Soda Mima

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Soda Mima is an absolute gem in La Fortuna. We’ve eaten here multiple times now, and every single visit has been outstanding. The food is consistently delicious — fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. It’s the kind of place you come back to because you crave it. What truly sets Soda Mima apart, though, is the service. The gentleman who runs the floor works incredibly hard, attending to everyone with warmth, energy, and genuine attentiveness. His wife is in the kitchen putting together absolutely incredible homemade Costa Rican cuisine. You can feel the pride and dedication behind this family-run operation, and it shows in every detail. This is exactly what you hope to find in a local soda: amazing food, phenomenal service, and people who clearly put their heart into what they do. We sincerely hope the team is proud of this place — it’s something special. Highly, highly recommended.

This resto seemed very local. We were hungry and needed a quick bite, everything was made fresh and the service was good. The food was meh I kept adding salt and hot sauce for flavour.

Ordered the carne con salsa meal. Meat, rice, and beans were great. Didn't like the potatoes too much. Salad was 3/5. Piña bebida was fantastic, as was the plantain which like a dessert. $13US (6,500 Colones). I left satisfied 😊

Stumbled upon this place and it ended up being one of my favorite sodas! Don Albaro was so kind to us and the food was absolutely amazing, steak was super tender. Atmosphere was really homey and he has drawings his of customers all over the world to look at (I even drew my flag, Albania!)

10/10 absolutely loved our experience at Soda Mina! Such a truly hidden gem; the atmosphere, food, and staff were all premium at a price that makes you wanna eat here every meal. Don Alvaro is a sweetheart of a man, and the remaining staff were singing and laughing the whole night which made for some wholesome entertainment. Couldn’t recommend any other place more :)))

We took a taxi specifically to this restaurant because it has very good prices and big portions. The food is amazing and the staff are very kind and pleasant.

One of the only places to escape the tourist onslaught of La Fortuna. Prices still reflect the location—higher than they should be, but you’ll find plenty of locals drinking and eating here. The food is really wonderful, among the best I’ve had in Costa Rica and perhaps the best empeñadas I’ve had in my life. Very fresh and hot. Beer is cold, and service is friendly. Helps if you speak some Spanish, nobody working speaks English; again, not a tourist trap, more of a local dive, so keep that in mind.

I had an amazing experience at Soda Mima in La Fortuna. The owner, Álvaro, was incredibly kind and welcoming, and his warm hospitality — together with his wife — made me feel right at home. The food was absolutely outstanding and authentic. If you’re in La Fortuna, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
