Dropped by Social Club Rooftop after quite a long break and it feels… different now.
The place is packed with tourists these days (lots of Western and Indian groups), so the vibe is more noisy beer hangout than relaxed rooftop bar. The sound system is still good, but the music isn’t as cool or well-curated as it used to be.
I ordered a Hello Hong Kong, then a Dragon Slayer just to be sure, and both cocktails were pretty average – if you’re serious about cocktails, this isn’t the place to be impressed.
On the bright side, the open-air space is breezy and the night view over Saigon’s CBD is still gorgeous. Come here for the view and the wind in your hair, not for the drinks.
One more serious red flag: the menu is only in English with not a single line of Vietnamese. My English is more than enough to read it, but it feels genuinely wrong to be in Vietnam and not see our own language on the menu. For me, that’s not just an inconvenience – it shows a worrying lack of respect for Vietnamese identity and cultural pride, and I have a hard time supporting any place whose owners don’t seem to take that seriously.
