Socialtel Atitlan

Mid. Wouldn’t recommend for anything longer than a day or two. It’s definitely slumming it up. But the energy is social, relaxed, and filled with travelers, chilling by a nice pool. The food isn’t that good and drinks are pretty weak and tasteless (especially for the price). But the staff is helpful and there is plenty to do. Including a ping pong table. And activities. There was roaches in my room. They blasted music starting 8am. You have to pay extra for everything, including co working. Adra Hostel in Antigua is way better.

I had a great stay at Socialtel Panajachel! The location is perfect—just a short walk from the lake, restaurants, and everything you need in town. The pool area is definitely a highlight! It’s a great place to relax and meet other travelers. The atmosphere is super social, making it easy to connect with people, whether you're chilling by the pool or enjoying the common areas. I also really appreciated the co-working spaces—perfect for getting some work done while still enjoying the beautiful surroundings. If you're looking for a fun, social, and well-located place to stay in Panajachel, Socialtel is a great choice!

I ended up staying here because I missed the last Boat to go to my Airbnb in Santa Cruz. However, if I would have known how much I would have enjoyed my entire day being at the Selina. I would have spent my entire week here. I was in a private room with Private bathroom and balcony, and for that Price. I also had an air conditioner and beautifully hot showers.|The staff was extremely helpful, allowing me to check in quickly, and get right to sleep. After a long day of being on the road driving through the mountains in heavy fog.|After my check-in, I was very happy to see they had a Late Night kitchen, (which in at the lake , Late Night means open until after 9pm)|With many different options . I would’ve liked it for there to be at least one or two more traditional Guatemalan options, but I was very happy with the Caesar salad and hamburger.|The prices at to the restaurant were reasonable , especially considering how the pricing and mini Selina hotels can be, but most importantly, this Stuff was extremely friendly and conversation and attentive.|I can say the same thing about The breakfast, where I had the eggs Benedict, which is actually served on toast instead of English muffin .|I will definitely stay here again. In my future travels to Lake Atitlan.

As a generally Selina/Sociatel lover, this one needs a refresher! + Rooms generally ok for the price + Reception was very friendly and welcoming + Overall location and scenery - Pool is extremely dirty, milky water, you can see a thin layer on the surface. - Bar dudes have a weird energy and attitude - A dead cockroach was on the toilet (could have been removed before) - Saw another cockroach walking on the floor while eating at the bar

We booked a double room and were very pleased with this. Well decorated and clean. The bathroom could do with a revamp but everything worked well. The staff were excellent and very friendly and helpful with any questions. There is a good bar / restaurant on site. It's noisy at night - but that's from the dogs barking! Would stay here again.

This hostel has some lovely features, starting with its beautiful main pool area. The private rooms are impressively spacious and the inclusion of a desk is a definite plus. The bathrooms are also quite large, although they did feel a little bare. However, the rooms could benefit from more natural light, as the only window is the sliding door, making them feel quite dark. The hostel definitely has a very young and social vibe. While the food from the restaurant was tasty, the staff seemed a bit disorganized at times. It's worth noting that some advertised amenities, like the cinema room, were not available during our stay, and the reception was undergoing renovations. On a positive note, the location is excellent for exploring Lake Atitlán, with the main pier in Panajachel just a short 5-minute walk away, making it a great base for boat trips.

(March 2025) Socialtel is a very hipster hotel geared towards the young travelers looking for communal experiences. Loud music greeted us upon arrival (not our style) but the accomodations and that staff were excellent. Nice pool, not heated. Hotel has a beach area open after 5pm but it is not on the lake nor with a view of lake.

The hostel it self is ok but out of our group of 5, 4 of use got sick from their water station that are supposed to be filtrated. We were very sick for 24h, when we brought it up with the front desk that just told us, don’t drink the water from the station. They brought zero empathy, no solution, no compensation. Would not recommend. We talked to other guests and it was so bad that they had to go to the hospital. To top it all off they started to pressure wash the whole hostel at 9:30 am!
