SODENG - THE VINTAGE BBQ (TELOK AYER)

This is my second time dining at this restaurant, but my first visit to this particular outlet and I must say, I prefer this one over the Amoy branch. While the Amoy outlet has a more atas and polished look, this outlet gives off a more authentic Korean vibe, which I really enjoyed. The atmosphere feels warmer and more casual, making the whole dining experience more comfortable and enjoyable. The service here also stood out staff were attentive, friendly, and more efficient compared to my previous visit. Most importantly, the food was noticeably better this time. The flavours were more balanced, dishes were well prepared, and everything tasted fresher and more satisfying. Overall, this outlet exceeded my expectations and definitely left a better impression than the Amoy branch. I would happily return to this outlet again for both the food and the experience.

We had an amazing experience at Sodeng. The food quality was outstanding — every ingredient tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared. The service was just as impressive. The team was very attentive and observant without being intrusive, which made the whole meal feel comfortable and well-paced. A special mention to Jae Hun, who was incredibly hospitable. He took the time to share the uniqueness and speciality behind each ingredient and dish we ordered, which made the experience even more memorable. Part of me wants to gatekeep this spot, but honestly it’s a 10/10 recommendation. If you enjoy high-quality KBBQ with great service, this place is worth a visit. 🔥🥩

There are so many kbbq places in this area that it’s hard to know which one to choose, but this one, I would highly recommend! It is slightly different from the “standard” kbbq experience, and you’ll find a much more curated menu here. We had duck, beef and fried rice on the bbq and seafood tofu stew as a side. The meat was of a high quality and very flavourful, and the staff not only cooked for you, but meticulously prepared different flavour combos and bites with different fixings and sauces. Each was different and a real treat - and I would absolutely say that the beef on the bone is not to be missed! The stew was also thick, rich and flavourful - much closer in texture and intensity to a curry, than a soup. Was a great experience and would absolutely return

Finally we made it to Sodeng after so long. We were supposed to go for dinner in oct when my global head was here with colleagues from other countries but due to some miscommunication we didn't make it then and so for our year end team lunch, I suggested that we should visit after reading so many reviews and indeed Sodeng didnt disappoint us in terms of food quality /taste and seevice . We had BBQ for lunch and there was a dedicated staff just for us to do all the work and the staff was well trained and professional in his job. We ordered all 5 different meats to try and we especially love the beef and pork belly (though they are supposedly famous for duck but we all felt its average in comparison with beef and pork). There was also 1for1 beer promotion during lunch time and I also strongly recommend that you order their fried rice to finish off. Everyone was really happy and satisfied with the meal and service and this is one place that I would return.

The best korean BBQ beef ribs I had in SG so far. The soft tofu stew was awesome too, so thick and flavorfully spicy. Highly recommend anyone who love bbq and Korean food to come here. The side dishes were perfect too!

As a Korean, this is some seriously authentic Korean food. +The service and staff were super professional. They had great BBQ skills and kindly showed us the best way to eat everything. +We ordered their most popular dish, beef, and the quality was amazing. All the side dishes went perfectly with it. +You can't just walk in without a reservation. Especially on weekdays, there's no way you'll get a table without one.

Shout out to the Korean manager who dressed up as Joker on Halloween! It was so hot I was too frazzled to get a photo of / with him but he was so sad no one was excited haha. Sorry it was just a v hot day! But he spooked me when he first peeked through our room haha. It was great, there was walk-in available thank god bc I can’t figure out the online reservation system. & Sodeng gave us a really private spot! You can definitely order from the bbq / dinner menu during lunch so we had beef! & the kimchi fried rice later. It was allll good. The highlight was the bbq on the lid bc that’s something you can only get in Korea. That’s why I really wanted to come here. Wish had space for duck bc that’s also a Korean-only thing. The server did his thing & served us like 5 different ways to enjoy the beef. I can’t recall all of the. There was one wrapped in perilla leave. The cheese one was unexpected but good beef doesn’t really need cheese but fun still. My fav way was probably wrapped in the aged / white bokkeum kimchi! The fried rice was goood. & he did a heart shape ofc! I ate every single grain. Saw Sodeng was brought in by the same people at Um Yong Baek? Good food good service all round! Be prepared to drop some $

I recently visited a Korean restaurant and had a great experience. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. I ordered Bibimbap and Korean BBQ. The food was delicious and full of flavor. The meat was tender and the side dishes were fresh. The staff were friendly and the service was very good. Overall, I really enjoyed the meal and would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Korean food.
