Unfortunately I did not enjoy my experience here. The website made it seem so cool, and at first it was. The building looks nice when you walk in, but they advertised that they had to many activities but barely even had half of them. Then you have to pay extra to even go into some of the rooms in the building, like the office space. The rooftop is only open Fridays and Saturdays. There’s a picture of a pool but they don’t have a pool. My room was extremely hot, I asked for a fan and they did give me one. I also wanted to connect with people and didn’t see many people. I ended up going to Medellin vibes hostel the next day which I enjoyed more. Unfortunately I booked through a third party and couldn’t get my money back, I’m not sure if socialtel is even willing to do that. The front desk did say that I’m still booked for another 5 days when I was checking out. I told them I found another place, and they didn’t seem to care to ask what they could’ve done better or offer a refund. I don’t blame the workers though. The idea of the hostel is nice but just didn’t work for me.

This was a bad experience, I recommend to look for other hotels in the area, Sociatel is going through a poor administration. - water was cut-off during 2 of the 6 days of our reservation, staff were not helpful at all, we were left having to go purchase water bottles to clean our self and try to use the batrooms. - the place is just very under-staffed at the moment, there is only a couple people running the whole hotel so they cannot help you with anything really. - the "included breakfast" is very limited, it only includes dark coffee, tea and ONE kind of juice, but because they are understaffed, most days there is no juice at all. - if you want a capuccino or a hot chocolate with your breakfast you have to pay extra. - the cleaning service only changes the bed sheets, they will not sweep the room or vacumn or anything else. (again they are very understaffed) this use to be a great place, but the current administration is killing it, there are other hotels in the area with similar prices and way better service.

Hostel was alright overall. But Mauricio at the cafe was GREAT !!!!!!!!! Looked after us so well and was easily the hardest worker in the whole place he was run off his feet and still a pleasure to deal with throughout. His management should give him a pay rise!

The location is perfect — right in the heart of El Poblado, with great restaurants, cafes, and nightlife just steps away. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and nicely designed, which made it easy to relax after a day of exploring. What really stood out was the staff — super friendly, helpful, and always available to assist with anything I needed. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Medellín

The place itself is great — clean, comfortable, and well located. However, I was really disappointed to find that the shared kitchenette that used to be available is no longer there. That change made a big difference for me. For long-term travelers, especially in Medellín where finding affordable, healthy food options can be a challenge, having access to a kitchen is essential. I understand they replaced it with a café, but that just doesn’t meet the same needs. Because of this, I wouldn’t recommend this place for longer stays. It's great for a short visit, but not ideal if you’re planning to stay a while and rely on cooking your own meals.

My friend and I booked a simple private room through Booking, and when we arrived, David at reception surprised us with a free upgrade to a suite. Such a nice gesture! The stay was very comfortable and we really appreciated the hospitality. Thanks, Sociatel Hostel!

Honestly really mixed views on this place. On paper has everything you could want until you look at the details. Room - Had a great private room, clean and well appointed, house cleaning services are also great. Room really felt like home. However if you have a room on the 8th floor - you will be able to hear Magenta Bar upstairs all weekend, up until 5-6am. Specifically if you are room 811 like me, I can literally hear them above me, I could even shazam the songs lol. Service - The hospitality staff are great, at the cafe and restaurant, but many times I went to reception team were quite unenthiusiastic to help me. I lost my waterbottle and asked reception twice to see if they had it, I went to the cafe staff for help and they went into the backroom and came out with my water bottle. Location - It's very nicely located near Provenza, but it's very hilly to get to. Now that I've been in Medellin for a few weeks I would have actually liked to have stayed further down the road near Zona Rosa as it's more central to the Poblado area and not 25-30 minute walk to the metro station. Although the location is overall pretty good, it is extremely loud, you can hear the traffic and conversations on the street, Magenta bar is too loud during weekends, however this might not have been a problem if the windows weren't so low quality, sometimes it felt like the conversations happening outside where happening inside my room, very loud. Other Things. The internet is too unstable to work in your room reliably, and the co-working staff to my surprise when checking in..... was not free and included with your stay. I access the co-working space when I needed to by spending 30,000 COP at the cafe for lunch and worked the days I need. The 25,000 COP lunch deal is very good and I ate that most days when working. The house-keeping staff who clean the rooms are lovely! The vibe of this hostel is really not as social as people think because there are no common spaces to just chill out in that don't require the expectation of extra purchases..... there is no shared kitchen, dining room or relax area.... which is a big no for me for a social hostel.

I don’t normally do hostels, but this place surprised me in the best way. I was meeting up with a travel group the following day, so instead of booking a traditional stay, I decided to pass a night here. My flight got in late, and even then, everything was ready to go. There was a security guard posted at the door, and the front desk was staffed with a really cool guy named David, who spoke Spanish with me and was super welcoming. We even connected over music, since we’re both musicians, which was a nice moment after a long travel day. All the front desk people were really nice. Overall, I was sincerely surprised at how well maintained and peaceful this place is, especially for being such a large hostel. The facilities were spotless, my bed was made with clean linens ready on top, and the overall vibe was quiet and respectful. They even offer a complimentary welcome drink, which I would have tried but I dont drink and if I had arrived at a more normal hour or wasnt leaving early the next day. The Societel posts lots of info on things to do in the area, and their huge coworking space was a huge bonus. They let me hang out there the next day while I waited for my travel group, and they stored my bags behind the counter so I could roam the neighborhood and come back later. There’s also a large outdoor chill area for catching some fresh air, and what feels like a gazillion bathrooms, I didn’t even get to check them all out because the place is that big. They’ve got a nice breakfast and juice bar right in the front, too, which is a solid touch. And beyond shared dorms, they also offer private rooms, which makes it feel more flexible for travelers who might want to switch it up. Location is on point, right in the center of Medellín, so you’re close to everything. As far as the sleeping conditions go, the only issue was a few noisy or restless bunkmates, but that’s hostel life and no fault of the Societel. I’ll be here for a couple of weeks, and when I return to Medellín in the future, I would absolutely consider an extended stay here after seeing how well they handled even a quick overnight. Good energy, great facilities, and perfect for travelers looking for a solid Medellín base.
