAID WITH A CARD INSTEAD OF CASH OR UPI. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT THE LEVEL OF CUSTOMER SERVICE I WOULD EXPECT FROM A FINE-DINING ESTABLISHMENT.
WATER IS A BASIC NECESSITY, AND IT SHOULD BE PROVIDED FREELY AND IN A SAFE, CLEAN FORM AT ANY RESTAURANT. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO PAY EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS FOR SOMETHING AS ESSENTIAL AS DRINKING WATER, REGARDLESS OF THEIR STATUS.
WHILE I APPRECIATED THE ATMOSPHERE AND THE FOOD, THE SERVICE LEFT MUCH TO BE DESIRED. GIVEN THIS EXPERIENCE, I’M UNLIKELY TO RETURN, DESPITE THE QUALITY OF THE MENU.
